Just wondering - I was asked to shoot another event and I haven't done one since I was with Smugmug - can a Symbiostock website handle massive uploads from an event? Was thinking to have the parents download a file rather than order prints. A soccer tournament may be 10K photos, a dance recital 1500. I would break them into separate galleries per game or routine etc.

I am at least 4 months behind the rest of you at this - can a customer buy more than one photo at a time now - or is each download a separate transaction?

Can you offer coupons/discounts that will expire to encourage downloading before they forget about it. (Ugh.... don't love events but could use the cash!)

Think this sounds possible? Boy it would be nice not to have to deal with a third party, wait for payment, pay commissions....

A customer could always buy more than one photo on a SY site. Each download isnt a separate transaction unless the buyer is buying from different SY sites. In other words, each SY site is just like any other photographers site. Find images, add to cart, pay for cart. The SY sites are only linked for seo and global search benefits.

There isnt a way built in to offer coupons or discounts, but i think it is one of the things planned for the premium upgrade coming soon.

As far as a lot of images...one SY contributor has tens of thousands of images on his site, so i think SY has the capability of handling the images. You will want to research hosting companies tho and be certain they can handle it all.

You do have the ability to change the prices individually when you edit your page. Course I'm not sure if there's a way to hide your event categories from other people aside from your client.

For events I use zenfolio.com. Unlimited disk Space + selling prints and files +passwords when relevant makes it quite well adapted to my needs.

I think that galleries can be passworded (emphasis on "think"), so I could give all the galleries from that event the same password, but keep the photos from extending to the rest of the world.

Would have to have an entirely different license also.

Thanks jeancliclac, I am in Canada and am done using American service providers for this type of thing though. They freak out when they pay in U.S. dollars and when they get extra bills for customs. I freak out when they withhold U.S. taxes.
