Any other PSP X2 users in the forum?

I have been using PSP X2 for years. Today the "Crop to Selection" option of the Image menu started behaving inappropriately: it is creating a new image with my selection, instead of cropping the original. I don't want a new image with the cropped file, just crop the original as I have always done.

Please observe that I am not referring to the Crop Tool, the one with the presets. I am using the Selection Tool to make a selection, then going to the menu Image - Crop to Selection.

I have already exited the program and also tried other files, but the problem persists.

I sent Corel a support message, but they tend to reply with idiot automated texts that do not address our question. I've searched online fora, and saw someone reporting exactly the same, and his solution was to reset his configurations. Well, if there is something to reset, then there is something to set, and I can not find it!

Don't click the Crop button on the Tool Options palette or on the toolbar below your crop outline. Either click Apply the green check mark or double-click within the crop outline to perform a normal crop without creating a new image.

Peter,

The green check mark appears in the Crop Tool, but this is not what I am using (see 2nd paragraph). I'm doing a selection and then, through the menu, Image - Crop to selection. The Crop Tool has that second button that crops to a new image, but the way I am doing it (without the Crop Tool), it should not be doing so - and had never done before.

According to this site:

http://www.ehow.com/how_6954022_reset-paintshop-pro-back-default.html

1. Click the Windows "Start" menu to open it.

2. Click "All Programs." Windows will display a list of programs.

3. Hold down your "SHIFT" key and double-click the "Paintshop Pro" program. Windows will display a prompt asking if you want to reset the the program to its default state. Click "Yes."

I'm trying to avoid the "reset all" option (there is a way to do it from inside PSP as well), as I may lose some useful  configuration. As I said, if there is something to reset, there should be a way to set it. I'll wait and see if Corel support gives me some useful feedback.

Thank you all.

Theu asked me to call support so this could be discussed live, but I won't pay an international call that will certainly last several minutes! I explained this to them, but never got any reply.

So you tried Double-Clicking on the crop tool or Selection Tool for settings?
