Just had my first sale! Might be the best $7 sale I've ever had. ;D
One question... The transaction came through with the image number, how can I easily figure out which image sold?
-
Ok, so I ended up just going and downloading the same numbered file via FTP to figure out which image sold.
Might there be an easier way to find out in the future?

Congratulations! Here's to getting many more!

Thought I'd add that the first image sold was very appropriate....

That's really funny. Good job

Congrats! Awesome job!

The mission has just begun!!! Very exciting to see the first sale going though!
-
Congratulations!
-
And many more for everyone!
-
Awesome! What an appropriate image sale :D
-
Wonderful! Congrats!
-
congrats on the sale! -- just don't believe your own images - the symbio mission is about as far from accomplished as the aircraft carrier passenger who made the phrase infamous!
-
congrats, that must feel good.

Congrats!

Brilliant, well done :-)

Congrats!

Great, congratulations!
Who´s next?!? :-)
-
Congratz Daveh900.
I've been trying to follow everything to do with Symbiostock. And its great to hear when artists are starting to makes sales.
I hope you have many more Dave :)
-
Congratulations and I hope it is the first of many - for all of us :)
-
Congrats!
I have the same question about knowing which files sold as you. I was thinking it showed up in the email, but that might have been on the buyers side (when i did a test). And if it did, you wouldnt be asking, so...no help here. Sorry.
-
I'm very happy for you. SY takes off!!!
-
HUGE congrats on the first (or any!) sale.
Can I ask - do you know how the buyer got to your site? Google?
-
Can I ask - do you know how the buyer got to your site? Google?
I'm not sure. However, Google traffic is increasing every day.
-
Just had sale #2!
Almost time to quit the day job. ;)

Wow! Now you do realize having your mother buy one to stick on the fridge does not count right?
J/K. Good job.
If your feeling generous can you let us know how the image is performing in search? Or how your site in general has done? Also your images are very iconic/useful so I don't think the theme is 100% of the success either.

The image sold earlier today is actually one of my best selling sets of "stamps" on other sites. It has been indexed by Google for a couple years. For my SY site, I reconfigured the layout and colors enough that Google sees it as a different image. It currently sits right beside the previous version at Shutterstock when doing a Google image search.
Overall traffic from Google is getting better all the time. Seems most of my images are now indexed.
-
That is great news to hear!
I wish you daveh900 (and everyone else of course) much more of sales like this!
-
Wow, encouraging.
Let more financial blessings come!
-
Another one for the encouragement department - just had our first sale.
http://www.picturemojo.co.nz/image/auckland-skyline-new-zealand-twilight-dramatic-sky/ (http://www.picturemojo.co.nz/image/auckland-skyline-new-zealand-twilight-dramatic-sky/) went for a whole US$2.50!
Probably a Google image search, and the results there are very encouraging, ranking is a lot better than it was with our Photoshelter site.
Looks like Leo hit on the right approach with the network backlinks - great work!
-
Finally, a spammy backlink directory web-ring reciprocal connection approach that is white-hat and welcome! :D
-
congrats:)
-
This morning I woke up to this sale being in my in-box:
http://www.clipartillustrations.com/image/factory-farm-cow-rbgh-fueled-2/ (http://www.clipartillustrations.com/image/factory-farm-cow-rbgh-fueled-2/)
Large - $20.
My first thought was "This one??" I never sell this one.
-
Had two sales (3 files) today within 3 minutes of each other. I have the Paypal app on my phone with instant notifications, it's nice to see the cash roll in! ;D
It's been a great month, I have surpassed by best month ever at Dreamstime with my SY revenue.

Well done guys, still waiting for my first sale.
-
Good stuff Leo, Dave and Travelling Light. That does give a man hope.

I won't post any more sales after this (unless maybe I get a big one) but here's another (odd) sale - http://www.clipartillustrations.com/image/orange-http-www-globe/ (http://www.clipartillustrations.com/image/orange-http-www-globe/)

Hi guys, I thought I would jump in and say a big thank you to Leo for getting this off the ground!
For those of you that don't know I did some beta testing for Leo on a super early version of what has turned into Symbiostock, my first sale was way back in March 2012. My site atstockillustartion.com is still running on that much cruder version of the software, last month it still made me more than Bigstockphoto, Yaymicro, Graphiclefovers, Vectorstock or any of the other small sites. That was with no promotion at all and without the new networking features, just uploading like on any of the agency sites.
I have just hired Leo to get me up to date with latest version and can't wait to see the results!
Christos
-
Thanks for sharing Christos! Great to hear how well it's working for you.
Some good news of my own - had my first sale on my site yesterday, $11 medium image. Woo!!
-
thanks for sharing seeing the good news is giving me hope :)
-
I am so glad to hear people are starting to get sales. I hope people will continue to report them here...gives a good indication of the progress.

How many uploads do you have until you got your first sale?
I have over 420 files, and still no sale.
It must be the quality of my uploads.

A few years ago, the magic number was around 300 files before you got your first sale (excluding SS). In the meantime, the number of available images on the major sites expanded at least 3 times, so on average, it might take now 1,000 files to get the first sale.
-
Geeze we are barely out of Beta.
It's going to take patience. This is still in its infancy. You need to be in this for the long haul. That's why I took the 3 year hosting option.
And by the way I have 2400 photos uploaded and no sales but I'm not worried, it will happen.
-
It took exactly one thousand uploads, still on that figure as my latest blog describes.
My first sale is of one of my dog pictures, I do not think anyone would ever realise they are one of my favourite subjects by looking at my portfolio.

You sold a dog pic?
-
Yes :)
A picture of a dog on a beach in Spain gone to the US.
From what I can see the client arrived via Google Images and took around two hours from first visit to coming back and completing sale. Does not appear to have visited other sites in network, just a few other images of the same dog. Hopefully will get too busy to look at this sort of information soon but it is interesting to see for first Symbiostock sale.
Edit: Now I am at computer will add a link to show which picture (and I think this one is before I started concentrating on SEO)

According to Google Image Search, this image is exclusive to your SY site. This is something that I think is very important to having success with SY (or any other self-hosted site).
-

I was lucky to have my first sale at around 520 files uploaded :)
-
I'm not doing this to show off - I think its useful for people to know.
In the last week i've gotten about $60 is sales on the site (which is lower that the past) but my website also established.
If you keep following the regimen of SEO you've been working on the only last determinant will be what the customer is looking for, which is fair enough.
Also I know hosting is a pain - keep tolerating it and working within your constraints until you feel you can scale into something more powerful - usually that can be done right within the company you use. Its important to keep growth going - even worst case scenerio - if you can't or don't want to use the shopping cart - you can still put a note to be contacted, which will further emphasize the value of your work. Right now SY's main strength for you is exposure. You can turn on the big guns when the circumstances are right.
Also with the huge changes Microstock is going through, it might be best for you and others to at least have a fallback like your own selling website - which if you look at SY's first opening posts, thats what it was supposed to be. If someone big crashes or dissolves, that market goes somewhere.
-
I just wanted to report my first sale today, a large size image. I had just decided to be lazy tonight and not do anymore uploading. Walked over to my ipad, saw there were 4 emails, and there it was. Now I am motivated! I know it's only one sale, but it sure feels good making 100% and dollars instead of pennies. :D

Which image? exclusive to your SY site? Available everywhere else?
-
Awesome! What images?
-
Image is not exclusive to my SY site, available at three other agencies.
-
That makes it even better, now we want this thread to be so full of first sales that it becomes the longest thread here
-
Awesome Cathy, great news! 8)

It is probably more useful to look at the # of organic searches landing on your images rather than the total number of images online. That will tell you more about your visibility, and whether or not your SEO needs tweaking.

Congrats! cclapper :D
Thanks for the congrats, all. I am noticing an increase in google alerts and registrations on my SY site that look like they could be future buyers and a general overall sign of things moving in the right direction. Far from the goal, but getting there.
And I just received an email from SS saying I got a raise. I passed one of their milestones and now I get a couple more cents per image. :) for the raise, :( that it's pennies and not dollars.
-
Double congrats!

Another 1st sale to report.

No idea how to figure that out yet!? :-\

Are you using Google Analytics? Check your traffic, then look at the Landing Page. If the Landing Page = your sold image, then you can figure out the source easily.
You can put Goals into Google Analytics. I haven't done it with my Symbiostock site yet, but with Warmpicture I had goals for the Add to Cart page and for the Download page (which meant the sale was completed).

A little bit code challenged here I have the tracking code but really don't understand where to put it or how.
Any help appreciated.

Get Yoast's Google Analytics for Wordpress plugin, and follow the steps. It'll do it all for you :)

I have never really understand the Goals side of things - if I were to set one up for the two pages you mentioned, what extra information would I gain from it?

I was chatting today to a real buyer who said they had tried several times to create an account on my site and the Sabre anti-spam registration through them out every time! I checked myself and it did! So I've been operating a pretty useless stock agency for quite a while...
Just a reminder to all of us to check the functionality as a new user from time to time. This guy told me that he had meant to tell me that there was an issue, but never got round to it.

Oh no. When you get that sorted out, I'll bet you get some sales pronto. I am going to do a test buy tonight...haven't done one in a while, just to make sure all is ok on my site.

Anyone know what's happening, customers can't buy anything?

I have the same issue. Just reported it on the bug thread. I had a sale on june 21 so something has changed since then.

Just had our 3rd sale - $5.75
The buyer didn't get his password, but fortunately emailed us, so we were able to sort it out.

May I ask how you handled it? Did you manually create a password for them? If yes, how did you do that? I am going to put a note on my home page, asking for anyone having trouble to please email me, but I'd like to be prepared with a plan on how to handle it. I think I can go into my db and create a user and get an encrypted pw, but if there is an easier way, I'd prefer doing that.

Hey there!
What I'm going to do is give people the early part of the cart manager plugin for stuff like that.
I'll have it ready in an hour or so.

I'd already had the email to say a user had registered (and seen it looked like a real user!) so I went into Users and opened that user for editing. There's an entry for changing the password there, so I created a new password - I actually used Password Safe to generate a reasonably secure one - and entered that twice, saving changes. Then I emailed it to the customer, telling him to ignore the emailed password.
As it happens, the first email arrived eventually. Once the customer had bought the file, he didn't get the email, and neither did we, so I made the downsized copy locally and emailed it him.

That's pretty tough. Almost everything that could go wrong went wrong there - but you still managed to close the deal, that's the happy ending.
I hope you can iron out the bumps so it will be smoother once the customers run your doors in! ;)

-
I get many daily registers but I am 99% sure they're all spam. Im not worried about it, sooner or later the right buyers will find my site. :)
-
Its time to bump this thread with my first SYS sale. Full size image 17.50 euro. And that makes SYS now by 4th best earner, since DP PD CanStockPhoto and GL dont make me more then a tenner per month. ;D
If I have 1 sale per month like this, SYS is already outperforming 4 or 5 agencies just because of the 100% royalty structure. LOL
It was also a sale of an image added only a few days ago, and the image has been on other agencies for months. Goes to show the strength of SYS.
-
Congrats, Ron ! :) :) :)
Something is happening. This is the second sales report today I read in the SY forums. Hope they keep coming :D
-
Yeah, I saw that too, plus Leo reported a few sales. Its coming ! :D
-
Congrats Ron! :D
-
That's great Ron. Delighted for you.
-
Well done Ron! We have had a couple of small sales this month, very happy with the way things are going!
-
Got my fist sale yesterday from my microstock collection, but still $10 :)
-
Thanks guys, I think the project is starting to work. We are at 60k images at the moment, I am sure we are going to 100k that means we will be bigger then People Images, if we keep going maybe get to 200k images we could be bigger as Stocksy ;)
-

I'm at 1000 images now and only 4000 more to add! We will get there! I'm also experimenting with putting my latest "editorial" type shots exclusively on my Symbio site. These relatively specialized images won't sell well on the main micros, but should appear right at the top of any Google searches. It will be interesting to see how that goes.
Steve
-
I have moved most of my editorial shots to ALamy RM, but I think they will do nothing there. So I think from now on, all content goes to my site, it seems that the SEO is really good on unique images.
-
Yes - that was my original plan - to only put them on Alamy as RM, but as the sales there are so intermittent I decided to give them 6 months as exclusive on my own site instead. Not sure if it is entirely logical, but I put the price higher for an exclusive image on my site - thoughts about that?
Steve
-
<snip> exclusive on my own site instead. Not sure if it is entirely logical, but I put the price higher for an exclusive image on my site - thoughts about that?
On my people site I have been doing that, exclusive studio shots with high production value are higher priced. On my pin-up I am going for $39... My thinking is it may be too high, but it is easier to drop prices that it is to raise prices. My other images are the regular SYS prices.
Still no sales though.... :(

Well Exclusive content could be priced higher, but its hard to say what the buyer will do. If they for example see a similar image in the network for cheaper they might pick that one. On the other hand, I think when buyers want that particular image, they will pay. But a higher pricing on exclusive content is acceptable. Its a unique image, so it could cost more.
Also, 6 months exclusivity should give the image enough time to settle nicely in Google Images.

Hey Sean, I meant in the network, not me alone. That would be something else ;-)

Thanks guys, I think the project is starting to work. We are at 60k images at the moment, I am sure we are going to 100k that means we will be bigger then People Images, if we keep going maybe get to 200k images we could be bigger as Stocksy ;)
I see about 200 on your category page, so maybe something isn't working?
60k are in here, total images across all sites...

Ah, sorry. I took "we" as "me", not "we" as "us"...

Good ideas for editorial pictures on SY, editorial are a pain to push on some agencies and Shutterstock reject some because of the captioning...

I think so. As an easy example, I uploaded some images of the ornate altar in a church in Germany (marked exclusive as I am only planning to upload it on my own site) three days ago. I checked just now on Google. Someone needing that specific image will be very specific in their search and so "Gerlachsheim church" has me at position 2 in Google web search. (Bit too early for image search indexing)
No sign of any other stock images from other agencies even though there is a similar photo in Getty's creative collection, and four external shots of the church in Alamy.
All I can say is that Leo did a fantastic job on SEO!

All I can say is that Leo did a fantastic job on SEO!
Yes, it is quite amazing. Much better even at this early stage than Photoshelter, Zenfolio and other more or less pricey subscription online stores.
-
I'm amazed at where some of my images show up in searches. I love looking at the Jetpack stats to see the search terms that led someone to the site. Over the weekend someone searched "Chocolate+Pudding+Toppings" so I tried the same search. I had two Symbiostock images show up - one in the #1 position and another in the #5 position. A third image from the series was in the #7 position and that was from 123RF. No sales yet for me but I'm starting to see registrations that don't appear to be spam registrations so I'm getting very hopeful that my first sale will come soon.

I love looking at the Jetpack stats to see the search terms that led someone to the site.
Where can you see the search terms that someone uses?
I have JetPack installed and have tried to look at every page, but don't see that sort of fine-detailed info. I just see summary info.

Nice image - could be an under water M as well as a electric charged one - may it be the first of many

Thanks, but that just brings me to the main JetPack page which shows summary info.
I assume that you are talking about the section titled "Search Engine Terms" (on the bottom left).
I guess that my site is too new to show any of that info at this point. Hopefully, I'll start seeing that info soon.

Thats the only stats page I know of. If that doesnt show anything, then I dont know what is happening. THat page for me has all kinds of data, and graphs.

Are you seeing a page that looks like a calendar? If that's the page you get, click on the link at the top (under the date and time) that says Return To Stats. Below the bar graph you can see the source of incoming links, which search engines, other Symbiostock sites, or places where you've posted your site link. Below the links you will often see specific search terms (sometimes it just returns unknown data references). I can tell from the terms that some users are searching google for information and end up on my site but they probably are not image buyers, such as the one that searched "allergic reaction to shrimp cocktail sauce" and ended up on one of my shrimp cocktail images. But it's fun to search the same term and see your placement.
I seem to get a lot of searched for variations on "grungy cream background, a fairly generic search phrase, and when I search that I see one of my images from my Symbiostock site side by side with the same one on DP, and another of my images in the next row, so I have two from my site in the top 20.

First sale !!!!!!! :D

AWESOME!
This is becoming like a game!

I'm pleased that people are getting some sales but I can't get too excited until I see that people are making an actual profit. You get 100% but after paying for the hosting, do you have anything left? How many hours does it take to set up the site and maintain it?
I know its early days and we shouldn't expect too much but I'm still wondering if having my own site would be worth it? I'd be interested to know how many images people need to sell a month at microstock prices to break even.
-
Its not a hard formula - the success you have on your site will be fairly relative to the success you had seen in the agencies, give or take a bit.
$10 a month...if you can clear that technically your profiting. But naturally you want $500 or so a month at least.
A big thing with Symbio right now is that its very artist/contributor oriented. The next phase will be focusing on customer experience and making it fun for them. Thats the general direction anyway.
-
Another sale yesterday :D
5$ last month and already 10$ for august with 928 images published !

I know I am not there yet. My first sale was an important milestone for me, not more but nothing less. Very motivating. Now, break-even will be next. Others are reporting amounts of sales that indicate they must be already past that point. I will get there, too. I just keep uploading to my site.
Yes, it requires lots of time. But, hey, I am not participating in all the "complain & whine" threads here on MSG, so I have some time to spare for my own site ;)

do you guys get sales from buyers coming from Google search or these are your own customers referred by yourself ? I have my photoshelter basic account and many of my pages come in 1 or 2 pages for my keyword so i do get many viewers daily. But the sad thing is, just 20-30% turned into buyers or enquire me about images. So how is your symbiostock sites performing in general ?
-
CONGRATS! I can't wait for my first sale!
www.stocklabb.com (http://www.stocklabb.com)

Congrats! I'm very slowly making my niche shots exclusive to my website. I am hopeful that it pays off for me making them exclusive. I'm giving it a year to see if I can drive some of my customers to my Sym site. :)
-
Had one sale so far, weeks ago. 2260 images.
As far as I can see my entire site has been indexed on Google. My images show up in the image search.
Maybe I need some feedback of what I'm doing wrong :o

This buyer came from Google search (although it was a local small business).
You turn 20-30% of your google search traffic into sales/image inquiries? :o And you're sad about it? :o :o - I think that's awesome! Your images must be absolutely stunning.

not stunning but some of them belong to niche i guess. I should have written more correctly that those 20-30% of traffic includes those who buy or sign up for my newsletters or enquire me about some images (particularly my RM) or do any kind of interaction. So this 20-30% of my traffic is some kind of fruitful traffic. And yes i am definitely not sad but just little disappointed because my FAA website of same or even lesser size port does better than my photoshelter port even though i dont try to promote my FAA port that much comparing my PS images. Just wonder how are symbiotic sites doing in turning traffic to buyers as all(or probably most) sites are interconnected networks.
-
I had my Photoshelter site for 3 years and had 2 measly photo sales. VERY disappointing. I definitely had to bail out and try something different. Organic search traffic on my Symbiostock site is already by far outpacing what I had last seen for my Photoshelter site. If that continues to grow with uploading more photos, with the network becoming bigger and reaching a point of "critical mass", and with the continued joined effort of this great community, then the sky is the limit. The hard part is that it needs some (on-going) work and patience. ;)

thats great if your symbiotic site outperforming your 3 years PS site in gaining traffic. For me photoshelter has been performing best as far as SERP is concerned. Probably i should also come to join this network, just that i am not tech expert and afraid to tackle site related things and its hard to spend time with them. How ever i believe i should try. If not i can get my personal blog platform. Can anybody suggest if bluehost is still best or there is any other equally good option ? (just last probably off topic question)
-
Yeah...off topic...but what the heck:
The whole WP/self hosting thing was new to me. It has been an interesting, if not sometimes bumpy ride. With some dedication and the kind help of the community here I think everyone can setup and run a Symbiostock site. - It is rocket science at Leo's end, only :D
Bluehost works well for me. Yes, it is sometimes slow and yes, it has been down a little too often lately. Hope that's just temporary. But it's cheap and goes well with the Symbiostock theme. However, you'll find threads here where alternatives and even the technical details of migrating to a different host have been discussed...
-
thank you pilens for the helpful talk. Hope to join you guys soon and also wish to see a much lengthy this woo ya thread.

Just had another sale. Wonderful. Buyer managed to get the image, but she said it was constantly downloading as an HTML, how do I fix that again?
Anyhoo, she bought the large version, so thats 17.50 euro, about 23.50 dollar. Again outperforming at least 4 sites. If I can get 2 / 3 sales per month, I am a happy camper.

Sounds like it's a browser issue from reading that thread.

Since there are now two threads going on about the html/jpg issue, and this thread is about sales on SY, maybe you guys can check the other thread (Anita posted the link). That way answers can be found in the thread that is properly named for the problem. :)

Congrats, Ron. :D - How many people with regular sales on their SYS sites will be required to see "Self-Hosted" on the right rising to middle tier, I wonder...

I dont have Word Fence installed, I do have Jetpack, and it seems the search came from Google.

Great news! Congrats, Ron :)

Congratulations!
Hopefully I'll get my first sale soon.

You're an inspiration, Ron. Meanwhile... back to the Yoaster.

Well, I thought this day would never come - someone registered and then immediately bought one of my photos of St Thomas. Only a smallish one at $3, but hey - its a start.
I did email the person to ask if everything went smoothly, but no response. I'm guessing/hoping that it did.
I've been a bit slow on adding new images recently, but a $3 sale is just what I needed to restart the process.... Wait - that is paying me about 10c an hour...
Seriously, I'm in this for the long haul and so will carry on!
Steve

Congrats!

Thats a great image Steve , congrats and well deserved

Congrats! Nice work.

That has got some pretty images - congratulations on first sale

Congratulations, nice shot!

Ok, I woke up this morning to my first sale as well. I assume it came in from the global search because I created and uploaded it a week ago. I haven't done any site maps yet and as far as I know no one has linked to my site. Pretty amazing actually. Thank you Leo and everyone else. I am pretty sure this is a sale I wouldn't have gotten without the networking aspect of Symbio.

Good to hear more people getting their first sales. If this keeps up, I may be swayed to jump into the SY pool.

YAHOOOOOO.... FIRST SYMBIO SALE!!!! Came on the same day I hit SS .33¢ level!!!
Purchased medium size for $24.99.
Funniest thing was I tried to get this to upload with a model release on GI, photographers choice where I have a couple of free slots. Never got it uploaded because I could not get the model release linked!!! Finally pulled it and put it up on my Symbio site 7/29. Feels better than almost ANY (thousands of dollars sales excluded of course!!) stock sale I've ever made through an agency as I keep 100%!!! Thanks LEO!!!!

Congratulations! Just think, this could have sold on getty as a premium access license at $1.25 to you.
-
Yes, great price for a dramatic image!! It knocks my $3 for a 1000 px image way over the boundary...
Steve

LOL... too funny. At first reading I thought you were saying a bad move by not putting it on GI, of course until I got to the $1.25 part!!!

Steve
Thanks! It was for a 1000 px exclusive image. Years ago I would have never sold it for this "little" but in the current atmosphere of .18¢ sales to the artist this feels pretty darn good. I originally had everything set to 2x current prices, but decided to back it down to the current rates to see what happens.

You know what's funny is that I was being overly generous. I've had premium access licenses for far less than $1.25 :(
Great shot and congrats again!
-
Awesome! Congratulations! I'm happy for you.
-
I think the network is getting more sales because of a lot of related (networking) factors. Basically the Symbiostock model works....even if it takes a little work.
I used this as an example...hope you do not mind :D
Back to work for me! Thanks for posting this.
-
Thanks all for the compliments!
No problem Leo as it is all because of your foresightl!!!
With 1 sale it has beaten out all but 3 of my other agencies, and most handily, although to be fair, other than SS the others only have a token 100-300 images online so I could gauge their results.
SS is a different beast. I can go from 0 d/l's on a weekend to 30 d/l's during the week.
-
Woohoo!!! from this corner too, Don. Very happy for you... and very impressed with that shot!
As somebody who does not "shoot" humans, and so doesn't have to bother with model releases, I'm chuckling a bit to myself that your beautiful image even needed a MR to begin with.
Really???!!! How on earth would anybody identify the girl in that shot? Or even know it was a girl?
-
Thanks!
Knowing the agencies I figured I'd cover all the bases just in case!
-

If I had made that jump, I would know its me. If it was photoshopped or not, the agency doesnt know that. In this case, add a MR of your brother and you are sorted.

Totally Photoshopped, but I do have a MR for the girl, but w/o a witness. She would never mind and besides that she could never tell. The original was shot 8 years ago, looking up a small hill with a blue sky background and she was not in silhouette. The sunset was shot in February in the Florida Keys. The cliffs were simply hand painted in from my imagination. Could anyone ever recognize themselves in this? VERY doubtful, but still was not sure if GI would want a release so.... their loss.
-
I understand that but the agencies dont know so they will ask for a MR. Thats what I meant :)
-
If I had made that jump, I would know its me.
Well, if I made that jump, I could hurt myself.
Congratulations, Don! This is a great inspiration, I'm sure it will trigger addition of a few thousands of new images over the weekend.
-
I also have a vertical version on my site.
-
Congrats!
-
Great to see sales, congrats Don a nice concept image, hopefully more to follow.

Nice one Don - well done !

Completely out of the blue I get a sale today. I've had to neglect my Symbio site over the last few weeks - life getting in the way and all that.
But I've just sold an image that has done well elsewhere but only nets $0.25 each time. Today? I netted 100 times more. Blimmin' marvellous.
Woo and indeed hoo.

I'll repeat what someone else said...I wonder how long it will be before the Self Hosted section of the poll starts to rise up in the rankings.

Nice one Russell

Sick as in finally a fair price, or as in overpriced? When the buyer pays the price, isnt that a fair price to them? If it was overpriced they wouldnt buy it. Dont know. I hope I am not getting slack over my pricing. That would be the straw that broke the camels back.

Sick as in finally a fair price, or as in overpriced? When the buyer pays the price, isnt that a fair price to them? If it was overpriced they wouldnt buy it. Dont know. I hope I am not getting slack over my pricing. That would be the straw that broke the camels back.
sick as sweet! which agencies can pay you that? ;D
Yes, sick, sometimes slang isnt clear. LOL. Thanks.

it also shows how far buyers/clients are willing to pay for a picture they really want to use

I don't know. Almost as hard to take a 0.6MP picture as a 60MP picture. (if it helps, imagine some yellow circle here).
Actually, it shows that for the buyers the ability to find the right image is more important than a rock-bottom price (of course, within reasonable limits).
Congratulations, Ron to the sale and for having the balls to set the new price umbrella. Way smarter than trying to make money by giving out free images.

Kudos Ron.

COOL! My first sale on my Symbiostock site - Dogford Studios - $5 for a small.
Beats my seven SS sub sales I had today.
Very cool to see it working. I have 600+ images up at this point. Been SEOing.

Congrats!

Good dog(ford)... ;D

I woke up yesterday morning and found that I had my first sale last night (a medium size, which in my case is 1600x1200, for $13.99):
It was a great way to start the day!
The funny thing about this sale is that I originally wasn't going to create a pink sky version. I figured that nobody would ever buy a version with a pink sky. But over the years, one of the things that I have learned is that you never know what a customer needs. As long as the image has the quality, it has the potential to sell. Some of my top-selling images are images that I never imagined would have sold.
Thanks to Leo and everyone else that helped out on this wonderful project.
Looking forward to many more sales.
-
Congratulations! Great way to start the day.
Beats 50 subscription sales on Fotolia.
-
Just got my 2nd sale today, a small for $7 :D :D :D
-
First sale !!!!!!! :D
I've just received the notification e-mail. Feels GOOD, I am HAPPY.
It was an image exclusive to imagoborealis:

Great stuff, everyone.

Congrats on the sales! Every sale is a new customer to your site and the network.

do you guys get more sales by joining the symbiostock network search?

do you guys get more sales by joining the symbiostock network search?
did you mean as opposed to a symbio site not connected?
right now all sym sites have chosen to be part of the network, so there's no way to know for sure, but any sales are sales we likely wouldn't have made if we didn't have sym sites
-
Finally, after 5 months, I had my first sale last October 4, in fact two sales in one day.
I wanted to donate my first (2.50$) to Symbiostock, but there's no donate button. :D

Yes, there is a donate button - go to Symbiostock (Bee) and on the first page that opens the donate button is in the top right hand corner :)

yes i mean connected to the symbiostock search..
I am still getting my site ready so i haven't connected the the symbiostock overall search engine. I wonder are those buyers using the search or just came across all your guys site and bought it..
I didn't think people will buy images from some kind of personal website before, but i think maybe i am wrong.

First Sale today.... just a samll size but all the funds went into my paypal, not somewhere else as commission! ;D ;D
-
Yay! I'm waiting for an email or call about my first (hopefully) sale today. Getting very positive feedback from art directors and art buyers about my site and the Symbiostock idea.
-
Had my first sale today. A bit of a surprise, as I've not done much with my site. Hopefully this will inspire me to do some more work.

can you share some details with us? like where is he/she from? how he/she ended up on your site? any talk before purchase?
-
In my case, the buyer came directly to the site via a google search. Within two minutes they had registered on the site and completed the purchase about 15min later (probably due to waiting for email with password which isn't being required in the latest version of symbio but I haven't upgraded yet). No discussion with buyer before or since.

thanks for your reply, very interesting!

It was another MSG'er and Symbiostock site owner. I don't really expect to get many buyers until I've uploaded more of my portfolio and done some more work on my site. It was nice to break my duck though.
-
great to hear about the sales guys!

most of the times, they come from google..
no conversations at all, apart from that one time when the file didn't download properly.. smooth as hell.. :) I feel that you think it will be a hassle to deal with customers directly but not at all..
You would be surprised to hear how many sales I had.. one conversation in that many sales equals to nothing..
Instead of wondering and worrying about the downsides, you should jump on the bandwagon as soon as you can :)
-
no problem at all with conversation, I am "used" to receive/send emails regarding photography clients/other, I just wanted to know more details, nice to see sales at Symbio!

good.. :)
but don't expect many conversations with symbiostock buyers unless you like to bother customers yourself and send them emails :D
%99 of times, they just buy and disappear..

Thats really cool to hear. I'm ignorant regarding Symbiosales unless people speak up. I make a few sales a week - I sold a collection the other day for 60+ dollars. I'm quite certain there's quite a few illustrators and photographers getting sales and keeping quiet.

Basically just this:
Get a website.
Install wordpress.
Install Symbiostock.
...then take a while to move in... (the hard part)
And your all set.
www.symbiostock.com (http://www.symbiostock.com) for the initial direction, www.symbiostock.org (http://www.symbiostock.org) for all the help :D
-
There may be some good threads on this board, too, but since a new version has been implemented and the directions for implementing those new versions is different, mostly the info you need will be at symbiostock.org. Well played, Leo, well played. ;)

not really making a few sales a week yet :)
more like a few sales a month.. but can be quite good when I include my other site..
-
Another sale today. ;D
-
Congrats Redneck!
I got another one yesterday as well.
-
Had my second sale last week.
-
Congrats all, Woke up to a 7.50 euro sale.
-
Happy to join the club :) My first sale today!
Sure there's still much work to do but I just got my 6$-encouragement :D
-
That's awesome! Congrats on your sale.
-
First sale today, 6 euro!
-
congrats everyone !
it must be feel like the first time someone bought your image!
I'm still waiting for my first sale - the upload process for me is time-consuming, but when its done , I'm hoping it will be worth all the effort.
btw if anyone is interested in linking to my site its jeneimages.com - heavily weighted toward landscape and travel photography, with a little bit of everything else thrown into the mix. My goal is to have my 800 pics up by the end of December. If you think this would complement your network I would appreciate the link!!
-
Congratulations on the sales!
I've just launched my Symbiostock site today, despite all the thousands of images I need to upload, and I'm really excited on the potential sales!
-
The good old days! I was just thinking of this thread today.
As it turns out the good old days are still here. People are still getting sales on grfx that was branched from the former project known as "Symbiostock".
For those of who who have not seen many sales, I found this extremely helpful link that is depicting SEO standards as perceived applicable for 2016. I agree with everything in it: http://www.amberddesign.com/articles/onsite-seo-checklist.html (http://www.amberddesign.com/articles/onsite-seo-checklist.html)
I'm proposing we alter this thread to apply to all self-hosted mediums so people can get a constant report of what is getting the sales. grfx has been reporting sales since it's conception though it is not as public as it used to be, such as in the case of this thread.
grfx is stable and not likely to see many revisions from here on. We only focus on what is crucially necessary to make the sale, as well as utmost stability and simplicity.
Here is the facebook page. Our main site is being overhauled for some new systems.
Plugin page: https://wordpress.org/plugins/grfx/ (https://wordpress.org/plugins/grfx/)
Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/grfx.co (https://www.facebook.com/grfx.co)
Its worth noting I have been focusing on illustration and have not been attempting to make a grandios cash-grab out of grfx -- I am giving it's monetary success to a later date while people continue to find their way in these challenging days of Stock Imaging without too much financial burden imposed by their selling medium.

A lot of sales in the futures :-)

My first sale on my new Symbiostock plugin based personal agency. Well, just $2.00, but everyone has to start somewhere...

I even had two sales for Bitcoin (Alt coins) by now! I use a WordPress plugin alongside grfx & wooCommerce adding payment functionality for ALL Crypto coins -- such as Litecoin, Dogecoin, Earthcoin, Mintcoin, Mazacoin, etc -- on top of Biticoin itself...
In fact, this makes a lot of sense because most microstock sales involve micro payments -- and remember, Bitcoin and most Alt coins having zero transaction fees and essentially being instalnt and free payments are perfect for that scenario!
