I was thinking about doing that last night. I have a main site where I have all of the other things that I do on it then the SY in a sub domain of that site.
The way I have my main site set up makes it hard for me to do updates to it properly with having to edit a ton of pages just to add new links. I figured WP would make that a lot easier for me.
Are there any disadvantages or issues to having two instances running? I just want to make sure before I tackle it. This will also make my BlogSpot blog redundant but I'll deal with that at a later date.
Thanks.

no real downside other than remembering what's on each site -- you just need to install in a different folder, since each wp instance has its own database. several of us had 2 sym sites active during testing with no problems

Why not use Wordpress Multisite? It's probably a lot easier to have certain links and pages that apply to all sites and still be able to create individual content.

I've never heard of multisite before so I will research that.
Both my main site and my subdomain are in two separate folders. I might have to create a separate database for it. I can have up to 40 (not that I could ever use that many) databases of which I've used 2 but one is completely empty so I'll probably use that one.
I'll check the multisite out before I decide on anything permanent.
Thanks :)
