I have my own Domain and Hosting and want to know if I can put Symbiostock on the hosting plan and domain I already have or do I have to create a new website and domain through symbiostock.com and have it hosted with them instead?

If I can put it on my web hosting and existing domain how do I do that? When I go to symbiostock.com it wants you to find a domain and create a site.

Thanks

No need to get a new host or domain - it's just trying to be "helpful" for those who are starting from scratch.

I had hosting before starting symbiostock and had installed another copy of WordPress (I had one already in a subdomain for my husband's blog) into a subdomain. Because I wanted my stock site's url to be top level - not stock.mydomain.com in other words - I bought another domain name and mapped it.

If that makes any sense :)

For Bluehost, you can use their tools to make a sub domain and install wordpress which makes it very easy. One thing not to do is use the WordPress feature to specify a subdirectory for the WordPress install - it messes up all sorts of Symbiostock URLs  and doesn't work.

and there are other options:

another way is to set up a sub-directory and install there -- eg, my site is installed at http://cascoly-images.com/pix

or if you already have a domain, you get another domain on the same host and redirect that to a subdirectory

my co-op site lives in the /co-op subdirectory, but can be accessed directly thru
http://symbiostock-network.com

Well I have a Domain set up specifically for this with its own hosting so I don't need a subdirectory correct? It would all go into the main directory? I am using Godaddy.com

Where do you go on symbiostock to get what you need to set it up on your own hosting? Do you sign up as a member first and then its made available to you? I just did not see that option checking out the site!

right - if the domain will only be used for your site, no subdir or subdomain needed

symbiostock doesn't provide hosting -- there are some recommended hosting services, based on places where symbiostock has been installed

http://www.symbiostock.com/#landing_main  has the link to github where you can download the latest version -- you install it as a WP theme
