Title: lightroom - change of directory and folders
Post by: mtkang on December 16, 2010, 04:50
Hi all,

anyone is using lightroom?

lightroom seems remember where is your folder directory and folder name. But if you physically change the folder name or move the folder to other directory, it has problem to recognise it?

let's say i had done all post-process i need on my folder and i decided to move the folder to another directory, how can i make lightroom recognised all my post process after moving that folder?

To re-import it again? or there is some proper way to move around folder so lightroom won't get confused.

Hi mtkang --

You can use Lightroom to relocate your folder after you've physically moved it. Start by viewing your catalog or collection as a grid (View-->Grid). If Lightroom can't find the folder (or image) you will see a small question mark at the top right corner of each image; click on the question mark. A dialogue box will appear asking if you would like to locate the missing image. Choose locate, and navigate your finder to the new folder location. Carefully select the the right photo, once you have the rest of the images in the folder will be updated as well.

Hope this helps.

hi thank you for the instructions.. I wasn't sure why there are some folders i failed to move, and it gave me a message that it had imported before. Actually my purpose is to 're-import' that folder to another directory. Anyway, i end up move that folder through explorer and re-import it, somehow the changes are gone..but good things just a few images.

lightroom is good to manage images, but i guess it takes some time to learn it.
