I've been meaning to make this thread for a while.

In the right hosting conditions everything should be working properly now with very few exceptions.

As Symbiostock sites are deployed, please post here if your site works or does not work, along with what host you are using and what plan/setup if applicable. Or if you had to make changes that resulted in a theme working.

Site: www. mysite .com
Host: The host use used (and link)
Results: Symbiostock features work or not.
Info: If you had to make adjustments to get image processing or other features working (generally memory adjustments).

IMPORTANT: This theme generally does not work on entry-level server environments. Bluehost - BLUEHOST.COM - seems to be the best setting for Symbiostock deployments.

Site: http://www.theruchos.com
Host: Bluehost - http://www.bluehost.com
Results: All features worked out of the box. Have uploaded batches of photos up to about 40 at a time with no errors.
Info: No adjustments were required.

Site: http://www.stockimages.kerioak.com
Host: Justhost - https://www.justhost.com/
Results: Had to edit php.ini which required permission from them to be able to upload images larger than 4Mb - easily done but I think Leo has changed things within Symbiostock since then.
Info:  Probably owned by same company as Bluehost as shares addresses etc just slightly cheaper.  Recommend you go for longest hosting period you can afford (with any company) as that works out cheaper, remember if you have a .com etc address they will usually require an extra payment yearly .

Not voted in poll as was frustrating till I worked out the problem but very easy after that.

EDIT:  Do not trust their back-up system, create your own as they do not back up as regularly as they say, nor do they back up everything and if they lose one of your files during their own downtime they don't care !

Since i'll setup my symbiostock site next monday, it's nice to read more information from people who already configured their websites.

Nice topic. Thanks.

Site: www.BackyardStockPhotos.com
Host: 1and1.com - I have a few other wordpress sites hosted in a shared package for $4.99 a month, so it is cheap if it works!
Results: Image processing doesn't work yet as some php commands are disabled
Info: I've made some changes to the php.ini file but it isn't working yet

Don't know if this would make sense, but I'm in conversation with the COO of a hosting company (Servint.net) about the issues I have had with 1and1, and perhaps it would make sense to share a dedicated server among us all? They also have a cloud solution where you pay based on what you do - I've asked if that would make sense.

I'll keep the group informed. I've known him for a long time and they have been in business for 15 years so they are stable!

Site: was www.photomining.com/q/ but is now:
http://photominingstock.com/earth/
Host: was ehosting.ca (Canada) now Bluehost
Results: ehost=bad, bluehost=good
Info: Had to have host change .htacess to allow "post" function. FTP files over 4Mb only with ehosting.  Could not resolve paypal and download link. I switched to Bluehost and was up and running in about a half hour completely from scratch.

Site: www.cathyslifeStockPhotos.com
Host: IXWebhosting   http://www.ixwebhosting.com/
Results: Symbiostock features work. I am just beginning to navigate around and personalize the site, but installation was easy and it looks good!
Info: I have been hosting with ix for years. They are reasonably priced and reliable. I can actually call their 800 number and get a real tech person. I used the EasyApps installation for installing Wordpress, but it would not allow me to install to the root. I called tech support and they moved the installation to root within 10 minutes. So far, so good!

We seem to have most things under control now, so here are our details:

Site: Travelling Light
Host: AussieHQ Current plan is now obsolete, but about to upgrade to Ultimate Linux.
Results: Everything we've tried so far is working.
Info: Had to get PHP safe mode turned off.

Dear all,

I installed WP then symbiostock on  my hosting(bluehost) no issues. But when I upload a jpeg, upload went fine but during process i  got an error message saying

No matching image files found. You may have named them incorrectly. Fix problem and re-upload. This file has been removed. Example: "my_stock_art.eps" or "my_stock_art.zip" must have accompanying ""my_stock_art.jpg" to be considered a valid set/file

Do we need to upload a zip file??
Thanks for  your help

I'm jsut working on this with Bluehost. I can upload images up to 10M without issue, but above that level I get the same error. I'm trying to do a chat with technical support.

That is strange. I just tried a 7M file and had no issues at all. I just did a completely clean build of WP using their script. Set the permalink setting to Post, added the Symbiostock theme. Activated the network, and set to work on images. First one worked fine and everything less than 10M has been OK.

Wonder why it is different?

edit grrrr kindle quoted wrong post this is in regard to no accompnying image found. should only happen when u upload mismatched zip or Eps . Try again and if probem let me know. Also hosting will be like imaging software. Better host better results. Later will try to get imagick going in process. Some people are processing huge files with no prob .... excuse my kindle typing jargon.

Here is an article about max file size upload at Bluehost: https://my.bluehost.com/cgi/help/110

I need to point my domain properly to Bluehost before I can get ftp working to do this!

This was supposed to be a "testing Symbiostock" site, but I will likely keep it live.

Site:  http://www.rebelstock.com
Host:  Godaddy

I haven't worked on the Paypal end of it.  Wondering though, should I open up a new Paypal account so buyers don't see a charge from Pixart Design and dispute it because the don't recognise?

If I am understanding correctly, there are places in the theme to add logos for your rebelstock.com site so that when they buy, they will see that logo. I don't think it matters that it is going into your same paypal account. You add the site paypal logo in symbiostock>settings>under the email and payment process communication.

Just sharing my experience with inMotion Hosting. Not impressed, looks like I may have to move back to my original host.  Customer service was unhelpful during the sign up process, it took a full 3 days to be able to access my website. Once it was up the FTP problems started, endless waiting for server messages..server timed out etc.  I submitted a ticket, with all the extra information they requested and then never heard back again, even after asking if the ticket was still open.

That was last week, still no word.  Today my site was down for a solid half hour. (Apparently a large number of their shared hosting customers were affected.) Their support live chat was down and their phone rings busy.  A search on Twitter shows a LOT of unhappy customers saying typical inMotion, frequent outages etc.  So all in all, not great.  Unfortunately, I'd not recommend this company.

For what it's worth, in 10 years using Bluehost for multiple sites I've had to contact support maybe 5 times, and they were always available.  I just wish I had noticed the coming soon page for their new VPS options :P Could have saved myself the move back!

Edit: Sorry, I should add that other here, including Leo may have had a better experience than I did with them, I was just at the end of my rope today with this latest issue!

Bluehost is the way to go for Symbiostock :D

I only know inmotion from the dedicated server level, which has been quite amazing. But on the entry level I have no idea where things stand. But Bluehost  is by far the best match for an entry level Symbiostock site because of its price/power.
