Should Symbiostock have a UNIQUE license?

Yes - that would give Symbiostock a big advantage.
No - Too confusing. Adopt an existing one.

The RM option is there !!

Is it there with the base Symbiostock setup  or do you have to get the upgrade package Ron?

Wow, someone resurrected this thread.

Just an update - I'm revamping the licensing system quite a bit. Licenses are now their own custom post type, with interesting features based on what you assign for license properties.

I would definitely like a nice sound set of license options install-able with Symbiostock, so users don't have to keep reinventing the wheel.

Now that the test site is running, I have the same question. Can I have my site just one license (since it seems that's the limit without the pro package) BUT that one license is RM?

And with new understanding, I agreed that SYS should have it's own license, Free Trade, Free Commerce, something else - maybe without the word FREE in it? I've tried to make mine One DL, One Use, but don't know what to call it. The idea being, with most RF licenses, someone DLs a file, hands it around to up to ten people, seems to be able to use it for a limited period of time, which turns out to be eternity.

I'd rather have it simple, like a modified RM. I don't ask the use, or price according to the use (unless it's something beyond the base license, like products, or over #### copies) but the flat rate price is calculated by the file size, pretty much like RF?

Is that what the Symbiostock license would be? I'm all for it and no unlimited, uncontrolled RF.

But the same question as Noodle. Can I set up a RM Editorial site, and everything on the SYS site will be that license? Is that withing the basic software package, or is the only way to do it, to buy the Pro Upgrade?

Whatever is instituted needs to be customizable by site owners. In other words, nothing should be forced on us.

You can write your own license and it can say whatever you want. If it's RM the issue would be pricing.

As long as you don't need to have multiple prices for a given size, you can use the basic package and you'll be fine. You can call it "Uncle Pete's yummy rummy license" or anything else that comes to mind and the link under the prices (the lock icon and "End User License Agreement") will point to your text. If that's one use one license, you'll be all set (beyond the enforcement issues, but Symbiostock can't help with that).

I have setup the same type of license and am calling it a "Single Use" license.  I know that a few other Symbiostockers are doing the same sort of license.

I never liked the fact that an RF license gives someone unlimited use of an image for as many projects as they like.  It just doesn't seem fair that a company can buy your image and use if for an ad campaign (which they make money from) and then use it again and again on additional ad campaigns (which they again make money from).  If they are making lots of money off of our images, then I only think it is fair that they can spend a few dollars each time that they want to use it.
