Title: Does Symbiostock track sales?
Post by: GeoPappas on July 16, 2013, 14:19
Does Symbiostock track sales?  For example, when a sale is made on an image is there a counter in the database that is increased for that image?

I searched the forums but didn't find anything.

It does not currently track sales in that way. Like so many things, its a small implementation once the time is found.

In the meantime, its a simple matter of personal record keeping.

It is also something that should be turned off straight out of the box.  I am guessing but I think most people would prefer not to have their sales tracked by the network.

By the network, certainly I wouldn't want that. But the OP said "in the database", so I'm assuming they mean within their own site dashboard. That would be helpful, to have something in the dashboard that tracks sales.

Instead of tracking it on the actual image page it could be implemented somewhere in the admin area or only shown on the image page if the person logged in has admin power and it would be hidden from the buyers.

Course also keeping a backup record on your own would be good as well just in case something goes wrong with the site and/or the database.

+1. Not network tracked, but certainly viewable and sortable etc in the admin section.

I'm hoping a fully fledged data & sales tracking/recording/management system is something that Leo is going to include in his Premium version coming soon.

+2  I would prefer to record them within my own site but not share with network

nothing about sales is tracked now, and the only way to do so would be to add it to a specific file, so any tracking Leo might add would only be seen by the site's admin

the symbio info files that are open to everyone are
mysite.com/symbiocard.csv
mysite.com/symbiostock_image_info.csv
mysite.com/symbiostock_keyword_info.csv
mysite.com/symbiostock_network.csv   (this info already in symbiocard)

and their xml versions

these files are needed by anyone doing global or other external searches, but can be ignored otherwise
