Title: Software to use instead of Photoshop
Post by: cathyslife on March 08, 2021, 15:14: I know there was just a discussion of software to use instead of PS recently, but I have no clue what thread it was in, or remember the name of the software.

Some fine art groups I belong to are scanning their art and want to clean up the image. I suggested The Gimp but I think another freebie or less expensive program than PS was mentioned.

Minor additions. $24.99 and the free trial, no watermarks, no BS, full version, is a very generous 90 days.

Photo, Designer and Publisher are each a different software package. I only have Photo installed.

Very intuitive. Everything is treated similar to a RAW file or digital negative. You make adjustments and then save as a working file. When you are done, you export an image in the format you want. Your original images are not destroyed in the process.

Post by: Shuttershock on March 10, 2021, 09:56: Ive used Affinity Photo ever since Adobe started the subscription plan for photoshop and I find it does everything photoshop does for what I require and much much more. I don't like it for RAW, for that I used Iridient Developer.

Post by: Opalescence on March 20, 2021, 07:40: Affinity sounds good. Should try. Do they have all those different presets as you can get separately for Photoshop/Lightroom? I mean moods, skies, flares, rainbows, fairy dust, and whatnots to ad. I quite like playing with those. Or are they already in the app?
