Hello MSG! Has anyone seen the new homepage layout for Stocksy (http://www.stocksy.com/)? It's crazy gorgeous! I simply love the idea of mocking up magazine and websites with existing images... they certainly look incredibly professional, and not at all with the typical "stock photo" sort of look. As someone who does design and layout work on a full-time basis, it's a very attractive setup to me.

Congrats to all photographers who are currently on Stocksy. I wish you guys success. :)

Thank you davidgoh - I'm one of the lucky photographers on Stocksy and I'm totally in love with the site as well. So many great talents with stunning work. It's sometimes depressing ... ;)

very nice layout !

but i rest my case : the Stocky logo doesnt fly.
with that typeface it means nothing, it gives no message, no clear sense of anything and in particular it doesnt feel business in any way.

is it only me?

But why do I feel that the design is way over to the artificial side?
Why does the style make me feel like vomit.
Can it be because it looks too much like istocks sinister side?
Like the site wants to tell us what we like, even if we dont.

I hope it is only me.
The stoksy concept deserves a good start.

I like it, but I do feel that Stocksy is the official agency of the Unhappy Hipsters (satirical) blog. Have you seen this? I worry that when the look passes, so will the demand.  Nice photos though...

lol totally agree.

I personally love the style and that's how I like to edit. If you are even remotely in the current trend of portraiture you'll know that's how it's going. iS and SS make me shoot "their way" which is fine - it's like being back at college where a perfect exposure, crisp elements and correct composition counted more than emotion. My teacher at college hated shallow dof in front of the main object, so we didn't shoot like that, even though it's trendy. I'm still a stickler for perfect technique but I found it took me 2 years to shake off the limitations of the rules and start "seeing", including shadows, ignoring rules of thirds, or focussing "where I like it". Still learning, still improving.
