your photo topics: General Photography to include Travel, People, Landscape, and Products. I have loved Photography for a long time and I am just getting started in stock.
what  you're looking for: Other sites with a mix of topics.

I am just getting started in stock and looking to build a good portfolio over time. I started to build a portfolio a couple years ago submitting to 123RF, Dreamstime, Fotolia, Bigstock, and Canstockphoto but had to put down the camera for a couple years. I learned a lot submitting to those sites and look forward to building a good quality Symbiostock site.

So critiques are always welcome. I think I can take it, lol   :)

Thanks
Tim

Hi Tim,
Added you to my network

what  you're looking for: as somewhat of a generalist I'm interested in other sites with a general mix of content especially concepts and travel destinations.

I've had my site up for awhile now but wanted to work out a few kinks before turning on the network feature.  Now that I've finally turned it on I wish I'd done it sooner.  Way cool!  Currently my sites a bit heavy on photo objects (that's pretty much what I've put up on the micros) but that will become a minor part as I continue to upload images and start putting my best work here.  Thank you to those that have networked with me already and thank you to anyone who would consider adding my site to their network!

Nikd90 nice site, I've added you to my network!

I'm not done uploading images and building the site yet, but thought I should see what sort of sites might be interested in networking with mine. You can see my portfolio at the other micro sites (SS and GL Stock have a pretty decent representation)

your photo topics: beaches (Maine, Caribbean, West Coast US), travel destinations (cities and countryside; mostly US but some Caribbean and England) lifestyle, home & family, Christmas, some business - a little bit of a lot of things. It's all colorful and bright though
what  you're looking for: Not really sure, but perhaps some geographic complements (Europe, South America, Asia) on similar subjects?

I can't find your symbiocard -- have you activated the network and updated your public image files (from the symbiostock/network page)  or is your sym installed under the root?

I have tried to activate the network - and I tried again just now to see if I added some more info in the fields I have no idea about if it would work - but it fails (I think) with this message

Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in /home5/digitdt6/public_html/blog/wp-content/themes/symbiostock/inc/classes/network-manager/network-manager.php on line 1039
Network info updated.

Image info info updated.

There are a bunch of fields to fill in and although they supposedly have help, I get an "oops" page if I click on them. The getting started just says slick on activate and have the logos - I've done that but I still (a) don't get my logo on the image pages, just the SS ladybird logo, (b) get the above error each time I try to update the network info (which someone else said I should do to get my logo to work) and (c) you tell me I don't have a network card - which I don't know anything about creating or checking on.

Can you tell I am clueless? I'm trying, but it's not easy.

I had a wordpress installation already, not in the root (digitalbristles.com/blog) and so that's where my symbiostock install went. I seem to remember something I read when I first set wordpress up that said it was bad to put it in the root directory.

The "My site" field in the networking tab of Symbiostock correctly says "http://www.digitalbristles.com/blog"

I posted about the error message yesterday in one of the threads about 2.6.0 bugs but it may not be a bug - I'm probably doing something wrong or missing something. Is there anywhere that tells you what needs to be put into the various fields of the networking tab?

How does one get or make a symbiocard.csv (I see one mentioned in the site search on http://symbiostock.info/about/)

When I click that link it says page not found.  But when I click on your logo you show up under your main domain and not blog.  Set your site to http://www.digitalbristles.com/ and try again.

Looks like it might be a possible bug in the new 2.6.x version.

In the Settings-General for WordPress I have the site address as http://www.digitalbristles.com and the WordPress address as http://www.digitalbristles.com/blog. That's how you have your install of WP somewhere other than the root but have it behave as if it is in the root.

However in the Symbiostock network settings I can't type or paste into the field that says where my site is - it's apparently disallowed. Perhaps Leo needs to change which WordPress setting field he reads from?

My square logo URL is correct - I assume you can see this (I just copied and pasted from the Symbiostock field I entered)

I'm still seeing the ladybug logo and not your square logo.

Okay that I don't know much about making it behave as if it were in your root folder and not in a separate one.  Now I feel like it is a bug like Shazam said.

Hi Jo Ann

Your site is showing up nicely under www.digitalbristles.com  not sure why you want it to show as www.digitalbristles.com/blog, or am I misunderstanding ?

To set your symbiocard (replace the ladybird logo)
go to
Users
Your Profile
scroll down to Symbiostock Profile and Extended Network Info
immediately underneath this is a box to add the URL to your Personal Photo - add the url then scroll down and click Save

Hopefully this should add the image to your Symbiocard/personal photo and replace the Ladybird logo

Thank you! I now have my logo in place of the ladybird (I had added the URL to the Symbiostock settings, not realizing there was a whole bunch of stuff way down in the user profile that I needed to add).

As far as the the directory issue, when I set up my site (pre-Symbiostock) I was following the advice here about installing WordPress in a subdirectory

http://wordpress.org/support/topic/should-i-install-in-root-directory-or-subdirectory

You just set your site address to the root (WordPress Settings/General) so although all the files live below, people access it as if it were in the root. I don't want the Symbiostock Networking to use the /blog subdirectory but that's what it has picked up from something internal to WordPress and I can't edit that field. I think Leo needs to pick the Site Address not the WordPress Address field when setting the networking info for my site.

After I entered info in the User Profile as you showed me how to, I no longer get the error when updating the network info. It'd be nice if it said "fill out your user profile" versus what it did, but I assume that was the source of the problem...

I don't know if I have a symbiocard - how could I find that out (cascoly said he couldn't find one)?

Problem with this site is that it was installed in /blog folder, but somewhere in wodpress config, site address was set to /. Now some functions use address with /, and others with /blog. Files symbiocard.csv and symbiostock_image_info.xml were generated and look ok, but they are located in /blog folder. I don't know what to do with it...

I can manually move them to the root if that helps. I know I'd have to do that each time I regenerated them, but would a manual move cause any other problems?

You can move them, but you should do it every time after any change, like new uploads, editing images etc, so this is no solution.

Your symbiocard is located here:
http://www.digitalbristles.com/blog/symbiocard.csv

You can find it by going to your author page (http://www.digitalbristles.com/author/joannadmin/), clicking on the Attributes & Symbiocard tab (to open it up), and then clicking at the bottom on "Get <author's> Symbiocard".

I've sent Leo some e-mail explaining what's up and asking if he can look at the WordPress site address field when setting up locations of things

yes, I just everything at http://www.digitalbristles.com/blog   - the 'network card' I was referring to is the symbiocard.csv or xml file which is at http://www.digitalbristles.com/blog/symbiocard.xml

there's still something strange though -- is your wordpress install also in the blog subfolder?  it should be

your site is now active at http://symbiostock-search.com

Yes, my wordpress install is in the blog subfolder. Leo has the details of what's wrong - other than the card being in the blog subfolder, the URLs in the buyer login e-mail (and I assume all others) all have the wrong site URL (with the /blog at the end) so nothing they clicked on will work. He said he's looking through my site to see if he can figure out what needs to be done - either to Symbiostock or to me :)

thanks

if your wordpress install is in /blog then your symbio should be also, otherwise paths may not be accurate

And it is. Leo says he thinks he's found the problem; I assume a fix will be available soon
