If you need new features, or custom functionality, or plugins of any sort - request them here.

Please note in most cases the development of the plugin comes at no cost - it will be available for paid download upon completion.

In other cases (unique needs and situations not necessarily shared by most) private plugin development can also be done. You may post suggestions here or contact me leo[at]symbiostock.com.

My top request at this point would be for an extended license plugin.

Responsive features are getting improved anyway, but your talking about a theme that is mobile-perfected?

Yes, a real m-site. I tried a  mobile WP plugin but its not working on the Symbistock part of WP

I think the smartest thing to do would be to just take all the options the other (paid) packages have and just include them into a premium plugin.

Besides that mention any other perks you might like, that are not currently used by the major (paid) packages, since I may just write these in anyway.

A "Translation Ready" plugin. Meaning that every English word of the theme can be easily translated into other languages of choice because they are accessible (and editable) through a list. The image database would need an extension for foreign language metadata. The theme would get a language button where users can switch language easily.
That plugin could even include an online translation tool in the back-end of the SY theme allowing us to automatically translate keywords and descriptions then edit and store translations with image database.

need to have bulk edit of a selected group of images based on keyword or category, and need to be able to change prices for those -- the way it is now is all or nothing, so basically isn't usable once you have many images, or different types (eg, all zips would b ereset to zip not available)

basically rather than showing all images as it does now, display only those requested in the search (and allow more images displayed per page) and add prices to the editing area when bulk edit is done

Thanks a little birdy told me they wanted a plugin that emulated (a certain popular photo selling package)'s admin screen. I will be adding selective / bulk editing features like you suggest, along with a host of other options with it.

Hi

Can we have a plugin to increase the number of images per page to 100 please?

Also a way of ranking the files so we can send our best sellers to the top of the search rank on our sites. Maybe a tick box to always promote these within the categories or something.

At the moment if you upload your best sellers first they get sent to the bottom of the search rank.
Thanks Mark

I agree with most ideas here

Extended license plugin
Rights managed plugin
100 images on the portfolio page
Mobile site (very important)
Flexible bulk edit

I would easily pay 50 dollar for a package that includes those  :)

If you add Amandas Clean theme child theme, your site will be mobile ready.

If google deranks a site because it is not mobile ready, then i think the main theme should be fixed to incorporate that. People shouldnt lose their seo, which is basically what SY is all about, because they dont purchase an extra plugin.

I need to do more research on that and see exactly what mobile ready according to google means. I purchased the Clean Theme and Amanda incorporated css to compensate for mobile viewing and it works great, but does that satisfy googles definition?

This is a great post. A good set of dedicated plug in is necessary also to attract more developer.
At this moment the plug in that I really want is an amazonS3 connector. To me is:
1) Time saver. I can set up how many websites I want, and upload the content one time only after that the only thing to do is link the sites and the buckets through a dropdown men.
2) Bandwidth saver. File stored on amazon decrease bandwidth usage.
3) Hotlink protection. The download expires and the link is valid only a time or for a few hours/day or whatever we want.
No problem to pay for this plug in.

Other things are also said,
-theme responsive, google will demote site non-responsive.
-show more picture per pages
-RM and Extended License
-Dashboard to manage statistic of sales and users.
-Coupon

Minor feature, the ability to show a download counter.
Someday maybe, more payment gateway.

Forgot to add:

I NEED a "panorama" plugin. Just look at the pitiful thumbs of my panorama shots on my site. The images are huge, such as 3000 by 12000 pixels, but on the thumbs you can't see a thing and even the image pages aren't much better. A plugin that solves these issues would be a definite buy for me.

Another suggestion:

A "magnifier" plugin that allows buyers to examine our images in 1:1 scale would be of some great value.

Precisely. Plus done in a way in that people can't get big previews and steal the image by just pasting two zooms together or something. I think Mostphotos does a good job of this from what I remember, it adds a watermark on the zoom image as well

This is what I will begin working on soon - combined into a premium upgrade (plugin)

1. Amazon cloud interaction. Not only for file management and storage, but necessary for site migrations which some people will need to do soon.

2. File management admin similar to photo-----'s which you can sort/batch edit for any sort of operation.

3. # of results displayed management in as many areas as possible (from categories, search results, widgets, etc)

4. Custom license and generic options addable to pricing tables. So you can call it "extended license" or "premium download" and various options will allow you to set URL destinations, file downloads, etc. That way I don't have to make a new option for every conceivable purchase type.

5. Custom post types (product types) for Video and MP3...will likely be adaptable and interact with amazon storage as well.

Naturally I'll need some time to do this, but this will finally make this whole venture worth it for me :D In the meantime, I have a few small bugs left to take care of.

Please get people to get involved with Symbiostock in the meantime so I have a crowd to sell this to :D

The SY crowd is growing with impressive speed already. Be ready for a tsunami of new SY sites when buyers start buying on the SY network in greater numbers.  ;D

Seriously, Leo, you did an awesome job and that is the reason for our active SY community. We all see the potential this has. I don't think you should worry about this venture paying you off eventually. At the very least I hope it will  ;).

Anyway, count me in for your premium upgrade plugin!  8)

In wordpress you can set up pages with password. So i.e. you can create in the header the men clients with nested pages for clients and protect them with password. If I recall right in the wordpress official plugins directory, there are some more advanced plugin to handle this thing.

Thanks Alberto, I can password galleries on my business site and I thought it must have been built into the theme.  So I will look into your suggestion.

I like that SY resizes and watermarks the photos and that you can see a nice thumbnail.  I have to do that in PS right now for my client galleries.  And my stupid client galleries show only a square portion of the photo right now.   Leo's done a lot of things right and could sell this thing to a wide market of Photographers (arent's stock photographers a limited number?).  Should have been ready when Smugmug raised their prices this past year, they lost thousands of clients - including me.

Extended and editorial licences are a much higher priority for me. Buyers will just use the standard licence and use them however they want if they don't see the extended licence option.

But yes I would use a collections option to sell sets of images.

Would you/could you make this across sites?.

Eg As a site owner you could opt in or out of the scheme (or pay to upgrade to the scheme?)

and people could buy say 75 worth of downloads for 50.00 and spend that at any participating site?

I have a customer that needs their collection (they had spent good money for it) so I have to make this right away by necessity. I'm going to keep it simple:

You relate a category to an image, and that becomes a collection. Then you can set the price however you want. Upon purchase the files are added to the customer.

Editorial -

I would like to have any image which is part of an "Editorial" category have a short bit of text  associated with it explaining that the image cannot be used to sell a product, etc. I can do this manually in the description but that is a clunky workaround.

would each collection become a category?  how would this display in the category listing?

what about making collection a distinct data type?  instead of 'image', a collection would consist of a list of images that can be purchased as a set.  A  flag in the image record would also show that it's part of a collection and display that on the image page)   I have a collections category now, but this would save the hassle of creating separate zips for collections, and more importantly, save space since only one instance of the image is stored.

this could become an important feature of symbio - something lacking in microstock agencies. before ebay banned digital delivery, I had success with selling small collections of images to individuals while individual images didn't do as well

there may be some confusion of terms -- leo's using collection in one place as a category containing indiv images & also as a group -- you're right the 'boxed' collection doesn't show # of images, but the price is also unchanged from indiv, so this may just be  a work in progress

i'd see collections as a grouping of indiv images with a discounted price -- user pays one price and gets to download all the images in the collection -- nice feature here is you can set up the collection once, then users can choose which size images they want, so collections can offer different sizes (at different prices) without having to store all those variations online

My site is whacked right now :D Collections don't work. I have to take down the images like I have to do 1000 other things.

Collections - simple.

1. Make category of images.
2. Go to your "box" image and assign it to be a collection, attributing it to category.
3. When collection sells, all images in that category are added to download area.

Think someone mentioned it, but couldn't see it, so here it is again...

- Extra file size or two (XL, XXL) where you can set them only to show if the image meets the minimum dimensions for each size (that the author sets eg: Author says in the admin section "show the XL option if the file dimensions are greater than 3000x4000 pixels" and "show XXL option if the file dimensions are greater than 4500x4500" - with a separate pricing section for each)

I have to quote myself to update my wish list.

1. I was able to solve the mobile site problem. Not needed anymore.
2. I actually don't really need the RM specifics since I can modify my license text that way that I don't need to have different licenses.

Remaining wishes are:

1. Very important: a check box in the Edit Image area to mark an image as "Editorial Only" which should prominently be shown on the frontend image page (just like the Exclusive sign)

Also, the release statuses should be shown on the frontend image page.

2. and 3. from my quote above are nice to have in the future and but have certainly not high priority.

Thanks.

Sure, that's no secret.
I didn't develop a mobile site but re-established the responsiveness of the theme. The SY child theme itself is already a responsive layout theme. The problem was simply that the  "Home Page CTAs" template and the "Featured Images Preview Slider" are not responsive.
I just used a different home page template (Home Page Simple) and substituted the Featured Image Slider with a third party Slideshow (Soliloquy), made a few adjustments to the layout and that was it. It is now fully responsive and will automatically adjust to any common screen size.

Is it just me or is there something wrong with your site? I get a white screen using above link...

All of a sudden I'm getting a white screen, too. Thanks for letting me know, I'll check on that.

That's very strange and right now I have no idea how it happened but somehow an empty "default.html" appeared in my root directory. Deleted it and now we're back to normal.

Thanks, it'll still take a few weeks to get most of my images up.

Additional options for XL and XXL images no point having a 36MP camera if we can't make a little out of it  :D

Which requests have been completed? Can anyone do a sum up of what was requested and what is available now and if its added to an upgrade or paid plugin. That would be much appreciated.

And I would like to add:

Search capable of phrase keywords (compound keywords).

Anyway, count me in for your premium upgrade plugin!  8)

Same here!

I'm really impressed with how this is going and can hardly wait to get my own site up and running. Just have a few other things to clear off my plate before I dive in.

Would be good to have an option to sell audio files, could be of interest for many people. Moneybookers payment as well

Probably has been said before but...

Need more rights models, specifically RM.
Need to be able to change the default number of thumbnails visible to go along with the ability of the client to change the number of thumbnails visible.

+1 to the RM rights model

Not sure if it has been requested before:

A "loupe" function would be a great feature where potential buyers can check the outstanding quality of our images 1:1. - Some precautions need to be taken, though, to prevent pirates from downloading full size images piece by piece.

Very good request. That should help building trust.

1. Magnifier (The client must be able to see the quality of image at 100%) type that one Fotolia has would be perfect.

2. Than is a must now that we have the possibility to add RM licence the integration of the RM price calculator (that one Alamy has). Without that we cannot sell RM.
