Title: Somethings Wrong Here
Post by: rjphoto on July 17, 2008, 22:42
Hi All,

I just sold a $5.00 image on SnapVillage and my share was only .30 cents, I was getting .30cents on my $1.00 images.

Am I wrong or should that be more? Should I drop them an email?

Thanks for your input

Sounds like a subscription sale.

Yeah, it must have been a sub-sale. I start hating subs. After some dull months I have a lot of sales in July (cannot figure out why, but I do) - but all subs. I think there is no point in setting price at 5 USD as everybody buys your L files only as subs.

delete and re-upload your best sellers.

Not necessary. Subs option can be removed on uploaded images, and prices can be changed.

took me one week

to opt out from subs

900 images one by one...  :-(

if the sites want to have sub sales at 30 cents they should have and a lot of downloads first...

don't you think?

Do you still have download after you opt out?

no downloads

but i prefer no downloads from 5 or 10 dl of 30 cents

That is exactly what I am afraid of - if I disabled the subs(all or some), I would not have any downloads at all. I think at least 0.30 looks a teeny bit better than 0.00. But I am not very sure about this any more... With the downsoaring dollar rate it has started to look almost identical...

That's the way I feel too.  If subs sales were of sufficient quantity to make it worthwhile (highly unlikely since Shutterstock is the only one to pull this off), I would opt in.  But I'm not going to build up 10 sales for $3.00 over a few months and know I'll never reach payout.  If Snapvillage wants to sell my images, they'll have to prove they can do it through credit sales.

Looks like you were right epixx. It was a subscription, it was very late last night when I looked at this. Starting to wonder if I like subscriptions now.  :(

I'm selling 2 - 3 images per month ($10 sale = $3 payout...never opted for subs). Plus they're selling images that, for whatever reason, are not moving on the other sites. Easy upload and low cash out...no complaints here.

i suppose you have a point there.
even a boring postcard in a drug store sells for more than 60 cents.
