Title: How long does it take?
Post by: Miguel Calo on April 29, 2013, 07:08

Hi, all!

I am wondering how actually long takes to set your own symbiostoc site, for let's say 500 images?

Thanks.

Very difficult to reply to that, it will all depend on whether you already have a website, wordpress, images with descriptions etc and how much time you want to spend on SEO and changing titles so your pictures are different from the same ones listed elsewhere.

Presently ( It is still in Beta) it does not work straight out of the box.... you have to invest some time and effort.

Technically Wordpress and Symbiostock are a very easy install.  If you have a bit of website building knowledge, and have your domain ready, it should take 20 minutes to get the site up and running.

Adjusting the look, loading and processing the images might take 48 hours.

This would be the minimum.

If you don't have the knowledge and are starting from scratch.... unknown.

The original release did not work well with my old webhost. So when I decided to buy a new domain through Bluehost.com and set up there, I timed it. From initial purchase to functional SY site: 30 minutes. That does not count uploading images but it did include domain registry, webhosting set up (passwords and contact info, billing, etc), autoinstall wordpress, download SY theme and install. Customizing and adding images took a little longer.
