Title: Help building site
Post by: picture5469 on June 06, 2013, 05:46
Hi,

I've bought the hosting package and I'm just lost on how to set this website up.

Is there anyone here willing to help?
I'm happy to compensate you for your time. Get in touch either by pm or [email protected] if you are interested.

Thanks
Mark

Hi Mark

It is best if you learn how to do it yourself then if there are any changes you want to make you can sort them as time goes on.

To get started watch the tutorials in post 2 http://www.microstockgroup.com/symbiostock-development-area/symbiostock-testing-build-released (http://www.microstockgroup.com/symbiostock-development-area/symbiostock-testing-build-released)!/

Although these were for the original version most of them still apply and will be useful, f you get stuck with specific questions then just ask.

Agree with Tinny, its pretty straight forward and WP in combination met Symbiostock theme is really easy to figure out. Advantage is, when you do it yourself you will know all setting and your website inside out by the time you are done.  :)

In defence of the OP for many various and valid reason there are/will be some people who just don't want to build their own sites. There is nothing wrong with this. It could be time, or they just don't know, want to know, or don't like anything to do with computers... or if they are like some people I know, they should not be allowed anywhere near a computer...  :o

Since it is so straight forward I thought about that it would be a cool little sideline to get into.

Then I thought about how slow and unreliable my internet is and decided to give this one a pass.

right, while it is relatively straightforward, it still takes some time, the biggest part being uploading the images.  best bet would be to find a savvy friend who'd do the setup

Hi

Thanks for the replies and offers of help. I've managed to get to a point where I can upload images. I'm still lost on network connections and how to implement child theme but at leadt I'm further forward than I was yesterday. Although I can use a pc my pc skills are not that great.

If you go to the tab appearances, you can click on themes, and then click upload. Browse your PC for the child theme and then hit install. Once its installed, you click activate.

You can download the child theme here and save it on your PC

http://www.symbiostock.com/download/ (http://www.symbiostock.com/download/)

Hope this helps. Dont forget to keep asking questions  :)

No, you have not yet made (m)any changed to your site layout so adding the child theme now is a good idea

Thats my idea as well. Its an added layer under the parent theme. If I am correct. But you might need to re-enter some values, if thats what you mean.
