I was totally rejected by SX.  I received a message saying:

We regret to inform you that your artist application was rejected. We are very sorry but at the moment we are not looking for pictures like the ones you uploaded.

When I applied for SS, I had 9/10 accepted.  iS rejected 1 of my 3 and I uploaded another shot and was accepted.  I find this type of rejection odd.

Should I try again in a month or just forget that site?

I got the same rejection on my first batch at StockXpert, the second one went through without issues, and so far they accepted 120 of 126 submitted files.

In my opinion worth to try again.
Beats me why my initial submission got rejected - I used photos that both Shutterstock and Istock were happy with.

I had this response too with photos that other agencies accepted. Not sure what the go is with these guys, but when I have the patience I'll try again. How many times can you try before they'll say they don't want to hear from you again??  ;)

Granted, most of my pictures are scenery shots, but they're nice and I get a lot of d/l's on SS.  I will try again in a month and see how it goes.

Well, I will try again in a month.  If I get rejected again, I'll have to decide if I want to keep trying.  Right now I am processing all of the pictures I have taken in the last three years so none of those were taken specifically for stock.  Perhaps when I get more "stock" type shots, they won't reject me?

Because SS is a different kind of site, they sell almost everything that they accept.
You may try to look for similar photos as yours on StockXpert and see how popular they are. If it's scenery, the odds are they are not popular at all. The problem is not your photos, but the site's ability to sell them.

I take only outdoor photos, and from the micro sites I am satisfied only with SS and IS. DT is borderline, I keep uploading there, but maybe will drop them one day.

The rest of the micros are IMHO a waste of time and bandwidth, as far as scenery/outdoor photos are concerned. With a small portfolio I have better results in higher-priced agencies.

Most of my photos to date are the kind you would find on a calendar.  Pretty.  Lots of color.  However, I have started taking pictures specifically for stock.
So far, I'm not too impressed with IS or DT.  IS has such a limit to uploads (15/wk) and DT takes forever to review them.  SX's site isn't very user-friendly IMO so of all the sites that could've rejected me, I'm glad it was that one.  BigStock also has slow review times.  Right now, besides SS, I like Fotolia and 123...but of course, I just got started with them and haven't sold anything yet.

The scenery shots might be problematic. So far all my rejected shots at StockXpert were for flowers, landscape or animals with "we have too many of these" comment.  I've got to admit, those photos were not spectacular :)

Good luck! BTW, istock took about a month before a first sale, but from then on it picked up nicely.

I got accepted by StockXpert in the end of April after 4 failed applications with the same message and no clue "At the moment we are not looking for pictures as the ones you uploaded."

Changing pictures, subjects, etc., didn't work.

Finally, I got tired with typing my bio and info over and over again. So, I just wrote "please visit my website to see my photography and microstock earnings." Maybe, that worked - my 5th application was accepted.

Do you think StockXpert and other sites reject almost everyone the first time to maybe try and get the best work from people? Or do some people get in on the first try? I found IS a lot more strict on the application photos than they are on the images I'm uploading now. Which is a good thing  ;)

I also had trouble with StockXpert. In the end I got accepted with vectors. But it was worth it, StockXpert is already my second best earner after just 3 weeks.

I got the same message when I applied.  I sent my top selling images. but that is not what they are looking for?  So I deleted their link and won't waste any more time.  At least SS can get you good sales for your efforts; I doubt if StockXpert is in the same league when it comes to sales.

StockXpert is very standard stock oriented. They like iso's, people, and the kind of stuff that's easy to incorporate into designs. I was rejected on my first round as well. Send a variety of styles...sending a group that is basically all the same seems to not butter their pan. They're picky too..my acceptance rate is only about 60% but the sales are modest / steady. Give it another whirl, SS is good, but on its own, it won't pay the bills (for me anyway).

Good luck!

pay careful attention to what they say at StockXpert when they reject your photos. then send something else.
i like StockXpert because their attitude is clean and professional.
they let you know what they have too much of, or if they reject your shot, they give you a chance to correct them for resubmission.

naturally if they say , we don't need these types of shot, then don't send more of those.
i believe nature shots aren't big with stockxpert. no matter how good you are, you have to understand each site has their own needs, and forgot what SS takes.
i did and StockXpert took majority of my later submission, after rejecting 2 of my nature shots and said, "no thanks we don't need this sorts of situations" or something like that.

look at what they sell or their favorites. that's what they want.
then go out and shoot those kinds of shot, they don't want to be SS, they want StockXpert photos.

good luck. try again, i am sure ... if you leave the nature shot to someone else, you 'll have better luck with StockXpert.
 ;)

Nature, landscape images are not popular with StockXpert unless they are outstanding or unique.  I do mostly nature/landscape.  I did get onboard first time around, but over the last 2 years I have had my share of "don't need this kind of image" rejections from them.  It usually has nothing to do with the quality or tech of your shot.  They simply.. don't sell that kind of image.
Just because it sells on SS or IS doesn't mean anyone else will take it. They are all unique in what they are looking for.  Best advice was already given...  listen to the agency.  Once you know what each agency wants....  simply,  that's what you send them. You'll see your acceptance percentage climb and rejections minimize.
