Symbiostock never received a unique abbreviation.

This is a necessity now, especially since I'm finally making the Twitter implementation. Symbiostock will be able to interface with most parts of twitter right through the admin. A big part of tracking Symbiostock on twitter (and other search engines) is a perfectly unique handle.

Two-letter abreviations are out for quite a few reasons. So we can't be part of the IS, SS, FT, DT club.

Something around 4 or 5, meaningful and unique. Uppercase/lowercase/combinations welcome. Numbers, letters, or both.

If this thread ends up being involved enough that enough suggestions are given, I will put up a POLL for everyone to vote on the final Symbiostock handle.

This is quite important as not only identity, but a technical integration on quite a few levels.

Example: At this very moment #GoogleNexus7 is trending on twitter. Inputing #GoogleNexus7 or clicking #GoogleNexus7 will bring you right to the conversations revolving around it. Its like a closed universe involving #GoogleNexus7.

#SYMBIOSTOCK might be fine...but its too long. We can settle for that if nobody comes up with something "cool"

Maybe long but ultimately its the brand name of the network

Symbiostock is also descriptive, shortened versions are fine for people who know what they are talking about and probably used only by submitters but customers (that I have spoken to ) use the full names of FT, DT etc and it is customers we want.  I did like you $$ shortened version suggestion though

I am fine with #symbiostock. But maybe abbreviate it as #symbio if you really want something shorter, especially when dealing with 140 character limits?

I second this one.

I have always liked SYS, I have been using that for a while, but on twitter #sys might not have much meaning, so #symbio makes more sense.

Both handles are far from unique though.

I would prefer SYS but symbio is also okay

SYS to me looks like an abbreviation for system. If its going to be three letters, why not SYM?

I get the feeling that #symbio might be mistaken for another product or brand already. Maybe I'm just paranoid.

#symbiostock should guarantee no confusion whatsoever though.

I agree. It looks like #symbio is already a used hashtag for other things. #symbiostock may be the only viable hashtag option.

If you want uniqueness then only #Symbiostock is the only option. All other abbreviations and acronyms , 2 or 3 letters are already in use. Symbio is also a normal existing word.

I agree, if you want brand recognition, especially at the start, it might be best to use the full name.

I've been using sym in posts, but  I discovered a symbio company when looking at domains, so #symbiostock seems like best solution
