I got to try out the new Photos for Mac. I have been a user of Aperture for several years and it fits both my personal and microstock needs. I very rarely use PS any more. So I was a happy camper till Apple decided to drop any future development of that software.
I had high hopes for the new Photos for Mac. But, right now, it seems much more like iPhotos than Aperture. Key missing stuff is no curves adjustment. Curves adjustment is a large part of my workflow. They do provide a levels adjustment but its confusing and too course a tool. There is also no star rating. They have sharpen but no edge sharpen. No Burn and dodge. Very few to no brush options .
So anybody else try it? What do you think?
Anybody switch to lightroom or another software with success?

I switched to Lightroom in early 2014 and I am very happy with it.

I made the switch in 2011 and never looked back. Love LR.

I think that Apple or some third party will start to sell plug ins to make it more professional.
For the time being i keep using Aperture (still suits my needs) and will decide for a update/change in a few months.

Lightroom here too, and very happy with it.
Lightroom 6 is announced for the 20th of Mars!

Same here, I keep Aperture as far it is support my camera, still the best soft.

I was looking at OnOne's Perfect Layers as a Lightroom add-on and realized that they market the entire suite ($80 as a standalone app, $130 if you want Lightroom and Photoshop integration) as a complete solution.
I often use Lightroom alone for personal images - everything for stock ends up in Photoshop - and was thinking that having layers and being able to blend multiple layers in Lightroom would be very convenient for non-stock work.
You might give that a look as an Aperture alternative:

You can look at video tutorials in the Learn section to get an idea of how it works (which will seem pretty familiar if you're used to Photoshop and Lightroom)
