Title: Survey: How is the global corona crisis affecting you?
Post by: StockPerformer.com on April 07, 2020, 06:14
We are running a survey to see how the global corona virus is affecting stock contributors. We will be summarizing the results in a blog post and are VERY thankful to all contributors who participate! Feel free to share!!

Slightly strange choice of answers. I.e. how much drop do you expect... none, 30%, 50%? And how much less content will you produce? Surely those who have a full time job... who are now working from home, have reduced hours or have been made unemployed... might be producing slightly more or a lot more content?

I have a day job and did not made much photos past 2 years.
Since corona crisis i just work two days a week so i have much time for new photos.
Before corona i produced 300 images a year, now i make 300 images a month.

Done!
And no, this crisis is not affecting me ATM. I'm creating content relative to 'coronavirus' and selling it.
Recently, somebody said me on this forum, "complex motion graphics is not rocket science"...
well, maybe he was wrong :)

Hmm... not quite sure your reasoning works! While I agree that complex motion graphics are far from easy, by your logic.... if somebody makes something and then sells it... then it is rocket science? Flipping burgers, printing t-shirts, selling hotdogs, baking cookies to sell.... because these people have created content and sold them, all claims that 'it's not rocket science' are false?

sorry, english is not my native language, so, maybe i explained it wrong.
Motion graphics sell well but I don't see lot of competition as there is in photography and videography.
If it would so easy, there would be a lot more people doing it, i think.  :)

Thank you for pointing that out! It is a good point. We had assumed that for most photographers, staying at home would represent a limitation. This is mainly true for stock photographers working with people (lifestyle, sports, business,etc...). But you are right that those working with food, concepts, objects, 3D renders, motions, etc... might have an opportunity to produce more.

Sorry we missed that! We will point it out in our blog post.

Thanks,
Luis

There is one thing that may affect some contributors, including me and is not mentioned in your survey. My sells don't dropped at all, but kindergardens/schools are closed here and children are at home all day, so its not easy to produce new stuff.

That's why we included the question of whether you will be able to maintain your production levels or not. For many people, the corona virus forces them to stay home with kids. So even if they can produce content at home, they might simply not have the time. In that case you can answer the question saying that you will produce less. And that should cover your situation.

Thanks!

My downloads went down from the second week of march.
I have only a few downloads now and all of them are cheap subscription downloads.
I usually have quite a lot on demand downloads with a higher price but those completely stopped from mid march on.

My portfolio is 50% travel Italy - 40% travel Europe - 10% other (food, texture ...)

March good -20% from February
April (first 8 days) down 50% from February

Download is good (-20/30%), but I lost extended licences in all the agencies.

RPD Feb 0,98 - Mar 0,93 - First 8 days Apr 0,69.
