Title: color profile questions and advices?

Hi,

I have some doubts and question about correct color profiile on camera and post procesing software.

Shooting with Nikon d300 and there is color profile (CP) set to AdobeRGB, post procesing in capture nx and later in CS3 and there is default CP. VIewving and magagement of images was done in Acdsee pro v2 whic is on default CP.

Any sugestions and advice about choosing corect CP?

When I first started out, had a problem with the Adobe RGB color profile because when I uploaded my files to every site but IS (which uses sRGB CP), the colors looked very dull and washed out. So I switched the default setting in the camera and CS3 to sRGB and now the photos look much better after uploading.

The color profile settings are only used if you are shooting in JPG. If you shoot in raw you choose which color profile to use when you process the raw image.

If you shoot JPG and have your camera set to adobeRGB and want to submit to the micros, then you should convert your image as a final step to sRGB.  This is done by going to edit > convert to profile...

adobeRGB has a larger color space which is why people would edit, or take their pictures in this profile.

i convert RAW to sRGB jpeg.

I convert RAW to sRGB. I think it's the most simple way, and you won't bother with converting, and getting dull colors.

hmm... Im red somewhere in nikon d300 manual that is adobergb bether for postprocesing and editing, but looks' like it is there some problems on stock... Shooting in raw and I'm not find anywhere option to switch color profile. Developing raw files in CNX 1.3 and v2.

I am sure you have an option in you camera menu to switch it to sRGB. I have it in my D80. If you take your images in aRGB they could be reddish after converting to sRGB. And I think all agencies convert images to sRGB. One of the reviewers from SS told me that I should always, and ALWAYS take images in sRGB mode, because it is web format.

with d80 is different story... when opening d80 .nef  files in cnx i have optin to change CP but with d300 .nef files cant find this option or i'm not look very well.
