Nope. The newest version does this on export.

I am using the current version to manage metadata and am not experiencing this issue.

Without doubt you are dealing with a configuration issue.

You might want to look at the way Graphic Converter does IPTC editing on the Mac.  It just provides a text box for editing keywords, which makes it easy to copy & paste between images.  It also lets you edit keywords on arbitrary groups of images at one time.  Simple and effective, and much lower overhead than Adobe's approach.
