I'm sure there's a simple solution to this, but I'm having trouble with my vertical thumbnails.  As you can see, they are much bigger than the horizontal ones.

I am not familiar with wordpress, but where you took from that weird portfolio link? It looks like not for symbiostock code, but wordpress somehow displays your images, and that's the result.
To display portfolio I created category named "All" (you may name it in menu "portfolio") and all other categories are its chidren. Then, when you add categories to images, they also go to all.
Have a look at my site:

My guess is that you have set a width size and somewhere need to find a height size when you are adding pictures to your portfolio.  Alternatively if you want to show all your images add an "All images" or something to your categories and see if you can add that to a separate link - I think it would be possible from within the menu area.

Just a thought - your watermark, do you want people to be able to find you from it if it is used elsewhere by adding your web address as well or just leave it with your name as there are a few Danny Hook's if you do web searches

I've kind of gone back and forth on the watermark thing.  I have, in the past, included my web address, but I don't want the watermark to distract from the image itself.  I see what you're saying, though.  Might need to work on that today.  Thanks.

I liked your text about Symbiostock. I'm thinking to create a menu item named "symbiostok" where i will put a text like yours. Really important in this moment reinforce ideia of what Symbiostock is.

If  you mean me (text about Symbiostock) thank you, I agree we need to push/mention/advertise the concept.  I "think" I have just finished the text side of my site for now, been working on it again this morning, and need to concentrate on getting enough images up.  If you or anyone else has any comments about my site, good or bad or how to improve or change please feel free to voice them :)

This you mean?

What is the Symbiostock Network?

Symbiostock is not a stock agency, we are a group of independent photographers, illustrators and artists  licensing royalty-free and rights managed images from our own sites and to make it easier for you, our customers to find the right image we are also linked to each other.  This means if you do a search  for example, tree you will get a page where firstly my tree images appear and then those of my network members.    If you use Categories to start your search you will only find  the images on my site.  The network members I am linked to may link back to me or may link to other members so you can click on one of their images and do another search to bring up different results.  Of course, my ambition is to have the pictures you desire here but if I do not I can offer an alternative where you can purchase direct from the artist.

Yes of course you can use it - if anyone can improve upon it (not difficult) then please post your version :)

We need to make it sound as if it is best to get it direct from the artist I think?

You may think this is nitpicking, but I modified the sentence structure a little bit and this is how I put it in my About page. I have a section on the home page that simply says that my site is a member of the Symbiostock network and links to the about page so that people see it up front but I don't clutter the landing page, and they get the details separately.

Feel free to use this approach or modify as you see fit to align with your own sites:

Home Page:  Backyard Stock Photos is a member of the Symbiostock Network. For more details please see About Backyard Stock Photos above

Nice! I would like to use that copy for my site, too. I wish I could get a sidebar to appear on the home page. I'm wondering if my slider to too large and is disturbing the sidebar div? I might make that slide a little smaller and see what happens.

Which template are you using for your home page? The 'Home Page' template doesn't have a sidebar, but 'Home Page - Sidebar' does. Alternatively 'Default Template' has a sidebar and also shows the page title.

With a sidebar I find 770px is the right width for a slideshow.

ETA: I've ripped off your design for the slideshow images... ;)

I am using the Default, but let me try Home Page-Sidebar. I saw that when I loaded the last version, but there's so many things to work on, I get easily distracted and go off on another tangent! Thanks for the tip on the size...my slider is 745, so it can't be too wide, then. I'll try changing the template first.

No problem on the ripping off. Also, another tip in another thread, right click disable plug-in, tho I know if someone wants it, they will find a way.  :(   no-right-click-images plugin is the name.

edit...I just checked. I KNOW I saw the template home with sidebar, but now it is not in my list. What happened to it? Think I will deactivate, upload the latest parent theme again, and activate. And pray.

edit again...operator error. I just chose the wrong parent to install. DOH!

Hey guys, today I'm actually finding it much easier to focus on things outside of Symbiostock projects. I'm really happy to see people helping eachother too.

Its really up to the little growing team of independents to decide which way things go - but since you guys are making helpful little write-ups and articles, I could set you up as authors on the main site. You can have an "author box" which credits your site for things like that that you write.

The site itself is still quite new and almost completely without a unique design, but social features are completely operable on it. You may enjoy it.

The more the community self-builds (which is the most intelligent approach) the more I can focus on development in the future. Over and out.

Yes you (anyone) may use it - maybe a link to my stock site as well - even if it is hidden in a full stop or something :)

- I have not checked for the legality of it but is one I use on our Janchristie.com site as well (anyone into nail art?)

I've been updating the faq at http://cascoly-images.com/pix/faq-frequently-asked-questions-about-symbiostock/   writing and editing from responses here - but if you write your FAQ as a post in wp, I can link to your site directly rather than re-writing -- just email me the link

I like the concept of Symbiostock, but not its abbreviation - SS.
Not only is this acronym synonymous with Shuttterstock, but also with SchutzStaffel, the elite military unit if Hitler's Nazi army.

I would imagine with all the creative potential on this site we should be able to come up with a different short form. Some acronyms might be SB, SBS, SYS, SYM. We could even vote on it.
