I keep hearing Chrome mentioned as a great browser. Is anyone else using it? Is anyone else thinking of using it? Is it really worth a try? Seen any problems; ie: not working with some sites (my own home page, for example)?

What should I know before chancing a trial? Is there any danger to loading it on my computer?

I tried it but I much prefer firefox 4. Google are great but just like microstock, I don't want to become reliant on one company. I like firefox because mozilla are independent and the browser has great add-ons and is easy to set up just how I like it. I just couldn't get chrome to do everything I wanted.

I've been reading about Chrome's development on Wikipedia. There was some mention of not supporting H.264 Codec. My video is recorded in H.264 but not sure just how or what any of this means.

Also, is there any problem switching between the two ... FF and Chrome? No conflicts? Is it okay to leave the Chrome software installed when you return to FF?

Did you notice any significant difference in the speed of the two browsers?

I use FF and Chrome, but FF is my main browser because I like the interface more.
You can have both, I have also Opera installed. Opera is pretty good too.
To me Chrome seems a bit faster than FF, and much faster than Internet Exploder, but IE is a joke. It's not a browser, it's a snail.
Anyway, FF is my favourite browser. I love the customizable bookmarks bar below the address bar, I have the favicons of MSG and the major agencies there, I just click on the favicon and the site opens.

Chrome is fantastic. Starts up fast, browsing is fast, images look better, doesn't crash. Firefox always crashes for me, even though I usually update. I keep both firefox and Chrome open, I still like firefox for all the add ons. I haven't used Internet Explorer on my own laptops for about 5 years.

Did any of you read chrome's terms? They basically profiling you thru your browsing habits... it might not be abused, but if it is, it's one hell of a database to work with. I'm starting to dislike google more and more.

Impressive. I just installed and am starting to get familiar. VERY quick.

ITHN ... is there a safe browser? Don't they all gather data?

PS: oh yeah... what add ons do you recommend?

It's what I am using since the beta version and it rocks. Everything is fast and it never ever "not respond" like some Mozilla Firefox and IE9.

nothing is safe but here you have to agree that they gather info about your browsing habits. I guess in practice that means almost all your actions are recorded. think about it, there's an awful lot you can learn about someone thru that, things they might not want to share at all.

The acid test. I downloaded it to see how it handles live streaming. Watching motocross from Budds Creek, Maryland. So far ... GREAT!!!!

I'm not sure that the browser has anything to do with how live streaming is received? But, I watched two motocross races (nearly an hour each) and did not have a single "buffering" pause. It is usually a very annoying part of watching the races using IE and/or FF.

Can any of you techies tell me if the browser has anything to do with how fast a live feed is received?

In any case, I'm hooked on this new Chrome browser. A couple of petty annoyances but probably because I need to become more familiar.

I don't have any difference with buffering between Firefox and Chrome. I often watch HD clips with no pause using firefox. I'm sure that's more to do with your internet connection quality than the browser. I don't know if emptying the cache might help, or increasing its size?

I use it as it is definitely faster than firefox. Firefox 4 is very slow for me for some reason, I went through everything I could find to get more speed out of it.
However you lose the plugins (not that I had many) so most of the time it isnt a big deal, but occasionally I want the functionality and so fire up firefox do what I want and then go back to chrome.

ive switched to chrome recently because firefox kept crashing on me and i got fed up with it. So far no complaints here. I like the fact i just type in anything i want to search right on the address bar.

I can do that with firefox. I don't have the slow speed or crashes either. I wonder if everyone is updating to the latest version? Mine seems as fast as chrome and I haven't tweaked anything. It runs great on my PC and on my lower spec netbook.

Chrome is my secondary browser

My main browser is firefox. I keep many tabs open in firefox all the time... so when editing large multi-layer files in photoshop I close firefox to save memory and cpu power... and when I need to quickly check something (like dictionary for example) I use Chrome

and IE is used exclusively for my wife's webmail so that I don't need to re-enter the password neither for her nor for my web mail
