More tempting, but I still don't like the idea of having to subscribe for life to be able to use files created with it (e.g., PSD files).
For PS CS3 or later owners. In a line sounding a lot like Getty, Adobe stated: "We do not currently have any intention of raising this price." But you have to sign up before year's end to qualify. No tricks here. ::)

I pay $50 a month for the full CC suite and have zero complaints.
$9.99 for PS and LR is a great deal.
-
Definitely makes me interested. I wish it didn't expire at year end since I don't really feel an upgrade is necessary but $10 a month is a bargain for Adobe. I have Lightroom and the whole CS5 Suite and honestly only use Lightroom, Photoshop and occasionally InDesign so no need to upgrade the whole suite.

Makes me interested

Did you have any trouble installing CC? I've been seriously thinking about it for a number of reasons, but have heard some installation horror stories.

I couldn't get it to work at all from FF; it worked from IE, but took ages to download 6 programs. If you've been using a previous version of Bridge, you might need to remove Bridge.exe from Task Manager > Processes before Bridge CC will load. (it has it's own Bridge.exe file!

Thanks for the tip! If this latest television show deal comes through, I'll definitely be upgrading for the closed captioning features.
-
does it still include Bridge/ACR?
I'm def interested as I'm on CS5 and for an annual fee of $120 this is a great deal to get PS, ACR and LR. I'm looking for the catch, but we're all going to be forced into CC at some point so we should take this olive branch now, right?

One catch is that you're not eligible to upgrade to this deal if you have one of the actual earlier Creative Suites.

Yes, it includes Bridge & ACR.
The catch is only that if you stop paying sometime down the road, you'd better not need to access any of the intermediate files that you saved. Unless you start paying for CC again, but then you'd have to pay a higher monthly fee (since if you stop once, the deal is done).

Or save as tif (or jpg).

des Bridge & ACR.

yes, they've well and truly got us, haven't they? but $120/yr for Photoshop and Lightroom seems like a bargain. Even if you do what many of us do: upgrade every other year, it's not much of a price change.

I'd been upgrading about every 18 months, paying about $200 each time. So this would be $180 every 18 months. So you're right. It's just that it doesn't give me the option not to upgrade, but they already took that option away last time (saying only CS5 users could upgrade to CS6 or threatening that or something).
So as I've said, the only difference is not being able to access files once you've decided to no longer play the game. I suppose if we're being forced into a subscription, this is as good a deal as can be expected.

Nope, that doesn't work if you want to go back and tweak your edits later. Unless you save a layered tif, which is much larger than a .psd (and may still be missing some of the edit info).

often though, if you go back, say a year later, your style and way of doing things has changed enough to warrant starting the edit from scratch.

I'm sticking with LR4 and CS5 (along with Nik)....can't see needing anymore than that.....no annual subscription fee.

That's a good point. I've re-edited a few files recently from 2-3 years ago and found that I do a MUCH better job now. The idea of not being able to tweak existing edits still worries me, but perhaps it's unlikely to ever actually come up (at a time after I've given up the subscription). Still undecided, though.

you should trust your instincts - you'll not want to go over the old edits, and your new self will want to start from scratch.

hi does it mean lightroom and photoshop will only be available through online? not sure how is work, it is like you have to access internet to use the program?
it won't take up your hd storage?
-
I dont like the whole concept especially not for software and I will never even take it under consideration

No, it doesn't mean that at all.
PS and LR still reside on your local drive. The only differences are that you pay monthly for the software rather than buying a license for a one-time fee; and that the software had to be online for a once-a-month checkin with Adobe to verify that you're still subscribed. Otherwise it's the same software that works the same way.
-
so it means I still have to use the computer I had installed lightroom and photoshop?
i got a new laptop in my office, and i am thinking of editing some photos in office laptop as well.
How I can manage the lightroom in two computer? i put my raw files on a portable drive, but how can I sychronise the lightroom while using two different computer for portable drive of photos?

Someone else will have to answer that. I use Photoshop but I don't use Lightroom, so I have no experience relevant to your question.

User satisfaction with Creative Cloud dropping in survey of Adobe customers:
http://news.investors.com/technology-click/121113-682544-adobe-systems-set-to-report-q4-earnings.htm (http://news.investors.com/technology-click/121113-682544-adobe-systems-set-to-report-q4-earnings.htm)
And as that is written for investors, not customers, they don't mind putting "The move to a cloud business model holds the promise of higher lifetime revenue per customer, as users switch to paying a monthly subscription fee rather than buying software products outright....."
They don't discuss why customer satisfaction fell, but I'm guessing it's the realization that it's the same old Adobe and the hope that there'd be lots of really useful new stuff hasn't quite panned out that way.
And I'm in the "over my dead body" group, happily using CS6 :)
-
and those that are still using CS6 or older you didn't get a letter from Adobe sayings, "Woops, we lost your credit information to hackers." I guess this is a 'Hidden' benefit for me going to the Cloud - new I get free credit reports for up to one year. Thanks ADOBE! Merry Freakin Xmas! :(
