From the updates blog:
Beta will be over soon.
This is important: If you haven't yet upgraded your Symbiostock install, please do now: Upgrade Symbiostock http://www.symbiostock.com/ (http://www.symbiostock.com/)
From here on, you will be able to upgrade right in your admin area automatically, not having to re-download and-reinstall. When beta is over, you will not have to do anything drastic except hit the "upgrade" button.
Some important notes for you:
- As everyone starts upgrading, please start re-creating your network. Version 2 sites can only connect with version2+ sites.
- Go to your user area and fill out all of your info. Its necessary for you "Symbiocard" which promotes you heavily.
The version of Symbiostock you may be presently using (v1) is an awesome SEO and promotion tool. v2 is even better. It excels in attribution. The more people use v2 right now, the faster the Symbiostock network in general gains promotional strength.
Get on board!
From here on its just a few small fixes and some updates to the main site.
Its been a fun ride.

Besides all the cool new stuff going on in this 2+ series, search has been greatly sped up thanks to AJT's caching contribution and an after-page-load results fetching method that works with it.

Awesome Job, Leo! Updating from version 1.3.7 went like a breeze. Can't find any problem with my meanwhile heavily customized child theme. Thank you so much!!!
I filled in my Symbiocard, which is online now (I hope). I will start uploading photos in earnest beginning next week.
So, how do I build my network? - I just punch in the web addresses of Symbiostock sites I want to network with and if their Symbiocards are available the system does the all hard set-up work? Did I understand that correctly?

At this point there are two ways.
1. Type in their address.
2. Upload their symbiocard.
Due to a small addition I have to make, uploading their symbiocard will send them an e-mail notification, but adding their address will not.
In either case, all the hard work is done. It simply takes their symbiocard and populates all the info.

I have installed 2.2.7 to my stockimages.kerioak.com site (and disabled the test site from the network). I cannot work out what I am doing wrong but I cannot access my "author page" - it goes straight to the front page of my site
Edited to add - in themes it still shows the Beta version (even though 2.27) and not the arti-burdock logo shown on the test site - not sure if this is relevant so will mention it anyway

I updated flashstockphoto.com to Version 2.2.7. and did some tests:
- I entered my symbiocard details ... worked perfectly!
- I added clipartillustrations, imageborealis and quailrunphoto to my network and did some test searches... worked perfectly!
- I uploaded and processed two photos ... worked perfectly!
- I asked a friend to do a test purchase ... worked perfectly!
So everything seems to be just fine ... CHEERS, LEO!

Thanks Leo my update went pretty smooth :) other than a blip with the symbiocards.
I have some spaces left if anyone wants to network, I have about 800 images mainly landscape and animals.

I am shortly going to give up on this and start on something else as I have deleted, uploaded (software and deleted other admins ) but cannot work out why I cannot see my Author page (and thus my symbiocard) - I can see other peoples and other parts of the network.
Can anyone else see my author page/symbiocard ?

Just upgraded to 2.7.7. I have lost all the CSS customizations I have done. I have de-activated and re-activated the Clean Theme three times now. The CSS code is still in the editor window. But I do notice that there in nothing in the Edit CSS window. I have been away from this project for a couple of weeks, but I am pretty certain I had other CSS changes in there. I unfortunately did not think to check that before upgrading, as I could have copied the code and pasted into Text Wrangler. I did do a backup of my site.
Also I made changes to the footer.php file. In the past, whenever I have upgraded, I just reloaded the footer.php file. I have done that three times now, and I have a gray footer with 2/3 of my info missing. I have checked my widgets and indeed, footer 1/3 is there but others are gone. :(
Any ideas how I can get all of this back?
I havent even tackled the .csv, symbiocards stuff. I was afraid of this.

Update: I just discovered that all information in my profile was gone ... I don't know how it happened, but now it's back.

Same happened to me ... the content of 3 was found in 1, the two others were gone completely ... I have not much there, so it was no problem to restore it for me.
I actually just found them, fortunately. They had moved to the left side under a de-activated category. And yes, 3 was in the 1 slot. So I moved them around, reuploaded the footer.php file, and all that is back to normal.
My custom CSS is all gone from the Clean Theme, though. I thought the whole point of having a child theme was so that any changes made to parent would not touch child. Guess I will have to redo all the CSS and keep backups of that. <sigh>

I seem to remember that someone put some things in the child theme such as footer or header changes that call on other files and put the other files there as well. Leo did mention he would find a more efficient way of doing this so perhaps what has happened is that the files they are called on have changed?

All of that is fixed as you mention. This is the only time this will happen - for child themes you must recopy the files u modified from the new theme vsn and then remod them.

I loaded your Symbio card earlier today, but just got around to test it and it takes me to your home page. Not your author page. So something is still wrong.

Same problem.... was just about to post this.
I think I can answer this one - you need a specific image for it 150 x 150 pixels, upload it and put the full path to it in your Profile area, Glenn yours currently goes to http://stockimages.glennspecht.com/wp/wp-content/themes/symbiostock/img/generic-user.jpg (http://stockimages.glennspecht.com/wp/wp-content/themes/symbiostock/img/generic-user.jpg) - if you put your own image up as generic-user.jpg or changed the last bit to your name yours would appear. I am tending to add mine to to my child theme so I know where all my personalised image bits are.

toggle theme? If it was generated it should work. Otherwise I will look into it

I have toggled (put another theme in then Symbiostock again), deleted it, reinstalled, tried with and without child theme, tried different amounts of data (as it got a bit long) but nothing I have thought of trying so far works

Today's report is struck between: Works great no problems! And a few random people are reporting problems. I'll get to the bottom of the random issues and that should be everything.

Yup, I had no problems at all with it on my testing site which is why I have been so surprised at the problems with my main one - I think jsfoto has same/similar problem.
Another thing - might be worth mentioning to everyone - for when it does show up, that there are model/property release buttons that are set to "yes" - could they be set to no or N/A as default please? Or have a setting to set the default setting :)

YES, The author avatar works. It was just me. I got confused between wp post, attachment and actual image. Must have been late last night...
Another thing I noticed: My similar images widget apparently stopped working.

My site has uploaded the newest theme nice and easily and I don't see any issues yet. Downside was that my footer text boxes were gone but that was minor. Also I can't remember who I was linked to previously! :) I can see my card and info and stuff so my site is ready to link (http://photominingstock.com/earth (http://photominingstock.com/earth)). I haven't updated my food site with my Symcard (I don't know how to do multiple sites on one domain since we only have one card) but I'll figure it out today I imagine.
Great job Leo! This is incredibly cool. Now to find the best sites to link to...

Nice catch! Yes, I guess it has to be there AND it has to be activated for the similar images widget to work. At least activating it solved my similar images issue. I have no clue, though, why it got deactivated...

Ah, thanks for that tidbit. My next question (one of many) was going to be...what happened to similar images? I will activate it (I deactivated it because I didn't know what it was and there is an update for it)

And I see some people have Symbiostock Network pages with their symbiocards showing. How do I do that?

if fields are empty they don't show up in the csv -- eg symbiostock_personal_photo symbiostock_gallery_page
this can mess up programs that expect to find those fields in the symbiocards

Hi Cascoly, I did not have my area in the test site either and that worked, cannot work out why this one won't, not putting location in though, the software (google?) will not just accept what I put and wants to add its own imaginary details.

Clicking under your author tag (under each image) it takes me to your network: http://cathyslifestockphotos.com/symbiostock-network/ (http://cathyslifestockphotos.com/symbiostock-network/)
Under that is an extended network. You can generate that in your marketing tab. Or your site does it once a day.
Regarding other minor issues, I'm on them right now and will have an update if needed.

Yes! That plugin is gold. Was created by a wordpress person who responded to the issues of this theme. Love that plugin. Treasure it.

for portfolio focus can you add 'illustration' as another option? the choices don't describe things like maps, old anatomy drawings, etc

I noticed that everyone's symbiocard is named the same thing. So to tell someone where to get my card, I can give them the url http://cathyslifestockphotos.com/symbiocard.csv (http://cathyslifestockphotos.com/symbiocard.csv). Correct?
edit: Answered my own question: clicked on my link and yes, it downloads my card. Sweet!

You just look at the theme and it will tell you the version number you have and the one available. It says "update" regardless of whether your current, but pushing the update button will automatically install for you.

I have loaded 10 sites in my network page... then did a search on my site for Water.
I was very impressed with the speed.
But ( always has to be a but) the no 9 and 10 sites displaying on my page are the same site, but loading at different speeds/ times.
I assume ( though I have not confirmed this) that one of my sites does not have any images that fit the search.
BTW very impressive Leo well done.

Just to confirm you had the last two be separate sites on purpose? Or is it duplicating?
But they will load at different times since two separate requests are being made and thats probably how your site responding...one after another.

This was a plugin problem: WordPress SEO
I use the same one without problems, so there is probably an author related setting or some sort of rewriting happening. This might be the case with other instances of "no author page" being reported. Stands to reason - you set up SEO YOAST options before the author page existed. Might just need to reset it.

The last 2 sites ( #9 http://www.picturemojo.co.nz (http://www.picturemojo.co.nz) and #10 http://shaunwstock.com (http://shaunwstock.com)) are different but #9 http://www.picturemojo.co.nz (http://www.picturemojo.co.nz) displays twice. I checked #10 http://shaunwstock.com (http://shaunwstock.com) does have images with the search term ( water) but the site was not displayed on my site.

I have done a couple of test searches:
1. Before, even if my network people had no images, their logo appeared. Now, it seems like only those that have an image that matches the search shows up. Is this correct? Makes sense, if so.
2. I searched for the term hot dog. I have several images with the both the keywords hot dog and hotdog. Mine come up under hot dog, but not if I search for hotdog. Also, I know at least one of my network peeps has an image that was keyworded hot dog, which is why I searched, but their image did not come up.
Are there still issues with search?

however, when I do a search on my site for 'dog' it correctly says there are no pix , but it doesn't do a network search - it does show the network directory box

Still working out various little kinks.
Search has been far improved from what it was before but there are still a few little wordpressy quirks to amend. Will be fixed soon. The bigger challenge of this project has been working with wordpress's search methods. I feel temped to make a dedicated symbiostock image table just to cater to the unique search needs.
Someone is helping with it btw. For me its just another detail.
Long story short though things are generally "ok" except for hot dogs. :D

Sorry typing on a kindle makes things harder to explain, especially when it modifies all your spelling :D
The biggest inconvenience most people will experience is if you built a child theme and modified templates. NOT css...css remains unaffected. but if you copied single-image.php to your child theme folder to modify it, you will have to do those modifications again or you will be lacking certain things.
I haven't seen many people complain on this but you can be aware of it :D. If you have the ability to modify a child theme on its template files I suppose you'd probably anticipate that.

I see you fixed some things? Let me know what the problem is. It shouldn't generate errors.
WHen you upgrade it will remove some of your footer stuff. Just put them back (find them in the un-used widget area) and they should stay put with future upgrades.

I didn't build a child theme or modify any templates. I didn't copy single-image.php to my child theme folder or modify it. I simply took Clean Theme and made changes to the CSS. After I uploaded 2.2.7, all of the CSS was back to Amanda's default CSS (in the Editor window). All the CSS that I modified in editor window (child) was gone. I had to redo it all. This time I copied it into Text Wrangler to save, though.

I'm getting the following error messages when I edit a picture and publish it. Also when I check the "update all existing images with new values" check box on the Author Settings page. It didn't seem to effect the images, they appear to have processed fine, but it does take me to blank page without any links or tabs to get out of it. Any thoughts on what's causing it?

I think that's fine - it shows up on four new images uploaded today. I had the error messages on three of the four updated and when I did the "update values" process too. I'll can try copying and pasting the watermark info in again to see if that makes a difference.

The last 2 sites ( #9 [url]http://www.picturemojo.co.nz[/url] ([url]http://www.picturemojo.co.nz[/url]) and #10 [url]http://shaunwstock.com[/url] ([url]http://shaunwstock.com[/url])) are different but #9 [url]http://www.picturemojo.co.nz[/url] ([url]http://www.picturemojo.co.nz[/url]) displays twice. I checked #10 [url]http://shaunwstock.com[/url] ([url]http://shaunwstock.com[/url]) does have images with the search term ( water) but the site was not displayed on my site.
I had some time so I thought I would work on this.... and it is getting strange... I now only have 9 sites.... # 10 http://shaunwstock.com (http://shaunwstock.com) has disappeared out of my list...but when I do my search now I have 10 sites, with the last one just showing the ladybug and the spinning colours, not a repeat of #9
Does this mean that my #10 site is off the net? I can still go directly to the site:http://shaunwstock.com

Is your watermark set properly? To a link that has it? Copy/paste it into your browser just to make sure.
I think that's fine - it shows up on four new images uploaded today. I had the error messages on three of the four updated and when I did the "update values" process too. I'll can try copying and pasting the watermark info in again to see if that makes a difference.
So where did we end up? If you want you can set me up with an admin account and I can look at it.
That may have solved the problem. The link I pasted in was the same as the one it was replacing and the watermark had appeared on the uploads that gave the error messages but when I just did a new test upload I didn't get an error message.
Edited to add - I just realized it happened after I published, not after processing to drafts. I'll go publish now and see if the problem is solved.
OK - I didn't get the error when publishing the test image but when I did the "update with new values" under the author options I get the error message about 180 times.

WHen you upgrade it will remove some of your footer stuff. Just put them back (find them in the un-used widget area) and they should stay put with future upgrades.
mostly unchanged -- I still get those extra features on my main page & I cant add anyone to the network after the first.

You just look at the theme and it will tell you the version number you have and the one available. It says "update" regardless of whether your current, but pushing the update button will automatically install for you.

issue from early 1.x version is back.
symbiostock_network_search=1&symbiostock_network_info=1 is visible now, so xmls will be in google again.
And 'Exclude' still seems not to work. When checked and saved it is still checked and site is excluded, but after page refreshing all checks disappear. And after network scanning sites are again included.

Another issue: I have done a brand new test purchase and the images were still in the cart even after refreshing the page.. I had to clear the cart, leave that page and come back again to see the purchased image below where it should be..
and another issue: I didn't receive a purchase notification email to my main email address as before.. was this on purpose?

the problem on my site couldn't have been caused by me, because it was working before the upgrade..

to provide further details:
My admin account is succesfully receiving emails about user registration.. but they do not receive their password emails as stated above..
- for example christine, I have received an email letting me know that you signed up, but apparently you didn't receive anything..
- also, the purchaser did not receive purchase confirmation email during my test purchase..
so there are email notification issues that I never had in previous versions..
(just to remind you, this is version 2.3.0)

I tried creating a new account on your site and did not receive a password email as well.. so this is a general issue with 2.3.0

my site does not send passwords during registration.. apparently not even to junk mail folders?

Best solution in my opinion would be to let customers "create their own passwords" during registration and not have to go back to their email boxes.. maybe some kind of captcha would be good if people are concerned about security.. (I am not too concerned about that.. and would rather let people create their own passwords)

Did you check to see what template your page is using? If it is using one of the "Network" template, it will cause this format to show up.

It looks like you've set your network page as your home page.
but that's the point - this happened as soon as the new version came up - I couldn't have set it earlier because there wasn't a network template or network page

Did you upgrade consecutively or is this an upgrade from some earlier 2+ series, or is this an upgrade from 1 series? I've been tracking tons of stuff, so forgive me if I must ask :D.
Its expected that upgrading from 1 will discombobulate stuff since templates have changed.
Mostly what we are seeing now are isolated instances of stuff, unique to people, so that makes it harder to judge.

Its stuck in a loop, and I don't have anything in the theme that would cause it to loop in that. Strangely enough its sending you an email regarding your theme version being 1.3.7 but the email is coming from 2+ series.
It might be a plugin, but I have no way of knowing.

I see something strange when I do a search on my site, my images show up with the keyword I search by, and I get a banner on the bottom with Cathyslifestockphotos and 4 image numbers below the banner. If I refresh the page, the 4 images show up one at a time, but they go immediately back to image numbers only. If I goto Cathylifestockphotos and try the same search (chicken) I see here images with that keyword, and banners and pictures (mine included) for each artist she is networked with. Any idea why her images don't show up on my site, only the image numbers?

I'm seeing that as well, some of Cathy's images have no thumbnails, but the main image pages are OK.

Ok, lets detour to this thread and re-log the fresh bugs (mmm...fresh bugs...) that we've found. I wanted to release this as non-beta to the public soon, but its still too early.
