Thanks Leo, a fair amount of artists are using  moneybookers so potentially more people can join SYMB

Thanks for the help on that! BTW have you discovered the license pop-up yet? :D

Leo, in the above images look on the image page where you choose image size and license. The blue shaded area right under the download button. It is a link to the end user license agreement. Should there be a link to the Extended License there as well? In my case they are the same since I describe the SL and EL in the same agreement.

I think I found your pop-up by clicking on the page icon next to SL or EL License options on the image page.

Thats your choice really. In a license you have the ability to create a little extra text (which will show in pop-up window) if you wish to explain that the same license is on the same page.

Moving one-step ahead. You might ask "Can I change the license?" and the answer is you have to make a new one and re-assign it.

Licenses are literally embedded into the product's info. That way if you ever deleted a license, you wouldn't have your best things being sold at default licensing (its a protection) so your images don't get orphaned from their licenses.

Leo, maybe I am missing it but is there a way to batch assign just licenses. I have some images at different prices and it looks like choosing a batch of images will change prices as well assign the licenses.

Thanks
Tim

I have not yet set it up to batch-assign single values. Does anyone else want this?

for me its a matter of making a corresponding "assign" checkbox beside each value. Only the checked values get assigned. And perhaps a little "check all" option.

I'll put that on to-do.

BTW this is NOT a beta test! This is going to be how it is - features added by request. (For those who are confused)

Get it here:

http://www.symbiostock.com/products-page/upgrades-and-plugins/premium-upgrade/

Included with this download is the latest Symbiostock version. Be sure to download and reinstall it (v2.6.0).

I just updated to sys theme 2.6.1 through my word press theme, but here Leo mentioned be sure to download and reinstall, do I need to download and reinstall again?

So licenses can be assigned at the same time images are edited?  Yes please

This also means if we offer a custom/rm type licence for all new/unsold images we can then remove that licence if it sells as standard

Here's a little snippet from the collections pop-up. I have a feeling its sitting out of view. Let me know if the directions posted in the "Collections" tab are lacking clarity.  I can change it if needed. This is what the result should look like (if you desire to dress it up a little)

About Collections  Collections are ways to sell entire "sets" of images under one main "preview" image. While a collection is technically a type of category, you make it "sellable" by attaching it to a main preview image.

  • Create a collection using options in the "Collection" (this) panel.
  • Assign images to the collection by searching, selecting, and choosing "Add Selected Images", and pushing "save", similar to the "Categories" panel.
  • In the batch editor search results, find an image you wish to use as the "Main" image representing the collection. Click "Edit".
  • Be sure to modify the price to that which you feel properly reflects the combined worth of all the images, with obvious bulk discounts or special license considerations.
  • In that Edit Image panel you will find a dropdown to assign the collection. Choose the desired set of images that will be available with this purchase.
  • You can unassign an image from hosting a collection by visiting your collection panel, and clicking the X corresponding to the collection preview image in the list.
  • TIP: For the "main image" you should make a collage, software box, or similar type preview to visually imply a "set" of images. You can create and upload one of these with the intention of turning it into a "collection" preview.
It seems like a lot, but you will get used to it fast. Its the simplest way to implement a valuable system like this without over-complicating things.

I just do not want to purchase buggy software. I dont want to be a beta tester. Is that wrong of me?

No, providing you quietly wait until those of us who have no problems with beta testing have reported all the bugs we can find in the knowledge that they will get fixed.  That way these bug reporting theads can contain only reports and queries instead of grumbles which will help Leo find the real problems more quickly  ;)

I checked out your prob! It appears you've used a 'o' instead of an '0'. Very small difference. I never liked the way "O" has tried to play the part of "0"...very deceiving! But yes, thats throwing the math off. I need to just throw in an is_numeric() check.

Are you sure?

I know I mistakenly put a o instead of 0 in the fair trade licence but I created that in while I was using Skype to show someone how to do it and realised the error.

The actual prices are zero's otherwise you would not get, for example this when selecting an extended licence:
1120.00+400.00
1,520.00

Licences

The links to the licences are not very obvious, if possible could we possibly have a different layout, maybe as below.
If someone wants to have a lot of versions of a custom licence such as:
Exclusive use 6 months Europe
Exclusive use 1 year
Exclusive use 6 months World

or whatever permutations we come up with over time they will be easy to choose as the selection box will be on the same line and the little licence icon will be more obvious I think - especially if more than one box could be selected so licences could be more like

Exclusive use 6 months
Exclusive use 1 year
Exclusive use World
Exclusive use Europe
Exclusive use Americas
Exclusive use Australasia
Half Page
Full Page
Web
or whatever

I do not know if anyone would have the patience to fill all these out or use them but it will make it more open to multiple uses

Edit:  PS - if no one seconds any of this request then forget I asked

PayPal is by far the biggest PSP, exclude PayPal and you deprive yourself from millions of buyers. I know pride is important, but when running a business, you need to be rational, not emotional. Just because one PP employee was a rude a-hole shouldnt let you ignore PayPal. PayPal has 132 million users, you want to dip into that market for sure. I am saying this with the best intentions, because I know how you feel.

I managed to create collection for sell follow your step, but batch edit can only found published image, I do not want to publish the collection main image before setup the collection price etc. I think the batch edit search tool should also include draft images in result so that we can make batch edit for new image before publish.

Thanks Ron, however, the situation was more complicated and I do not think that business justifies everything....BTW: I do know lots of people who prefer not to use them, either because it is not available to them or they had similar experiences. Just see some requests here in this thread.

Sure, I understand. But you will always have bad experiences, especially when a company is so big. People tend to express complaints faster and more often then appraisal. I am seriously satisfied with PayPal, and I know tons of other people who are as well. But in the end it all comes down to your own experiences. Skrill (MB) is a good alternative, I just think you would miss out on sales. And then again, having more payment options is never a bad thing, so I agree with that.

I have set up extended licenses but applying that to all existing images is just taking ages..

is there no way to apply it to 100 images at a time for example?

How are you doing it - on testing site I used Symbiostock/batch editor - did a keyword search for a set of images , selected all those images (one page at a time or you lose selections) then used Settings & Prices to add the licences.

Not yet added it to my main site as I want to get it sorted in my head exactly how I am going to do it and get all my new licences fully edited.

After seeing your post I tried going to All Images and selecting a page of 100, selecting all images, adding a keyword that I would not normally ever use and adding it to everything on that page thinking as we can now remove keywords it would not matter.

Unfortunately I seem to have broken the batch search engine as when I try and search for that keyword (or any other come to that) I now get the following.  It was working earlier

Warning: simplexml_load_file(http://tulip.kerioak.com/?s=bahhumbug&post_type=image&symbiostock_network_search=true&ipp=) [function.simplexml-load-file]: failed to open stream: HTTP request failed! there really is not an easy way to apply the licenses to all existing images.. at least no quick way..

batch editor is useless as I can not split images in groups of 100.. I have a category with more than 800 images and the only easy way to select many images is "select all" but that is too many and "processing never completes"

If it was possible to split a category into pages, life could have been much easier..

one more thing that really bothers me:

what's that additional box doing there? it is not necessary as there is already a link to licenses above..

is it possible to turn it off?
