Looks like the image processing has to do with how much meta data in embedded in the image.  I successfully updated 5 images this morning, they had all the meta data filled out.  The ones last night had little or no metadata.

My understanding was the images without metadata automatically go to draft?

that's what was stated originally but it's never been the case - anything can be published

also, I've been trying to track down why some images WITH metadata don't get read by sym and some agencies -- so far the only thing these images have in common is they were not taken in a camera - ie, were created starting w a blank file in ps, so all the camera data is missing.  that shouldn't matter for title, etc yet somehow it dies, but notconsistently

Search:
When I search for white background, then images with "white" and "background" as separate keywords are found, but no image with "white background" as single keyword.

Cart:
Not bug maybe, but I think that "Pay Now" button could be inactive, when cart is empty :)

I see this too on my own site. I have several images from Hilton Head South Carolina. If I search for "Hilton Head" I get zero results. But if I search for Hilton, or Head, I get the results I am looking for. I have "Hilton Head" as a single key phrase in my iptc data.

I have updated my linked sites.  I have set my author page to display both detail and simple widgets.  There appear in the correct order.  I only have 5 so I don't know if that makes a difference.

After doing the Link Site update, I checked my inbox and spam holding.

1.  I discovered that my ISP host automatically holds any email that has the same from and to address.  No way around that.  So I have to check my spam folder daily.  Don't know what we can do about that.
2.  I have attached a screen shot of my inbox.  As you can see I got a total of 15 emails concerning the update.  5 were copies of notifications to my Network members, 10 were virtually all the same.

I've cleaned up how many mails you get - your site will email you once per event.

Also very important.

Please dropbox me the files that make your site crash/do not get processed so I can see exactly what is happening. Unless I can duplicate your problem I cannot fix it.

V 2.1.6 - uploaded 21 pictures and processed fine (so much easier when you don't have to add SEO or change titles and descriptions).

There is a problem with the network list though.  I think you may have played with it during the night (my night) ?  as names were in a different order.

Rather than try and explain I will show some screenshots of the names I have in the network and how they appear in my profile

1.

2.

3.

One extra thing I think this does show is how few of us are likely to use photos of ourselves :)

It may have shuffled a bit, but you may notice some up/down icons? I put in the feature (because of your reminding me :D ) to be able to sort the order at which your network is displayed. Just click them up and down and save.

Leo; I sent your a dropbox share.  There are 6 images and two screen captures.  All images uploaded but only 4 processed to draft.  The screen captures are showing the imaged to be processed and which ones were actually processed.  Let me know if you need anything else.

I still have the question about the author page.  I have updated all the information, but don't know where to go next.

Thanks.

David.

If you check your little "badge" under your images, the dropdown should take you to the author page.

=========== 2.1.5
upload, process, then edit several slides, setting category to india

try to publish - get

Warning: unpack() [function.unpack]: Type A: not enough input, need 1, have 0 in /home1/cascolyi/public_html/symbiotest/wp-content/themes/symbiostock/inc/classes/PHP_JPEG_Metadata_Toolkit/IPTC.php on line 263

Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at /home1/cascolyi/public_html/symbiotest/wp-content/themes/symbiostock/inc/classes/PHP_JPEG_Metadata_Toolkit/IPTC.php:263) in /home1/cascolyi/public_html/symbiotest/wp-includes/pluggable.php on line 876

but  they are still published
=========== 2.1.5
edit 1 image -- mangos, turemeric
set food, india as categories, publish -- looks ok, but when i go to image page
http://cascoly-images.com/symbiotest/image/mangos-turmeric-and-green-bananas/

under cascoly / author avatar it says:
Warning: strpos() [function.strpos]: Offset not contained in string in /home1/cascolyi/public_html/symbiotest/wp-content/themes/symbiostock/symbiostock_author_box.php on line 69

similar for other published images

on processing
Invalid Date - must be YYYY-MM-DD format

---- minor
upload date doesnt have time - so when  i uploaded last night at 1 am, then today, the earlier ones sho up first in my drafts

also, if i sort by upload date, latest first, then sort by title, it shows me title, sorted by EARLIEST upload date (i was trying to find most recent items with no title)

--
also, all thumbnails in list of image are shown as vertical, which sometimes makes it diff to know the picture

Here is a nice update:

This finishes all of the "features" I had to get running for this release. From here on its just bug fixes.

Some things:

  • Your site updates your info every hour, and fetches everyone else's symbiocards every hour. Its an easy non-consuming task. This means the whole network will never be more than an hour old!
  • Every day your site spiders your friend's network, and populates an extended directory. This could go further than friends-of-friends...instead could go to friends-of-friends-of-friends...but mostly we just wanted to get a working example of it and keep it simple while the network is still small. In fact, going three levels deep might be more than enough for creating a local extended directory. Please keep in mind this feature benefits more than human browsing - its in fact a legitimate and non-spammy backlink directory.
  • You can initiate a network scan in your marketing tab. Its fun.
  • Networks who have no results for a given keyword do not show up for the party on the results page. Keeps things simple and non-distracting.

See the new extended network page. This is an example, but could easily contain hundreds of authors:
http://www.clipartillustrations.com/symbiostock-network-directory/

Here is the more informative "my network" page, in case you missed it:
http://www.clipartillustrations.com/symbiostock-network/

And here is your author page, in case you missed it:
http://www.clipartillustrations.com/author/leo-blanchette/

Also more updates, for those who may not have been following until how:
  • There are now network widgets to show your network associates.
  • There are widgets for "latest images" and "featured images" sliders.
  • Your network management admin is far far improved.
  • Related images are now populated using a special plugin (developed from Symbiostock's forum activity in wp.org)
Plus there must be more stuff that I am not remembering :D.
But its getting good now.

From here on its just bugs and tweaking. I think we have all the functionality needed, except for a few requests cascoly made for keyword lists and such...
Thanks for testing guys. Big thanks to everyone. I think we're within a few days or so of releasing this officially. Go ahead and bug me with more bugs.

Looking really good.

I did notice a problem with the network list.  The linked sites on the control page versus what is displayed under the images.  Two of my links are repeated  under the images.

See attached.

Thank you! Thats really weird. What happens if you re-save them out of curiosity? I know its not a fix...just curious.

You threw me a curve ball! Opening up the file in bridge (bridge is very dependable) I found two of them (the two that were crashing) did not have title or description - and a post will not be created (ie, fail) if if two of those are lacking.

I had this covered before...I don't know why it stopped filling in generic information... oh well. I'll fix it. Glad we got through that one!

I had not finish with bridge before I uploaded that group of photos, so it was a mixed bag.  Glad you found the issue.

I have been testing but have not found any problems other then those you already know about.

Leo, this is old news, but did you see Paul Melcher's blog on the 8th?
http://blog.melchersystem.com/2013/05/08/crowd-managed-photo-agency/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=crowd-managed-photo-agency

Yeah, I saw that a while ago - I love comparison here:
Quote
I remember reading, a few years back, about the largest know living organism in the world. Located under the Oregon forest, it is a 2,200 year old fungus whose fruits, or otherwise known as mushrooms, peek out here and there. Probably because of its un appealing nature, fungi are poorly known and it is estimated that millions of yet unclassified species exist. What has been recently discovered is that they seem to operate as a network inside the forest, communicating information from trees to trees via the moist soil, somewhat informing and organizing the environment it feeds upon

No, we are not turning into botanists here, although it is also a fascinating subject. Rather, it is the first thought that sprung when I discovered Symbiostock: An underground, little known network of related organisms thriving thanks to symbiosis.

In fact, going three levels deep might be more than enough for creating a local extended directory.

We could test "six degrees of separation" theory :)

Bug:
Now, after updating, Wordpress says "You have version v2.1.8 installed. Update to 2.1.8."
and in themes tab: " View version 2.1.8 details or update now.".

And questions:
How to show similar images under image now?
I tried to put "Related Posts by Taxonomy" widget, but with no success :)

I think that my bio and photo under every image is too much :)
Maybe an option?
