Hello all!
This is my first post, although I have been reading the forums quite often.
I'm not on Photos.com arranjement with StockXpert since it started, mainly because buyers can get a regular download and use the files in a way that somewhere else they had to buy an EL.
Putting aside the latest revenue and payments confusion, from your experience, do you think it is worth it to be in Photos.com? Did you notice a increase in revenue and did it affect your sales, EL's in particular, in any other site?
I'm trying to make a decision and I would like your feedback on the matter.
Thanks in advance,
CC

so glad you asked that. i am looking for answers too.
also still confused on why a company would want subs (see my new posting).

You must have missed all the controversy when they rolled out the photos.com deal. A bunch of photographers protested the EL usage without EL compensation and StockXpert was nice enough to change the photos.com EULA to exclude EL type usages.
Here's the statement from Steve on the StockXpert forums (or you can read the thread yourself) http://www.stockxpert.com/forum/show_messages/15291/33 (http://www.stockxpert.com/forum/show_messages/15291/33):
We will exclude the following usages from the standard Photos.com EULA (which covers Photos.com and Photos.com Plus):
a. Physical Items for Resale
b. Print Runs in excess of 250,000
c. Multi-seats for pay-per-download images
Jupiterimages Unlimited Plus
At launch, we will not be able to sell an extended license on the site although we will be able to do so when a customer calls in, which is what we expect to happen in most cases anyway. This limitation will be messaged in the image details window on JIU+. Accommodating this change in JIU+ proved much more problematic. Our solution for launch is not ideal but again, as with Photos.com+, we will follow up with a patch release in a couple of months to add better functionality and the ability to buy an extended license right from JIU+.
We will revise our JIU EULA and, later, introduce a new extended license option.
We will exclude the following usages from the standard JIU EULA (which covers JIU and JIU+) only for StockXpert content:
a. Physical Items for Resale
b. Print Runs in excess of 250,000

FWIW, sales on photos.com are booming.
Now that they have the reporting bug fixed I would say it is definitely worth being on the site. :)

Photos.com bringing some extra sales everyday without having to upload or make extra effort.although all the sales have been .30cent sub sales and I am not big fun of the revenue but (I guess) it is something we learned to live with so I don't see why I should complain.besides there is still chance to sale PPD ,even though the chances seem to be slim. So, for the time being I'll stick with the option opted in.
eta:good to hear some folks doing well with ppd sales on photos.com:)

I would say yes.. Although they are .30 subs, I have a few sales daily as well as some regular downloads, which are normally a couple dollars each.. They are my 3rd best seller.. Like Lisa said now that the controversy and bugs have been dealt with..
-
Hey, Thanks Lisa!
I guess I read the firsts posts until the EL controversy and at that time, that was enough for me to step out and I didn't read much more. I'll read it now carefully because that quote you posted is a bit confusing at first glance.
And thank you tubed and stokfoto for your feedback as well.

CCaetano, it is. Especially taking into account how these bigger sized PPDs bring in per-image incomes easily compared to ELs elsewhere.
p.s.: And lately they're more frequent (at least in my case) as well.
-
Lucky you, I havn't had any PPD'd yet.. Looking forward to getting a few..

I got a sale from photos.com (on my balance it says "photos.com subscription"), but they gave me only 30 cents.
Is it correct ?
Thanks
-
Yes that is correct.. What were you expecting? Photos.com is a subscription service unless you get a x-large or bigger download..

Hang in there waiting for the PPD's. I just had my first two this past week and netted $30. Very nice bonus!
-
Maybe I have to try to opt in too. StockXpert has been dying for me after they introduced photos.com. I'm getting a strong feeling that they are just killing it and using our portfolios to boost photos.com.
-
I just opt-i for Photos.com, hope to grab some ppd on the way... But apparenty it takes a while, sometime up to 3 weeks, for the pictures to show up on photos.com
-
Yes, it does take 2-3 weeks for your port to show up. Mine just did and I have gotten 3 sub downloads in the last 2 days. Hope the ppds come soon, too.

Things are really starting to kick in for me. With the addition of the Jupiter and Photos.com sales along with regular StockXpert sales, my income has tripled this month on StockXpert with a BME by far. Very pleased with this progress ;D
-
I started to get few sub sales, photos.com and Jupiter but far from my BME at StockXpert
-
Actually I never had one PPD sale. But enough of subs to say that I don't make more money from them than before. Subs only replaced my PPD earning. Overall PPD are 10% of my sales now and 90% 0.30$ subscription.
I make the same money there than 6 months ago while others have all improved except for Istock because of the recent issue
-
How do you become a contributer? I went to the site but can't find any way.
