Did I miss this in the links and messages and networking?

Is someone keeping a list of Live Sites where people could go look at all the sites from one central location?

If not, want me to start one?  :)

Quite interesting list!
I have now more that 700 pictures online growing fastly (this can be updated on the list). A bulk editing would help to get the higher number even faster, but I also appreciate the one by one editing.
To me it is now soon time to test the network features.
I have included aleady for test
http://stereoshutter.com
and it seems it works fine
For more I'm not sure if I need to look at similar or complementary.
Also I'm not really sure about what is the right behaviour with network. Shall we includes the sites from those having our own. This may be impossible. How to know who is linking to ones own? Can we remove a link at any time, or shall a change be subject to an agreement? It is not clear to me what would be an acceptable behaviour here.
Thank you for letting know what you think!

Once I upgrade network functions the main site will keep a live updated list on all the sites (who wish to be included in the list)

those are questions we're trying to hash out -- it will take some experimenting to see what works best.  if reciprocal links are required we'll end up with a bunch of closed groups

yes I can see that, on the other hand, there is also a situation possible where nobody is linking to one of the SY site. What is the reason for limiting the number of links to 5?

I was thinking that a buyer would probably need a site with a minimum critical number of pictures. Even with 5 sites having each 5000 pictures this is "only" 25000 pictures. Probably not enough to cover all general themes needed by buyers unless having a kind of niche with a specific theme common to the 5 and make the sites known for covering the given theme.

A buyer needs the critical number of 1..... the image that suits their needs.

I doubt is I will have 5000 images for sale,  for a couple of years.  I have a small ( but growing) specific portfolio.  I don't want to be left out just because of my newbieism ( I don't think that is a word)  I don't expect to make the sales that a site with 20,000 images but I want in!!!

Glenn - I added you to my network.  I'll have about 300 images when I'm done uploading current images but my concentration in food offers a nice complimentary niche for those wanting to link to me, or looking to drive food image buyers to their site.  Your food images are a nice compliment to mine adding some nice culturally different options.  If you have open slots I'd be happy to have you link to my site - karensarragaphotography.com

the 5 site limit was set by Leo for the start because of concerns about processing time, so it may change

I agree with you about the need for a wider network, and I've suggested several possible solutions, while keeping to the 5 site limit for now.  as I also keep pointing out, we cant expect everypne we link to to link back to us, since that would create isolated groups of 6

one way to do this is by having a smarter choice of what sites to link to, and this will evolve too.

others may differ, but I expect most traffic to come from people with specific images 'XYZ" n mind, finding us thru google.  so while it might make sense as a site owner to link to people with different subjects, 'ABC', 'DEF, etc  that's not going to help the buyer who came to our site looking for 'XYZ'   to satisfy the buyer we should be linking to other sites with SIMILAR content to ours.  we need to concentrate on symbiosis -- not everything we do will have an immediate payback, but by directing buyers to other SY sites, we'll eventually prosper when we're the recipient

right now the other sites shown are based on what the siteowner decides to link, when what the buyer really needs is a network search more like the 'other similar images' search based on an analysis of other sites.  i'm exploring ways to do a more intelligent search without an exponential explosion of processing time

Agree. For us choosing the right partners to network with will remain difficult. And in any case, our individual idea of good network buddies might not match with what a particular buyer might want. So would it be possible that buyers themselves can influence the network search? Say with search options such "narrow down", "broader", "more of the same", whatever. These options could be each linked with a different (dynamic) set of network buddies.

Just brainstorming here...
