In order to display featured or latest images on the front page, you have to use home page cta template. To make a grid of more than six images, you have to change code, and you would need to do a search for that, this forum or the other forum. Once you choose the template, go to widgets and place them in the area on the page you want them. In other words, drag the latest images widget from the left side over into the area of the home page area on the right, such as below content, etc.

The part you want to get rid of...it has been months since i did that, but i think i created a an above header menu, then just checked the items i wanted to appear. You do that in Appearance>Menus.

Hi, I create an above header menu and manage to choose what i want to show it.

for the first front page, I create a new page with cta template, but how can i make it the landing page? let's say my site is www.xyz.com, i tried to create a page title 'homepage' then it is always www.xyz.com/homepage

i will try to play around it.

In the dashboard go to Settings>Readings. The first two items is where you choose which page is the home page.

I think people post wherever they think they will get an answer the fastest. Sometimes that is here. 

True, but for those of us not on the latest version 2.7.2 or whatever it is at now, there are a TON of answers still here that apply. I don't see why it's such a big problem to let people choose where they post. People (me included) come to this forum because ALL the stock news is here...sometimes it's just convenient to post here.

Trust me, I know. Sometimes its just a simple setting somewhere, but not where you would expect it to be! 

i saw some sites with a slider of images (which i think is a widget)..

but i saw some like with a composite of images, but which is not link to every single image. Guess it is just a composite banner?

I cant really find the post about making a contact sheets..it is a html code that display images in grids?

The slider on my site is Soliloquy free version. It's free, very basic, and easy to use. There's a paid upgrade that gives more options if you want/need them.

I think the latest version of the SYXtra plugin has/had the capacity to make square thumbnails that would line up evenly and be clickable links. Not sure if that's what you're talking about, but if it is you can check it out.

it is actually very fast if someone set up a steps by steps. everything is a few clicks but takes you long time to figure out or ask.
