Title: Stocksy seeing huge growth!
Post by: Dakota on June 04, 2016, 04:17
"Stocksy has reported another year of impressive growth with gross sales of $7,928,745 million in 2015. That is up 126% from $3.5 million in 2014. The great news for image creators is that Stocksy paid out $4,323,735 in royalties. That’s 55% of gross revenue collected. In addition, because the company is a Co-Op, they were able to pay out an additional $200,000 in dividends to members who sold images during the year." Pickerell.

why would a co-op report sales publicly? how does any agency pay 55% of gross collected revenue when royalty rates are 50%?

i smell a rat.

Impressive.! Really shows that the sky is the limit for photographer friendly environments......

My Istock crown has become too heavy now. But not interested in giving it up to become independent submitting to Shutter, Adobe, bla bla bla. Hope to become someday part of it. For me the future is to be part of a contributor driven agency or nothing.

There are many exceptions to the 50% royalty rate, it's often times much higher.  Look elsewhere for that rat you smell.

I smell it, too. But the smell reminds me more of envy than anything animal.

No envy from here. I continue to make a good living from my distribution choices. Besides, I don't even shoot the style they seem to want.

How many contributors they have? Because, let's say, for a scarce crew of 5.000 contributors that would avergade about 800 $ a year per phographer.

We need more sites set up using this model. I wish I wasn't working flat out maintaining my income from the sites I upload to!

Right.  Currently, the limit is 1,000.  But occasionally they will investigate and remove people that haven't contributed in a long time or aren't active in any way.

agree, and concept isn't that hard to achieve at all

we need 50% commission site with exclusive images, higher quality compared to usual microstock photos (flooding new searches) and without need for those pastel/retro/artistic style.

person/company who make it happen would profit very nice.

I'm first to submit images only to that site and images that don't get accepted go to every other sites I usually submit to.

actually whoever posted that really shouldn't have as we have all signed an agreement not to publicly post internal communications........ but perhaps some of these figures have been made public somewhere else.
