My Symbiostock Site ( Works | Doesn't Work ) And This is My Hosting Company

(1/17) > >>

Leo Blanchette:
I've been meaning to make this thread for a while.

In the right hosting conditions everything should be working properly now with very few exceptions.

As Symbiostock sites are deployed, please post here if your site works or does not work, along with what host you are using and what plan/setup if applicable. Or if you had to make changes that resulted in a theme working.
Site: www. mysite .com
Host: The host use used (and link)
Results: Symbiostock features work or not.
Info: If you had to make adjustments to get image processing or other features working (generally memory adjustments).

IMPORTANT: This theme generally does not work on entry-level server environments. Bluehost - BLUEHOST.COM - seems to be the best setting for Symbiostock deployments.

ruchos:
Site: http://www.theruchos.com
Host: Bluehost - http://www.bluehost.com
Results: All features worked out of the box. Have uploaded batches of photos up to about 40 at a time with no errors.
Info: No adjustments were required.

Kerioak~Christine:
Site: http://www.stockimages.kerioak.com
Host: Justhost - https://www.justhost.com/
Results: Had to edit php.ini which required permission from them to be able to upload images larger than 4Mb - easily done but I think Leo has changed things within Symbiostock since then.
Info:  Probably owned by same company as Bluehost as shares addresses etc just slightly cheaper.  Recommend you go for longest hosting period you can afford (with any company) as that works out cheaper, remember if you have a .com etc address they will usually require an extra payment yearly .

Not voted in poll as was frustrating till I worked out the problem but very easy after that.

EDIT:  Do not trust their back-up system, create your own as they do not back up as regularly as they say, nor do they back up everything and if they lose one of your files during their own downtime they don't care !

Chico:
Since i'll setup my symbiostock site next monday, it's nice to read more information from people who already configured their websites.

Nice topic. Thanks.

steheap:
Site: www.BackyardStockPhotos.com
Host: 1and1.com - I have a few other wordpress sites hosted in a shared package for $4.99 a month, so it is cheap if it works!
Results: Image processing doesn't work yet as some php commands are disabled
Info: I've made some changes to the php.ini file but it isn't working yet
