I've already got a site that I use for other things such as my writing and I just installed WP and the Symbiostock theme.  Since I have it installed within my site is that going to affect things like search within Google and getting the site indexed properly?

I've been looking around to see if anyone else has done it that way but haven't found one.  Would like to hear your thoughts and comments about doing it this way.

I do appreciate the work that went into this and it's a lot better than what I was thinking about doing on my own a few months ago.  Which goes to show what being offline for nearly four months can do.

Thanks

Anita

What's your directory structure? Can you explain or point some links otherwise...

Sure

http://www.mddu.com/wordpress/ is where I've got it at.  I haven't done much yet with it but plan to in the next few days.

I don't think I'll have a problem but just wanted to ask beforehand.

I suppose Google will be happy to see more content, and you will get true backlinks, altough I would change that /wordpress into something more descriptive and short.

Many people added Symbiostock to their existing sites, you just need to look around the network.

I have imagerion.com - added another wordpress on a subdomain http://stock.imagerion.com
I I just did not want the subdirectory, so prefer the subdomain.

Got it.  I forgot I could use subdomains oy!  I hope I don't have to start over again (not that I've gotten very far).  I'll just re-install to that domain if I could ever settle on the sub's name.

Thanks.

I have it in a subdirectory of course,  then I just pointed the subdomain to it, so depending on your host it may take you a minute, although it's possible you would have to change some paths in the WP or DB, you'll know if it won't start up ;)

Funny, I just did the exact same thing. I'll try a sub domain as well. Never thought of that. I created a sub-folder and I can't see it when I look for it live hence the reason I came looking. Thanks!

I just decided to err on the side of caution and reinstall into the subdomain.  This'll give me a better way to deal with it without * up my main site.  I'm deleting it off the main and it's installed now with the theme in the new one.  It'll reside here at images.mddu.com :)

This ought to be really interesting to try out :D

Thanks.  You guys will probably get annoyed at me after a bit ;)  I've already ran into my first issue but need to check it and see if I can fix it myself.

My issue corrected itself or I didn't do things in the right order but it's working just need to change some images and then I can get going on it.

Check out the help pages in the symbiostock .(bee) section, they might help you as well

When I was researching this same question ( folder vs sub domain) the info I found suggested  that 3 or 4 sub domains will help you with SEO... above that and it will hinder your SEO.

So with this in mind I have.
http://glennspecht.com/
http://stockimages.glennspecht.com/wp/
http://photo-tours.glennspecht.com/wp/
As 3 separate wordpress installs, with links going back and forth.

Is this the best way to do it.... I don't know.

I just have the one but once I move the site to a different host I might have to go with 2 or 3 just to separate things out for myself.
