I've updated the SY theme to 2.5.6 this morning and can't upload any pictures since then.

The WP SY uploader gives me:

"Symbiostock Image Uploader
You browser doesn't have Flash, Silverlight, Gears, BrowserPlus or HTML5 support."

and suggests FTP upload to ... /wp-content/plupload/uploads/ but this directory doesn't even exist anymore.

Like I mentioned before, until this morning I've uploaded every day and everything worked great. Now the FTP directory is gone and I don't know where to send my files to.

My browser is Chrome, BTW.

Need help.

This thread might have the answer. Some others were seeing that problem with an earlier version

I've seen this one but I still don't know what to do.
Am I supposed to "update" to the older version 2.5.5? Where would I get this version and will this really work since 2.5.6 has obviously changed the folder structure?

I am currently evaluating the theme and had the same problem.

I reverted back to the parent theme rather than using a child theme and it all appears to work again.

I hope this helps the developers in some way.

BTW, I just checked it with Firefox - same error message.

I have not upgraded to 2.5.6 because I have not been having this issue (fingers crossed). I did have this issue a few versions ago, right after I installed a plugin. I deactivated that plugin and the uploader instantly came back. Leo says it's another problem, but I mention just in case you want to give deactivating plugins one by one and seeing if there is a conflict.

I didn't have any issues either, before 2.5.6.
But since this update appeared in my WP update area and I'm not following every single thread on this forum I thought it's safe to run the update (expecting improvements from it).

I really don't know what to do now.

I updated because of the shorter distance to the upload file as I prefer to use ftp

What folder do you upload to?
You don't have any upload problems with 2.5.6?

You have created it? And does that work? What CHMOD rights did you give the folder?

I released this for a while as an unofficial upgrade for those who had problems with their upload area. I finally released it because people were not reporting problems with 2.6.6, rather only that it worked.

This took it out of the theme's root and placed it in the content area. An added bonus would be that if you upgrade your theme while images are waiting to be processed, you won't lose them.

It seems to be a flip-flop. People who had problems see a fix. People who had no problems see it break.

Its not that hard - just use 2.5.5 if 2.6.6 does not work for you, and the previous version did. Use 2.5.6 if the 2.5.5's uploader did not work.

Lastly, here is where it was referenced - it was suggested you check with your host. However I know that nobody will want to do that, so I never mentioned it. See the expert speak here:

Where do I get 2.5.5? I don't store updates locally.

And will this work and reset that folder structure to before? I just don't want to mess it up more than necessary.

I'll locate the previous version for you, though if you look at that post I gave you I question its even anything I can control. FTP is the best.

Yeah but that's what I mean, I can't use FTP anymore because the upload folder has changed or has been deleted. I prefer FTP very much.

Your a better person for it!

The FTP folder location is mentioned on the uplaod page. Simply use that directory.

Leo, we're running in circles here.

I mentioned before that this folder isn't there anymore.

The upload area tells me to use this folder: .../wp-content/plupload/uploads/

but there is no such folder.

This is the current folder stucture inside the wp-content folder. See image.

I overlooked that part.

Very very simple solution - which I never mentioned -

Toggle the theme.

Activate some default or other theme like 2012, etc. Then reactivate the theme/child-theme your using. All issues will be solved.

EDIT: This action runs the installer, which will set up that folder.

Actually anybody who upgrades has to toggle the theme this time. People just don't like mass-emails and their overwhelmed, so I've been extremely conservative what I say/do/etc so people can have a break.

That worked.

Upload folder is back, upload, processing, editing and publishing without issues.

Thanks a lot for the help, saved the day.

Just a suggestion. A little bit of information about an update might really help.

Now I'm going to wipe the sweat off my forehead.

People have been complaining about too much info, and things in general, so I've been slowly finding my way out of the crowd in this venture. Just going to focus on supplying cool stuff and being quiet. :D

Right now I'm working on the premium theme and hope to have it 100% perfect before making it public so I can simply move on.

Apparently then this is uploader working for everyone. Just a theme toggle is needed.

I had a suggestion about info, but decided to start a new thread so as not to derail this one. Plus it will be more visible.

I'm having the same problem. (BlueHost, 2.5.5 worked fine. After upgrade web and ftp don't work anymore)

How exactly do I "toggle"back to 2.5.5?  Confused....

Anyone have a link to the 2.5.5 download?

OK that worked.  I didn't have "2012' what ever that was.

I "toggled" between the Clean Theme and Symbiostock 2.5.6 and everything went back to normal.  - Thanks, ed
