Leo (I think) , you mentioned recently creating searches that would bring up for example wonderbread if you searched for bread. If I am remembering correctly (cannot find the post) am not sure this is such a good thing as it would bring up, for example female when searching for male and lots of other unwanted search results.
Phrases are much more important, I was looking for mountain yesterday and a bike appeared, I realised it must be a mountain bike but by being used as separate words it was a "wrong" result. Is there a good way of getting phrases to show up?

one simple approach is to restrict phrase searches to those enclosed in quotes - but this has other implications:
search 'animal bird' get correct results
immediately search 'animal' by editing the search string (deleting ' bird') - get nothing
search 'bird' get correct results
search 'animal' get correct results
turns out, that when editing the phrase 'animal bird' to 'animal' the program ACTUALLY searches for 'animal ' ev en though 'animal' is showing in the search phrase. i just didnt notice this when it said no results for 'animal ' on the results
on my site (I did not use the single quotes)

btw, using quotes doesnt matter
enter "civil war" (with quotes) and i get all my civil war images even though i do NOT have the phrase 'civil war' as a keyword but only separate 'civil' and 'war'
'simple' fix - change punctuation to spaces, then trim any search phrase to remove leading or trailing spaces or punctuation
design decision needed as to whether quotes should be noticed or not -- if so, then not only a search should find that phrase AND also any image that contains the individual words of that phrase, since many of us keyword for sites that do not allow phrases as keywords
