Looks like a great idea for a contest.
The only thing that I would like to see changed is to limit the number of entries. Allowing an unlimited number of entries gives a large advantage to those that submit huge amounts of photos. It also makes judging the images that much more difficult for the judges (since there are more images to judge).
Every photo contest that I have ever been in has limited the number of images that a contestant is allowed to enter. I would recommend limiting the number of entries to three. This will equalize the playing field and help to make judging easier. It will also make contestants think about their submissions, instead of taking the shotgun approach ( and just uploading their hard disk).

Thanks, GeoPappas, for your input!
I'd like to give it a try this way first. We can always tack on a limit in future contests. While the normal upload rules dictate a certain level of quality that will be accepted, I still think there is room for overall quality to triumph over quanitity in this contest.

i am with steve-oh on this, it makes it harder on the judges but quality will win the day and if not; there is always something else coming up ;D

I still stand by my earlier quote :D
