IrfanView is a fast and compact image viewer/converter. It is trying to be simple for beginners and powerful for professionals. It supports file formats and features. Note for people who don't want to use a big club to swat a gnat. Bulk image processing, resize, fast crop, websize, quick editing of all sorts. No it's not Photoshop, Gimp or Elements. But it is a very useful utility.
Don't forget the F12 key which opens Paint within Irfanview.
It also runs 8BF plugins and effects.
Oops, almost forgot. You'll want the plugins too which makes it do much more:

I have used Irfanview for years and years now. I simple love the fact that you can read the Exif data with 1 keystroke (E) and IPTC too (I).
