Title: Illustrations and source images... help!
Post by: helix7 on April 29, 2009, 22:54
I've been sitemailing and posting in the forum over there for a few days now without much help in response, so I'm trying my luck here.

I got a rejection notice that said it appeared my image included traced material, and I needed to do two things: upload a source image, and add some text in the description to let buyers know that the images includes material traced from a source photo. I added the text, but I can't seem to figure out how and where to upload a source file. There is no place to attach any additional files like istock does with the release/source file field.

Where at StockXpert can we upload a source file to prove ownership of an image?

I'm not 100% sure, but isn't there an option to upload an additional file/model release in the right-hand column (after you've clicked the 'edit' button for the specific file). I'm sure it's on the page where you can edit things like keywords, title, and also replace the jpeg/zip file?? Honestly can't remember the last time I uploaded an additional file, so sorry if this isn't much help!

Add the source image to the zip.
easy as that.

Wouldn't that then stay in the zip for buyers?

yes. true. Also i don't like that at all. but it is the only option they give.
on the same question they answered me once:

Hi

You can add a watermark to the image the way as you want so the image will unusable.

I hope it will help.

Well that's just ridiculous. I'm not giving them my source files, watermarked or not, so that they can pass them along to buyers. That's just crazy. The source files are all I have to prove ownership of my images.

Not to mention how unprofessional that looks, when buyers open the zip file and find sketches and reference photos. They probably won't know why it's there and will think it's some sort of mistake or error.

So I guess there are just some images of mine that StockXpert won't be getting then.

thijsone  is right, you have to add the file into a zip.
But I was not aware that the customer will get that source file, stupid. I will watermark next time I need.

Maybe you could do a screenshot of your source material. After that email support with a link to the screenshot on your website. It's a roundabout way, but it would keep you from having to put source files into the vector zip.
