A testing branch - 2.5.6

https://github.com/orangeman555/symbiostock/blob/uploader_fix/symbiostock.zip?raw=true

The ONLY change on this is the uploader, which will fix your issues with the uploader reporting various errors. It will be merged with the main branch (eventually) when it is found to be working for everyone.

Here is a chance to mention something as well -

Not every problem with Symbiostock is necessarily because of Symbiostock.

Here is the thread where I discovered an interesting fact, which would explain why, gradually, more people had problems with the uploader regardless of version.

http://wordpress.org/support/topic/theme-directory-blocked-off-from-public-access?replies=10

I decided to address this this morning because this represents the core of the theme, and I cannot allow random people to have this problem.

So do I treat this as a theme and do a theme update? I've unzipped it and it looks like that's what it is but as I'm a n00b, I just want to check...

Yes, this is technically a theme update. Its just not required for everyone. It will be included once I know for sure there is no issue, which is it appears there isn't.

This is maddening, it was working so well, whatever was in the update that came into my dashboard automatically blocked the uploader! I've tried everything I can think of and I've been computing for 26 years since DOS on a Tandy 1000!

Uploader now shows up after trying to install fix but ADD FILES button is dead....

Do I have to delete Current SymbioStock theme to add new uploader fix properly?

Will I lose all my current Settings and Work or is it like a skin?

Ok, forcing myself to go to bed....

I let this run a while with people using it before I made it an upgrade. Funny its now that someone reports a problem.

If its not working (which really there is no reason it shouldn't unless I'm really ignorant of something) just revert back to 2.5.5 and you should be fine.

Maybe some other people can let me know if a similar thing happens.

When something stops working just slap your monitor. It usually works.

...got it working.

It might be useful to others in the future if you shared the issue and the solution.

Absolutely. It's known as "percussive maintenance".

Who is your host?
You may also need to adjust your php.ini = http://www.symbiostock.net/increasing-the-memory-for-symbiostock-sites/

Im with Dreamhost.

Im uploading small batches of 10 images max size 10mb, nothing dramatic. When i hit proces uploads, they just go MIA. Managed to get 26 photos online in 24 hours of working on it....

After hitting process, all photos are gone, but after reloading the page some are still in the processing area, the rest are just gone from the site.

If some are still in processing are you may be uploading in non sRGB
I would still check you php.ini and see if it needs increasing

Doubt that is the problem. Cant even upload a single photo now. Shows uploaded 100%, hit process...no file.

okay had a friend fix the bug in Imagemagick and things are running now. But still get this error msg: Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in /home/dykningithailand/stockphotos.sorenegeberg.com/wp-content/themes/symbiostock/inc/classes/network-manager/network-manager.php on line 915

Which according to him , a theme error.

Either way, it was a memory issue with imagemagick, not the theme. Increased PHP memory on the server and restarted fastCGI. Working now, but still with the error message. I'll live with that.

You just have to deactivate/activate it which re-runs the installer. It will create the folder and the prob should be fixed.

I also get this error when uploading

Insufficient memory (case 4) `/tmp/magick-MlcOx49v' @ error/jpeg.c/JPEGErrorHandler/316
Using ImageMagick (exec enabled). info: Image Processing.

I tried increasing the memory in wp-config, didn't work

Some files seem to go through, but most won't.

What could be the problem?

I'm leaving it for now, because it's driving me crazy. Hopefully someone can chime in about this issue

Some additional information:

I upload EPS + JPEGs, and they go to the "process images" tab, but the problem occurs when I try to move them to drafts or publish them.
I use Hostgator for webhosting, and I've been using them for 4 years (maybe something needs to be updated on their part?)

Also, I saw a thread yesterday evening about Symbiostock and decided to try it, and has been very pleasantly surprised by how easy the setup was (okay, I'm a routined WP user, but I expected more things to go wrong). Also there are some pretty good manuals for initial setup at the Symbiostock site. Nice. Here's my progress so far:

http://www.buyillustrations.net (I also bought the domain yesterday evening, it's not original or funny or anything but hopefully it will drive some traffic from Google ? Who knows.. Anyways, looking forward to actually launching the site with my entire port)

So far I've only uploaded JPEGs but there are some issues with memory limits on the server with larger images.

See these threads in the Symbiostock forum (which you should join as it's the best place to ask for technical support)

The memory limits need to be increased in your php.ini file. I am on bluehost, and upon wp installation, I did not have a php.ini file. The bluehost techs created it for me. Mine lives now in the root folder public_html, but yours might be somewhere else, depending on your host. There are many threads here in the Symbiostock>Tech Support area about increasing memory limits.

Here's a thread in the other forum about it:

Thanks jsnover and cathyslife :)

I went on a live chat with the Hostgator support and the guy worked for an entire hour to get it fixed, and was in fact at the point of giving up when suddenly he got it to work. Fantastic.

Looking so much forward to get to the network part, but before engaging in the network I need to set up the site, design it, write FAQs, upload images and do some sandbox testing.. I don't even know how the network works yet.. But will be interesting to see.

I'm feeling positive about this, because I only need to earn $15 for it to have been a worthwile investment - and it also seems logical to have an agency where you yourself are the boss and get to decide categories, pricing, discounts, which images should be featured and where to lead the customer. Even if it only generates $50/year I will consider it worthwile.

I bought ktools for something like $300-400 a couple years ago but never got the site up and running because I lost interest quickly, so it was a total waste of money for me.
I'm much more excited about this because of the opensource and network aspects, and also because it's so easy to change things in Wordpress.

Thanks again
