Leo

I just did a test registration at my site to make sure all was well.

I noticed that the email sent with the password has "Thank you for your purchase at Backyard Stock Photos" - when they haven't bought anything, they are just registering.

Also, the login link in the email body still points back to the end user license page, not the home page.

I know these were raised as bugs before - did they get picked up?

Steve

Who is tuned in?

I'm addressing the paypal - cart-empty issue.

It might not be a bug. The user might be landing on the page before paypal notifies of the sale... so I'm going to make some adjustments, one of which is to alert the user they may have to refresh the page.

Not so much a bug as a request. Once we have a lot of images uploaded, searching for one particular image in the admin site becomes very difficult. There is an image search in the All Images page in Admin, but searching simply brings up the images in the live site. I wanted to see them in the edit page so that I could make a change to one of the images.

I'll keep that in mind. At high image amounts some convenience is needed...

Here is the solution to the paypal issue...it pretty much helps the customer in case there is a paypal delay. I'm showing a screenshot so you know what to look for after you do a purchase (or test purchase)

Alrighty - I just tore through all the bugs mentioned except for a few. I'll get back to those. Will have a new download available later tonight most likely.

looks great leo..

does that always come up regardless the delay, or just in case of a delay?

It will always come up on returning from paypal. I don't think the customer will mind if it doesn't apply to them. Much better than leaving them in confusion.

it's looking cool anyway.. the only thing I don't like is that the email address is exposed.. it's better leaving it at "notify us" I believe.. I prefer not to publish the email.. there is the contact page if they need..

Actually I was hoping to make it hard-coded to "contact cidepix" with your personal email regardless of site  ;D

I'll change it back if anyone feels the same way.

lol ;D

not only for me, but a published email address is an invitation to spammers.. I have had a lot of spam before I switched to wordpress and have my proper contact form :)

Agree, it looks cool, and agree again, a link to contact page would be better.

Yeah I always consider that. A spammer would have to

A: Make an account on your site
B: Make a purchase.

So your email address is hidden below two levels of access. So what ends up happening is before your customer 'gets pissed' they immediately have someone to talk to without having to use their brain.

I dunno, I think it works. Anyone else?

A direct link to the contact page would be good, but its not fetch-able like like the EULA page is (it could differ among everyone what kind of contact page is being used, and where)

So we can either put "contact us" and leave it to customer to navigate to contact page or do the email.

totally understand your point leo..

but I believe the words "contact us" is sufficient even without a link.. customers can easily navigate to contact page..

plus, it's easier to use the contact page, than copy/paste the email imo..

Sounds good then, we'll have "contact us".

I think that's perfect..

I never expected it to be like EULA since it may be located on different url's for everyone..

What happens is the EULA page, Customer Page, etc, are generated on install if they do not already exist (ie, already installed). An entry is added to the database saying which post id is the EULA page, and so forth.

Contact page is like any other page created by the user. The Symbiostock theme has no idea what the purpose of the page is that the user creates, hence there's no way to fetch the contact page. Unless of course I made it generate at install, but that's excessive.

that's not necessary Leo.. not worth spending your time on it..

it is great without any links..

When you're in the image page there is an EDIT link on the right side under the licensing area that will take you right to that image's edit page.  It's a few extra clicks to search (from either the front page or the admin area) then find the pic, go to the image page then edit, but it's easier than scrolling though all the pages.

Also, if your individual  picture rows are spaced far apart in the admin area go to the top Screen Options tab and turn off all the pricing by unchecking them or any other fields you don't want.  That will make the columns for keywords, description, etc. wider and your rows will be closer together making it easier to scroll through pages.

Looks good Leo.

Just a Q related to this - After paying with Paypal, what return URL should we be putting in the PAypal settings?

Leo Blanchette

You don't have to do anything. The return URL is sent when you checkout, and paypal send you back based on that.

Yes, "contact us" without link is much better than e-mail. Hopefully, it'll work without flaws and no buyer will ever need to contact anyone to resolve cart issues, anyway.  :)
