Yes, the network results will get their own special attention in a while. After improving search I'm going to devote a few weeks to the networking system. When its done it will be like your own little simplified Symbiostock social network.

A little secret: A caching plugin will fix your load time issue. Downside: If your network adds something new, their old results will still show (even if they were empty) until you update the cache.

Ok, I've added this but how often should I clear the cache? We're all madly uploading images so does it make sense to leave it off until things have settled a bit?

Yes

Your category / images / blogs / pages are mainly what gets crawled, and those are pretty fast. So unlikely bad score from google. Your users (which still have yet to start accumulating) will notice it though. You can afford to hold off on caching I would say.

I just wanted to ask if someone is using some kind of cache and how it works with Symbiostock :)
I'll try it.
For me network communication is very slow. My server is in Europe, so pings are about 200-300ms and it can discourage others to link with my site, because it will slow down their searching.
Nice to read, that Symbio network will be much faster, but I think that it is not stupid idea to move my server to bluehost. Networking with Symbiostockers having servers there should be very fast even now :)

And, by the way, something I mentioned earlier:
My comments are off and they are not displayed, but when image is processed directly with 'Process to publish" function (without editing), comment settings are overrided in image page and fields for comment are visible. When this page is edited and updated, they disappear.

I wonder if we should have a list of live sites so that they do not currently link to those that are still being worked on.? I think I am at least a couple of weeks away as want to have a good number of images up plus get the faster search Leo is talking about as they can be a bit slow at times, more so if it cannot find images from network members than when it can I think

A little off topic, but here's my first real write-up about Symbiostock:

None of the changes that I tried worked, so I just restored it back to the original config and now it works fine.  Even the large images are uploading and processing now.  Go figure.

Try:

##

[php]

;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;
; Resource Limits ;
;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;

max_execution_time = 30     ; Maximum execution time of each script, in seconds
max_input_time = 60   ; Maximum amount of time each script may spend parsing request data
memory_limit = 512M      ; Maximum amount of memory a script may consume (62MB)

; Maximum size of POST data that PHP will accept.
post_max_size = 25M

; Maximum allowed size for uploaded files.
upload_max_filesize = 35M

#####

Name it:
php.ini
and place it in your :
public_html
file

I have no idea if this will work but it is the relevant bits I have pulled out of mine.  You can adjust the figures but these currently work for me (using Justhost)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Two Positive changes
1.  When you select All Images / Drafts to work on it takes you back to drafts when you return to all images, much easier than keep having to select that option.
2.  Not sure if this is a change or not, just not noticed it before.  If you accidentally upload duplicate image and then navigate to the front end page for that image it shows both of them  - means you can easily delete the second one
Leo - can you please add to your list of bug fixes to-do, that menu CSS one? I mentioned it in another thread, about the menu losing styling if it has no link attached to it?
Thanks
4 little things to consider...(as numbered in the screenshot)
1. The buyer is presented with a randomly generated number based on the number of the image (when it was uploaded) - Can we please get rid of that number, and give the file's Title here instead?
2. Needs a $ sign before the figure (or correct sign depending on currency)
3. Instead of Get Licenses, which new buyers probably wont understand, perhaps "Complete Transaction" or "Purchase" or "Proceed to Payment"?
4. Why are these lines here? Where is content for this section found?
Network search error. Not sure if bug or host issue.
It should be working. Are you sure you set everything up properly?
But this one, it baffles me.
I have a keyword nature at least from two files. But it appears Page not found.
http://cheapvectors.com/blog/?image-tags=nature
Then I search vectors, no problem, I found my two files from my own site.
Then I search clouds, no problem, I found one of my files and from several from network sites.
So one of your images has the keyword "nature" in it and its not getting found?
The only way that *might* be happening right now (and its technichally a bug) is that somewhere the slug for the keyword might have been changed. If you go into your keywords area in the admin, you might have a keyword "nature" that has a slug "nature-2". let me know if thats the case and I'll add it. It should have been fixed, but there is probably still ways to cause it to happen.
Oh, you're right. Got it. It probably got confused with the Nature category.
Now, thinking of how to fix this.
BUT you DID find a bug! Unless thats left over from a few weeks ago, that should not have happened! So the BIG question is did that just happen, or had you already established your categories/keywords in the initial releases?
I just change the slug of the Nature category into nature-images.
I don't even remotely agree with no1.. numbers are good..
The rest: I don't mind..
I did not establish my keywords in the initial release.
I had this one the other day, and you partly fixed it, Leo. What had happened was that the custom category 'Australia' and the keyword were both pointing to the same database reference, so if I edited the slug for one the other changed as well. I fixed it by deleting the category and remaking it, then reassigning it to everything with that keyword.
