no way to change the ratings or rankings on multiple images selected in bulk edit after search in images
Right now they are edited individually.

....

2.5+ is fairly stable. However this nice round number does not imply any HUGE features, other than very good stability.

....
If I can release latest version tonight, we have some new stats available in Symbiocard (ajt, cascoly, plrang will be curious)

rank_1_images
rank_2_images
rank_3_images

{total of each}

(As you know, these only refer to which images take front seat in your local. Its not a status symbol. So if you have 500 images, and all 500 are rank 1, then you might as well have 500 rank 2 or 3 images.)

rating_0_images
rating_1_images
rating_2_images
rating_3_images

....

filter_level{0-3}
allow_unrated{1 or 0}

.....

what happens right now if you don't rate images? are they set to 2 by default?  if so, what does the 0 rating do?

if all images have some rating, what does the allow-unrated flag do?

does a filter level of 2 show ratings of 1 and 2? or just 1?

2 represents the middle. So making an image a 1st rating, puts it in front. 3rd puts it in back.
So you can judge your own work and decide what the customer sees first, and (not that anyone has low quality stuff :D) you can put the lesser-value stuff in back. Same as some stock agencies probably do, only you know about this and have control over it. :D

The "filter" of which you speak is the content system which I suspect no-one will use. Green, yellow, red.

I am keeping 2.4.9 for now. I have no clue how all that filtering and rating is going to affect things when I dont want to use it or enable it or set it.

Ranking system is for you to put your best work in front. It has nothing to do with anyone else. Rating system (content) will probably not get used anyway. You needn't fear.

I could write a bunch of stuff on it but sadly I'm out of time.

Delete the parent theme (not the child theme - it will be dormant and reappear once you update to 2.5.2)
Upload the new version of the parent theme
Reactivate the child theme.

I've just updated to 2.5.2, but the site seems incredibly slow now...

Just clicking on one of the keywords in the tag cloud takes about two minutes before anything comes up.

It could be the hosting of the site, but it seemed to be OK before I upgraded to 2.5.2. Nothing else was changed - just the new theme from 2.5.0

Steve

PS - and it didn't find anything against that tag - maybe that is that image update issue, but just moving to one of my cat images from the one on the home page takes a long time...

PPS - latest attempt to load home page got Error establishing a database connection

Worrying,,,

I'm pretty sure nothing huge has changed so as to affect much. But you guys will have plenty of time to find the good ol' confort zone since I'll be taking at minimum a month off from here. Got a few things to catch up with.

Its been a great ride!

Leo - I'm pretty concerned about the stability of my site right now - I've had about 2 database errors and the performance is really slow. Are you sure 2.5.2 is stable?

steve

I'm backing out to 2.5.0 so if you try the site, it could be strange...

2.5.1 introduces hooks on the main image page.
2.5.2 intruduces a feature AJT wanted to reduce memory useage, which only kicks on during batch operations (the automated ones mostly)

So perhaps the question is is 2.5.0 stable?
I guess we'll need a group of people to answer that with their combined experiences.

Mostly I see annoyance and the slowness to accept the feature of certain kinds of filtering, and a lot of misunderstanding what giving levels "1,2,3" to your images implies.

And me...I am behind on some life endeavors so mostly I will be honoring the requests of AJT, Cascoly, Amanda, Plrang, and Matt Dixon as they ask for small changes. Besides that we should allow the smoke to settle from 4 months of development.

Also if your getting crawled right now by google or similar and you don't have caching enabled, you will see slowness.

edit - Your site is working great for me :D Looks good too!

edit - second try and its slow. Again it might be activity happening on your site making demands, but if you were happy with 2.5.0 then really 2.5.2 is the same except for the most insignificant changes.

I'm back on 2.5.0 - speed is restored again. It could be Google, but I've never seen that before that it took a minute to load an image.

Anyway, its late and that is enough excitement for me!

Steve

PS - I had a database error trying to go back to the 2012 theme - I've never seen those before on my site. I refreshed the page and the theme loaded, but it was a worrying time.

I upgraded to 2.5.2 and I'm seeing pretty quick response for image loading but I only have about 250 images so that may have an impact.

Small change (none of these are essential btw)

2.5.3 Cascoly tells me of a model / property release bug. I found the defaults were not being applied during initial processing. Also deleted accidentally left block of code in marketing area.

updated from 2.5.0 to 2.5.3, portfolio around 720, site loading no problem fast as usual and I like the ranking idea, we now have full control of showing what we think is the best to customer, one thing we really need now is bulk edit to speed up work.   ;)

Just did the upgrade to 2.5.3, I am also noticing very slow times for clicking on a keyword and waiting for the search results. I'm talking a minute or two for the page to load. SIGNIFICANT BUG, just emailed a screenshot to Leo, once the page does load the SITE IS BROKEN. Even the menu bar is broken!

Also Leo, in the Author Options page you still have an option for datasheets there, even though I think you have removed them?

Seems this big bug only surfaces when clicking on a keyword/tag for an image. Search, category browsing etc all works fine.

Note that these were there BEFORE upgrading to 2.5.3, I was running 2.4.9

But these only appeared this week, never had them before.

Good find! You've found a legitimate bug! If your curious it had to do with fixing the "compound tag" problem. I removed a few lines of code and for some reason, the compound keyword problem is still gone. I'll rush you out an upgrade right now.

Thanks, I'm kinda impressed with myself that I managed to break the navagation bar just by clicking a keyword. Pretty impressive I reckon...  ;)

Its worth mentioning too that this build IS VERY stable. Of course you can't change one thing without affecting another. I'll have this out in a few minutes.

2.5.4 - FIXED Tim's mentioned issue. That one was real :D

Attempting to fix one aspect of tags derailed another. But this seems to work.

What a *** nightmare ***

2.5.5 is THE one you want.

If there are any significant problems now (I mean, really significant...a roach crawling across your monitor does not merit a bug report) then I will probably throw my computer into the ocean.

Thanks to AJT (he really is awesome) I did fix that tag bug. Perhaps it was related to steheap's complaint too...who knows.

I think it was - I was noticing very long wait until the results of clicking on a keyword appeared, and on one occasion it came up with no results on a popular keyword, and there were no categories shown. I thought I mentioned it, but I was worried!!
