Yeah unfortunately shared hosting is always going to be a bit luck of the draw as you don't know who your neighbors are or what kind of traffic/processes they have going.  That will be the same with basically any of the lower cost shared hosts.  Hopefully when the sites become profitable it will make sense to upgrade.  I'm looking at upgrading to VPS with Bluehost this month ($29.99 per/month level) since I'm running several sites on my account now. If I get that done I'll report back on speed.

If these tools state the truth, numbers differ, but certainly it's more than 10 sites around

I'm doing a little better - only 1137 domains, but I also got this warning:

Quote
It appears that the web server located at 69.89.31.206 may be hosting one or more web sites with explicit content. The web sites in question are highlighted in red below. There is a possibility that all of the web sites on this web server may be blocked by web filtering software. Search engine rankings for these web sites may be affected as well.

I'll watch the progress of the move of Amanda's site (I think that was the one) to a virtual server at Bluehost

Steve

Update - I tried your other link and found 2507 domains on the same IP address!

Loads of sites on my server are dead. I checked a few live ones but they seem a lot faster then my SYS site. I think its the WP side of it that makes it slow. Anyhoo, I am not going to pay 40 dollar a month in hosting. If I do that my site will be more expensive then any other option out there.

Joined the SS experience yesterday afternoon.  With the constant F'n of contributors by the agencies I love the idea of taking back control.  Power to the people!

Anyway, first time user of WP and things are going alright.  Figuring it out.  Will probably go with Amanda's Clean look.  That is when my site comes back from the dead.

BlueHost is my host and they tell me that my server is having an emergency.  Hopefully its not DOA.  Kind of a bummer that it would crash within 24 hours of starting.

Hi DF_Studios and welcome - how did you find us?  Sorry to hear about the server - wonder if it is all the Symbiostock people overheating their machinery

@Ron I think you have too much stuff out there

Jetpack, Likes, WP Likes which do not load, Gravatars, Twitter gadgets, some additional stats and scripts etc..
And no cache on site

Thanks Plrang, I'll see if I can remove some stuff. But I thought the site was pretty bare already.

How do I turn on chache and cookies and the cookie warning?

Hi all!

I finally managed to set up a first symbio site. Let me say first that I am very excited about the whole Project and really appreciate Leos work

Be aware that much of my content is red flagged / contains nudity. For testing purposes I set up primarily the Korgh project site which is not really typical Stock. My Microstock portfolio will follow soon.
Setup was very easy. I just spent a couple of hours customizing the design (I am sure you will find still some Bugs there).
Hosting recommendation: In general I would recommend everybody not to bother too much with a shared hosting package of any company. Get your own VPS or Server if you are serious about your site. In the beginning it is more complicated but in the end more easy and less hassle than dealing with support every now and then...

Things I would like to see:
- Other payment processors than Paypal. There are many alternatives out there and not everybody is too comfortable with PP. As soon as there are other options available I will start setting up another domain with my Microstock port. I would be willing to pay an extra for that...
- Possibility to assign different Prices/Licenses/Editorial etc.
- Leo getting rich and happy with the project. We owe him a lot

Site: Korgh.com
Host: EUKhost (private server, no hosting package or cloud)

Have a nice day all!

Site: http://stock.tdahlphotography.com
Host: Lunarpages http://www.lpwebhosting.com/
Results: All seems to work fine.
Info:
I am on a basic shared hosting plan using cPanel and Softaculous to install Wordpress.. Most everything went well. Image processing is using GD Library and not Imagemagic which Lunarpages says they support. Still have to look into why that is happening. I did have to configure php.ini to increase file size upload.

8/15/13 Update: Contacted Lunarpages support and they had to install the PECL imagick extension. So now image processing is showing as using ImageMagick now.

Thanks
Tim

It seems that Bluehost doesn't work anymore with Symbiostock. Unfortunately I have already purchased a three year plan :(. As soon as I activate the Symbiotheme the whole thing is crashing to pure white.
It's not about Wordpress 3.6 as I use this combination already on my old host but my old host is very slow so I thought I give bluehost a try...

Site: http://images.mddu.com
Host: byethost http://byethost.com

Upgraded to a paid hosting plan the other day.  I'm still waiting on the nameservers to catch up which is absolute torture.  I still have some testing to do before I can finish uploading and start promoting it.

*edit*

Decided to modify instead of post new.

The nameservers were already caught up, what was failed to mention in the FAQ or even on the message board that you needed to contact support to migrate the site from free to paid.

It was working fine then the database reverted back to what it was before I started working on the site again.  It must've still be pulling information from the free host database (another thing that there wasn't information on).

Right now I'm happy just wish I could've foreseen those issues beforehand.

Hey everybody! I've finally decided to make my own symbiostock site. The frustration came when bluehost asked for USD 160 at once -- they are asking for the whole amount and I want to be able to make monthly payments for hosting as the sum is more than half of what I make from microstock per month. Any suggestions? Thank you in advance.

I believe they offer one, two or three year plans. The one year plan is $71.40 ($5,95 monthly).

This is interesting, if SY takes off for me, i might look into this when Bluehost expires.
