Do you get any sales at SF, is it really worth continuing?
-
If you want to earn $50 per 6 or 8 months with 6k photos, then yes. Otherwise, don't bother. My only worse earner is GL, and that one is dead, dead, DEAD.

So them turning me down was not a disaster it seems!

Not many, one of the worst performing stock agencies. If you already have a large portfolio uploaded, leave it there. But it's hardly worth it if you're a newcomer.

More like a 'Blessing'...

I uploaded about 1400 files there in 2011 when I left iStock exclusivity thinking I'd give it a shot as the guy behind it was one of the founders of StockXpert.
It never really took off, but I made about $50 a year (that's not a typo) until fall 2015. Since then I've made about $28 and sales appear to have dried up. I can't see any reason to upload there.

If only they'd accepted me...they'd be vying with SS for no 1 by now ;-)

They don't sell a lot but I only spend about 10 minutes a year on the site and the amount they make is worth it. As they pay 50%, I will carry on uploading when I have nothing better to do.

It's a shame that Stockfresh don't sell much as they are are one of the nicer sites to work with.
-
Yes, they have pretty decent royalty option.
I really wish they'd marketed the product properly.

They never will. And it's a shame, they could have very well been one of the major players in the business now if they had done it right years ago. They emerged right at the time that both buyers and contributors were getting really frustrated with istock. Buyers with the changing prices and confusing credit costs, and contributors with the RC system and decreasing earnings. Stockfresh emerged with a simple credit system and a fair royalty rate. And on the heels of StockXpert, which was largely viewed among contributors as a good agency.
It was almost perfect. You really couldn't set up a more advantageous situation for an emerging agency. If only they had taken advantage of it and made themselves visible in the market all those years ago.
Instead, they skipped marketing almost entirely, and no one ever noticed them. They hardly sell anything, and we hardly earn anything as a result.

That's no reason not to invest money in it.

My sales on stockfresh are very rare too, but I keep uploading as it is one of the easiest to upload, their commissions are good, the support is also good and most of all, they do not accept all the crap. Sometimes I get rejections, but I wish shutterstock would pay just half as much attention to quality of the images. So I want to keep supporting them, I think they deserve it.
To put it moneywise - it takes very little effort to upload my images, and it's nice too get a payout every now and then.

I'm not sure you follow my point which is really that its all very nice to pay out a high %age commission but if its at the expense of spending on marketing then its not really doing much good.
-
A lot of sites spent too much on marketing and are no longer around. I don't mind the few that haven't spent much but have been around for years and pay 50%. They aren't exciting but over many years they still make enough money to keep me uploading.
-
I've started uploading there, but I saw this today:
MONTHLY SUBSCRIPTIONS
from 20¢/image
Download up to 25 images per day for as low as 20¢. All sizes + vectors included!
I thought they are paying better, what's your experience.
-
Looking at sales over the last year, the lowest royalty I find is .35. More common were .50, $1 and some for $2. But sales of any kind are rare enough that I only upload new images when they make me sales. SF has never produced more than a trickle for me.

I don't recall seeing anything less than 35 cents, but that's not really their problem. In the last 18 months, slow sales became the tiniest dribble. Even over the busy (everywhere else) Christmas season they barely moved the needle. I will leave my images there, but I haven't uploaded in a while as it seems pointless.
-
I made $2-$4 a month, rarely $10. I close my account.
