This must be something simple that I'm overlooking.  I would like to put a "latest Images" widget above the homepage content, but it does not show up.  I've tried various other widgets and none of those show up when placed on any of the home page widget areas, though I can get them to show up on general footer and sidebar.  I also noticed that there is no actual "home page" in the pages list. I don't know if that is related or relevant.    Does anyone have any idea how to get my widgets to work?

Many thanks,

CeL

Check and see if you have the plugin Related Posts by Taxonomy activated. It has to be in order for those to work. Also you have to use certain templates to get them to show up. I know home page cta works, thats what i use. You might have to try them to see what works best.

Feel free to bring this to http://www.symbiostock.org and I'll check today and see what adjustments have to be made or if there is a bug.

MSG users don't like seeing too much Symbiostock.

That is entirely wrong.  MSG users DO like to see Symbiostock threads...  We are all in this together.  If they didn't there wouldn't have been so much discussion about it on here before the dedicated forum was set up.  In fact, they were so interested it filled up the front page, which is why I separated the two topics for a while - the symbiostock topic was/is indeed very popular.

I'm very supportive of the Symbiostock forum and think it is great to have a dedicated forum for Symbiostock, but for those who would like to discuss things here it would be nice to not have the thread always redirected elsewhere.

There has been some backlash at the Symbiostock threads. The comments about it being too much got 20-30 votes up and everyone was very clear about the threads being annoying. I have to agree with Leo here, the message that came from the Fotolia thread was pretty clear.

I agree. When it filled up the first page  I missed more of the other discussion but that isn't to say there wasn't interest in it.

I think if Stocksy threads filled up 80% of the front page people would get annoyed too but that doesn't mean they don't want to hear about Stocksy.

Maybe I'm being too sensitive ;)

I would love to see a symbiotic relationship of all the threads on MSG :)

Anyhoo, things have quiet down now. I hope we can get self-hosted registered on the poll so that people here see the potential and join up.

I thought the same as you. When there were a billion threads, it seems as if it was annoying to some people. But I thought everyone was happy when you separated the boards.

I come here to keep up with ALL things microstock, as I still have images at a couple of agencies, too. I don't see any reason why people shouldn't be able to ask questions here and get them answered here.

Thanks, this worked mostly.  I can now see the widgets on the new page I created with the home page cta template.  How do I set this new page as my home page that loads by default when someone comes to the site?

I'm having a small crisis as to whether I should finish this topic here or move it to the symbiostock forum.  Apologies if I should have moved it...
