ok - here's my version of the paypal bugs:
login as the buyer 'testing2' it still shows an image1 i paid for awhile ago in my customer license area (this also didn't get any download info) i click to buy a different image2, and it goes to the cart listing 2 x $2. i delete the old image, and click agree but the green box doesnt light up so i cant pay. when i refresh the old image1 is back. i click on image1 and get the image1 page, but clicking on 'download' there (showing only $2, not the $4 it should be if there were still 2 images), and it goes to the cart showing only image2 and now allows me to click the green button.
something's getting left over??

While this may not be a bug it is certainly a problem. I would like the image options on the Symbiostock Images page to be changed. The default option is currently "Trash". It should be either edit or view. See attached.

It's not a default, it's a warning. Nothing will happen until you deliberately click on one of those options.

You're already admin on my site and I'm having the e-mail problem. As of this morning, no e-mail with the password.
Steve, it does not go into the meta description, for which I an thankful as have enough problems gett that short enough at the moment .I think we're mixing 2 different things - metadata here is the exif, xmp and iptc data in the image itself - not the meta description on a webpage

Can I make another suggestion...
Could we have a image search 404-type page available within wordpress so we can edit it how we like, rather than the hardcoded one that exists at the moment with the "No Results found. Try browsing the categories. Maybe you will find some hidden gems!" text.
I believe someone suggested a great option earlier about showing networked results on that page, which would be awesome. But at least using a wordpress editable search 404 would make it easier for everyone to be happy.
(edit - adjusted as I realised its not actually using the 404, theres an ACTUAL 404 for wrong URLs - NOT what I was talking about)

As you may know, each site has public info files at its root level:Now there is an XML version of each of these.

There are also a number of bug fixes.
Issue with Pay Now button still exist:
- add two item to cart,
- go to cart,
- delete one item,
- click on "agree..."
- button is still inactive.
You shouldn't lose any.I did lose changes I had made to some php files, those are overwritten now. But all the other settings are still fine. Minor work to change the php files. But good to know for the next update. Thanks.

I was very happy with how seriously they are addressing the problem. They see it as an issue that potentially affects all of their customers so they need to fix it. The IT guy at my day job said that they have one of the more aggressive and sophisticated spam filter systems so hopefully it's not something that will occur with other systems frequently.
When they get this figured out I will count this as my most satisfying Symbiostock moment to date - fixing a bug for Leo so he doesn't have to do it! ;D

A small oddity I've just noticed: I've been going through the theme removing 'Royalty free' notices because we're also displaying RM pics.

All the code seems to be in the page, as with the keyword and category searches, but no hover icons.
Thanks you for that hard work. Very likely this will be an issue with others too. I'm working on the email system right now since CrackerClips has set me up in a good situation to do so. I'll remove any un-necessary links in the customer emails, and take some other measures to simplify.

no special characters for mine, other than the parens, in ay other the cases I've found
the fact that the data comes from 2 different fields in the exif implies something amiss in the way te desc is extracted (it's not evident in this example, but for a test I had slightly different texts in the 2 fields mentioned above,and both were copied to the sym desc area)
I came across an interesting bug that I noticed because one of my image pages showed two different images - one under the other.
I think this is how it occurs:
I have a number of images that have exactly the same title. Symbio changes the slug after the first one to add "-2" etc. If I upload just a few of those images, and then later upload the rest, then everything is fine - the slugs are still incrementally modified so you don't have a clash.
However - and this is now a bit of conjecture - if I change the title of the image in Symbio, but leave the slug as it is, and then upload similar titled images later, it reuses the original slug name. Then you get two slugs with the same name and the double image page.
Make sense - is that how it works?

That is the one that I saw, and outlined a possible cause a couple of posts back. This illustrates it nicely. Can you check what the image slugs are?

Problem is known (I hope), I wrote about it few days ago. These two images are visible one under another only when you are logged as admin. Guests and other users don't see them at all (clicking on thumbnail of earlier published image leads to "page not found".
Visitors cant see drafts. And I have not seen two identical slugs. They get a follow up number when they are identical. like a -2
Password emails are not being sent. Since i had a registration and a purchase on june 21, i have to assume that buyer got an email and something has changed since then. I have other registrations since then. Is there a way to find out if they have got a

That is SO stupid. Basically you can send an email as long as it looks lame, does not point the user anywhere (like to files) and as far as I know is not very long. Oh, and no images.
I wonder if the purchase emails are similar to the registration mails in the time they take?

Hoping to figure this stuff out soon. If anyone else has this problem please update me. In the meantime, deactivate any plugins that might be interfering...see if it starts to work... and turn them back on. Hope to address this soon as well as creating a cart management plugin.
OK, not a bug, but if Leo is going to do one last major release, would it be possible to display the results of a search against a keyword on my site in the opposite order? At present it displays the most recent images first. I've been going through my files adding the ones that I think are most likely to sell first and as I have moved deeper into my portfolio, I'm now adding good, but perhaps not as great, images. If you search on a keyword, you see my less good images on the first page as a result.

I hope this fix is priority one, too. I havent added any plugins for awhile so i dont think its a plugin problem. I have been making test purchases all along and they worked ok. If i had to guess i would say it has happened since my last theme update, but thats just a guess based on my timeline.
In my case customers are getting the password email because I disabled the symbiostock email plugin..
But they can't get the confirmation email.. they obviously downloaded the files successfully in their download area because I haven't received a single complaint.. and I had enough sales to be able to judge this..

Leo, I have made a purchase on your site to return the test purchase you have made on mine.. along the way I have ran into issues..
Here is my buying experience on your site..
- I have signed up using Internet explorer (windows vista)
- received the password without a problem and completed registration..
- selected an image, and tried to add it to my cart..
- download button was highlighted and the price was reflected there but when I clicked on the "download" button and proceeded to cart there was nothing in my cart..
- tried different files, different sizes, but definitely wasn't able to add anything to my cart..
- I gave up internet explorer because it was impossible to add anything, and make a purchase..
- tried the same in chrome, and this time I made a successful (!) purchase.. made the payment, went back to the site.. the item was still in my cart..
- refreshed the page, tried to leave and return to customer area but the item was still in the cart, and NOT in the download area below..
- removed the item from the cart and tried to refresh again with no success..
- left the page, returned, but the item was still NOT in the download area..
- logged in on firefox, internet exporer and chrome again, but no success..
so, to summarize, the payment went through, but I couldn't download the file.. (It is not a problem for me.. my intention was only to return the money but it was a bad experience if I was an actual customer)
I will let you know if the file appears in my download area at a later time..

This is how the message system presently works:
It uses wordpress's email functions natively. It does some complicated operations to toggle between html and text communications.
How it will work:
Going to use a better PHP class. Going to give option to use HTML and how many links to provide. Going to follow the research you all did on what constitutes spam.
If godaddy still doesn't work with emails after that...can't do much more.
That will hopefully be next right about the time I'm doing the cookie cart. So much to do...
To further answer your question -
A plugin should upgrade and enhance features. It would be silly of me to sell plugins as bug fixes :D
Try out the new version 2.4.6
Also toggling the theme should definitely fix things like the IPN. Please update me on that. There is literally no reason the path should not be updated.
All working for me with 2.4.6.
On the Spam question - we don't we strip out all the links from the registration emails - there are tons of them in there, repeats of the site URL, the customer management bit (when they haven't even registered yet), Symbiostock (why at this stage?). I think a very simple email saying here is the password and here is the login page is all that is needed.

The second issue is bigger. I've done two test purchases of different images of ours and upon downloading the image I see that ALL metadata has been striped out. The metadata for the image is completely blank, copyright unknown, etc. Even the color space of the image isn't known anymore.
We've been dealing with agencies that have striped out our metadata for so long. We just can't do this to our own images! What are the technical issues involved?

Your using GD Library. Imagemagick will apply the file info. Let me try to put in a little more support for GD in the download area. Generally 80% of people (I assume) should see image meta here.

Looked deeper into it -
When an image download occurs the image is dynamically resized and delivered straight to the customer. This saves you space. Applying metadata to the temporary object is not possible right now. Basically getting imagemagick support should be a HUGE priority for anyone with Symbiostock. I understand you have a hosting situation which does not make this easy, so hopefully we can find the solution with your case soon.
I am not changing anything at the moment, still on 2.4.4
I read too many issues with everything at the moment, I will wait for 2.5 to be released when everything is sorted.

Does anyone else use the large latest image slider on their front page - not sure if it is a co-incidence but it does not seem to update with latest images for the last couple of days (on laptop or tablet). Yesterday I deleted it, changed front page template and then reinstalled it before it would start, today I am going to wait and see. It should have Christmassy type illustrations for at least the next 12 hours or so.
I am adding images as we speak, but that latest image widget is working for me. 2.4.82.4.8 also but none of the widgets are accepting changes or updating.
If any of you are using wp-super-cache it will not reflect your changes right away. Other than that, are you referring to them not updating in your admin screen? After you push "save?"

Thats also an odd one that haunts random people. I might have to switch the uploads destination to be a folder outside of the theme one.

This feature needs a jumpstart. Go to your bee admin panel and click the generate image info box....all your dreams will come true. If not let me know.
I didn't mail anyone notes on this. Within 24 hours the images will update by themselves to be ready for the rank system. Let me know if issues exist after above step.

Rhode Island is not pulling up any result, but its also not a keyword I want to split up. It doesnt make sense to add Rhode and Island to get Rhode Island. But it does hurt customer experience and sales if thats not working.I'm working on that at this very minute. Right now search will be bug-less if I can fix this one last challenge.

Not so. Thats an OR operation. AND would be "new" AND "york" and "city" and "flag" ... so only the images sharing those keywords get chosen. Thats how it is now.
I have an idea - a small compromise.
I'll make a small script for the Genetics Lab plugin I made and give it to you. It will take all of your compound words, SPLIT THEM, and add new ones to the original set and RETAIN the original compound word for future use.
If you like that I can set that up for you tonight.

I could implement a search for compound keywords like "Rhode Island" but then it would reject all other AND searches, making "Rhode Island Flag" not show up. Its a horrible situation. I just have to make a database. In the meantime though you can greatly supplement this by your categories and on-site advertising of them.

My Wordfence plugin shows today a bunch of very precise google searches landing on my site. Guess half of the images never showed up because of this.

When I do a search and click on the zoom icon below a thumbnail in the results, the info displayed in the pop-over window lists size options that aren't available for my images. For example, I don't sell the Bloggee size, but it is still listed in the available options. Not on the image page itself, just in this zoom preview pop-over window in search results.

Leo - I'm pretty concerned about the stability of my site right now - I've had about 2 database errors and the performance is really slow. Are you sure 2.5.2 is stable?

I had the same problem ( images to be processed disappearing)... I think they are gone forever. You will need to up load again. I now know not to update while I have images ready to process...

what I started doing was putting uploaded images into a separate folder rather than immediately deleting (I always upload copies from archives). then confirm the images have been processed ok before deleting. a bit less of a hassle this way

I'm not sure I can follow. What do you mean by "immediately deleting"? I don't delete anything (at least not on purpose).
the duplicate desc bug is still there -- intermittent but when it happens it happens to the entire batch -- it's pulling in desc fields from BOTH iptc and xmlWill check that out. It seems to pop up at random times. I'm almost certain the IPTC library I'm using is vomiting up two results, because I only choose one or the other, depending on which is full or which is empty. It will take one choice and move on...

When I need image url, I simply do right-click and "show image" or "show image info", and there is url ready to copy.
