Your Stock Photos Shouldn't Look Like Stock Photos

I find a lot of typical micro stock photos. I almost have more candid shots than stocksy  ;)

What is the gist of Stocksy these days? I still believe if it comes down to Stocksy I have plenty of work that is more stocksy than what I find on stocksy. By saying that I am not knocking the quality of the images, as the quality is fine, its just that many images are typical staged stock images. I am confused about that tag line.

I never got that rejection email, maybe I should try again.

I agree: a considerable proportion of Stocksy images have the usual 'stock' look. And a few at least of those which don't are snapshots.
Maybe they should drop that tagline and focus on the Fair Compensation angle.

I'd say some of the top stock producers have done so much of it for so long, that it's hard for them to even perceive 'stockiness', it's like snow to Eskimos.  And buyers saying they want photos that look 'real' - they think they're serious, but what they really want is just different sorts of posing and staging.   This isn't really a putdown.  Stock is a genre, these people have worked in it for years and internalized it and learned how to see and photograph in a certain way.
