I don't understand why Sony Playmemories requires my birthday to buy an app. My camera is registered, and I can pay with a credit card.
Does it bother anyone else?
-
Yes, it does. More and more companies are "demanding" this information as their "right", when in fact, it is quite wrong.
Unfortunately, most people do what they are told, and are sheep. I suppose you could enter whatever birthday you wanted.
-
Just give them a fake birth date
January 1st 1901 see how they like them apples :D
-
just make sure you are over 18 or maybe 21 with your "new" birthday.

According to Sony's Privacy Policy website, birthday is not a requirement: https://www.playstation.com/en-us/network/legal/privacy-policy/ (https://www.playstation.com/en-us/network/legal/privacy-policy/)
Sony's support really is not very useful, and the employees and supervisor won't provide any more contact info such as their legal department or people at higher level.
This policy actually prevents some customers, such as moi, to buy their apps.
-
What negative consequences do you envision from them having this privileged and highly classified information?
-
I was looking for a different Internet provider and before they would show me their packages (Frontier) they wanted me to enter my social security number so they could do a credit check. Fk that.
-
Maybe they will send you a birthday present

Maybe they will send you a birthday present
Haha, probably. Guess they want to compile user profiles. On the hand, their greed keeps some users from spending money on them.
-
I always do a "fake" birthday for anything online like that.
-
It does not have an option to make a purchase on behalf of a business, which is odd.

Sony app requires my birthday for registration, how do you feel?
I feel nothing. I am numb. People are mysteries to me. I am a shell: empty and dark inside.
