Hi all, do I need or would you recommend a SSL cert?
Thanks

Account Plan 12 Monthly - $6.95 per month (Billed annually)
Setup Fee FREE
SiteLock Domain Security - $1.67 per month (Billed annually at $19.99/yr)
Site Backup Pro - $19.99 per year More information
Search Engine Jumpstart - $14.99 per year
Total package at Blue Host $138.37 annually, yet when I choose to pay its $170. Apparently VAT, 23% for Ireland.
I guess I need all that as I cant just fiddle on and better be safe then sorry.
So, question now is do I need SSL and maybe Search Engine Jumpstart ?

Just checking in ... no to both .... no gimmicks needed

Thanks Leo.
What do you think about SiteLock Domain Security, it says it will increase conversion rate and it will scan for viruses and malware on the site?
Also, I do think back up is smart to add.

Not sure about first one but backups are definitely needed.
-
Cheers Leo, going to purchase that package now

Can you share the total price of the package that you need to buy? There are so many add-on. Someone says we need back up and some say we don't. I want to start with building the site soon. I have a small portfolio so it would be easier for me to start with small portfolio.

Nikd90 back up is a must; without it you can lose all the data, practically the whole site if something goes wrong. At least if your provider does not provide an automated back up you can use a wordpress plugin or make it manually.
In the end all that you need is to copy your data and trasfer it in local.

This link it is enough thought to understand the basic notion.

At bluehost, you don't NEED to purchase the backup package, as you can backup files yourself without it. It just makes it easier if you need to restore something. And it might be faster, not sure about that. But I do backups every couple of days of all of my files including db without the package.

Well so far not happy with BlueHost, I cant connect to my website and I cant set up my emails in Outlook, related to the same problem, cant connect to server. So I will give it a rest and see what happens tomorrow. 150 dollar spent but expected a better product/service. So far I also find the chat support a bit edgy with their responses as if they rather not be there. Anyhoo, can happen. Tomorrow a new day.

Chat support...I never had much luck with it either but when I call on the phone, I get awesome, helpful support. Did you try that? I have used bluehost for a few years now and everything has always worked great, there must just be something else going on.
Set up your emails in outlook...do you mean forward from bluehost to outlook? I have done that for cathyslifestockphotos so it's possible.
You have already paid...don't give up on them. The only criticism I have right now of them is that sometimes I have to wait for things to load, etc. but that is because I am on shared hosting. Once they offer dedicated IPs I think that issue will be solved.

Ow I will give them a chance. I have to, I paid 150 dollar for one year.
I had phone support as well, which was a nice person, but he forgot to tell me the transfer takes time and also involves some action from the old provider. I figured that out myself and thats why I cant connect to the server for the moment.
Also the two emails I sent to my supposedly account manager have gone unanswered. So they are big on marketing their support, but so far its just hot air.
Anyhoo, if the domain is transferred I probably dont need support any more and I can work away.

Ah, yeah. They sometimes don't explain that domain transfers sometimes take 24+ hrs. It also happens when you go from shared hosting to dedicated IP...even within the same ISP. I found that out the hard way.
Hope it gets resolved and you can be on your merry way. :)

Yeah, I got it all sorted now. I also by accident created a new user, so I added my old WP account to SY and then deleted the user, now I have my old WP user as site admin, however, I lost the Symbistock profile sheet. I can only update simple user info, I cant find how to get that extended symbiostock profile sheet back, where you can fill out your profession and specialties and stuff.

And another problem, images stored on my website, direct links, do not work. Not the stock images, just images I stored in the root. Weird stuff.
